Uadjet says: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is an out-of-character meeting where you can hear about the development of the game and ask the Dev and GM teams any questions you might have. If you do have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
Uadjet says: Okay, so this is an OOC meeting, so no need to stay in character. It's rather hard to do so when discussing game mechanics. :D
Uadjet says: Not many people on today for some reason, but I can still give you lot an update on what is going on.
Brynt says: very true.
Uadjet says: And as I said, if you have a question please step up to the lecterns in front of the stage.
Brynt says: I don't know enough to have any questions yet haha
Uadjet says: Okay, I'll give an update on what the team has been working on.
>Damola Etedi listens intently.
Uadjet says: Talad got bows working in the Unreal version of the game.
Uadjet says: That took some doing, but you can now aim and fire at a target.
Damola says: Nice.
Uadjet says: He's also spent a lot of time working on the new compendium system
Anysu says: Yeah bows!
Uadjet says: The way it is right now, you can gain information in a number of different ways.
Uadjet says: So eating/using plants will add info to your compendium for that entry.
Uadjet says: Reading books will do so as well.
Damola says: Nice.
Uadjet says: So my constant nudging of people to read the books in the library will have some concrete benefits!
Uadjet says: He's done a lot of work just getting the compendium categories set up, actually. I'll see if I can find that.
Uadjet says: But while Talad is working on that, we've got people doing map fixes and squashing bugs in Unreal.
Uadjet says: They're working on factions right now too.
Damola says: I see. Lots more work towards not only completion of the port but towards extending it quite a bit.
Uadjet says: Including getting new icons for each faction, which will be nice.
Uadjet says: Oh, yeah.
Uadjet says: The new engine allows for a lot of things that the current engine does not.
Uadjet says: Plus, I think adding new things is more exciting than porting things or fixing bugs, so it helps to keep the enthusiasm up.
Damola says: yeah, sure.
Damola says: I bet porting contains quite some repetitive work.
Uadjet nods. "There's a lot to do. I know they're working on the collision boxes in some areas right now."
Uadjet says: I don't think you can use the actual item meshes for collisions because they'd be tooc omplex. They'd block people from moving in ways they should be able to because they're caught up on a tiny outcropping, or something like that.
Uadjet says: I think that's why the stairs in Hydlaa were so tricky to navigate in the first alpha.
Thosor says: So that explains it, was having trouble on stairs.
Uadjet says: If you've ever been stuck in a tree, you know what I mean.
Damola says: Haha.
Uadjet tries not to look at the Enkis in the room.
Damola says: Do you know whether player to player collision is or will be implementation?
Uadjet says: Why am I facing the front when everyone is on one side?
Damola says: Right now you can run through other chars and through mobs
Thosor says: Maybe clock chane in europe ?
Thosor says: *change
Damola grins to Uadjet "Yeah :)"
Uadjet says: That does mess things up. Hopefully we'll be done with it forever soon enough.
Gonger says: Few participants today.
Brynt nods "we figure time change is still messing with people"
Uadjet says: Yeah, very odd. Europe changed the clocks last night, but as the time of the meeting should be at the usual time.
Uadjet says: Haven't found the compendium categories yet, but they do include things like races (player and creature), locations, groups and factions, etc.
Uadjet says: So it's very much like something you'd see in the Dragon Age games. Or Mass Effect.
Thosor says: have any artists been found?
Anysu says: *Yup been stuck in a tree*
Uadjet says: Yes, actually. There are a few prospects working on things right now - like the faction icons I mentioned - and I think Zwei is working on the Lemurs.
Thosor says: That's good.
Uadjet says: And of course there's work being done on the new outpost/tutorial area, though I havent' heard anything new about that in a bit.
Damola says: All nice progress.
Uadjet says: Once they've got the basic components for the outpost, they can use them to make places out in the rest of hte game world.
Uadjet says: I think there are two towns that could use that art. Two new towns. One would be Nauvhim, which is surprisingly close to Hydlaa and Oja. Just off the road between them, actually.
Uadjet says: I've used that town in a few events recently, so it'll be nice to see if I got any of it right!

Anysu says: Any towns between Gug and Hydlaa?
Uadjet says: No, but they're really close to each other already.
Anysu says: *nods*
Uadjet says: I'm pretty sure that a really strong person could stand atop the Windowless Tower in Hydlaa and throw a rock far enough to hit Malco at the base of Gugrontid's ramp.
Brynt says: haha
Brynt says: there's a thought.
Thosor says: But kra could throw a bigger one back.
Uadjet says: Yeah, true!
Uadjet says: But in PSU there are some new locations planned that aren't too far outside the exisitng map in Legacy.
Uadjet says: The new town Talad built, for example, would just be off to the side of BDRoad2. One map over.
Thosor says: And roads with adventure on the? No need of ptero?
Thosor says: *them
Uadjet says: And on the far side of Gug is Kormia (Dermorian ranching town) and The Observatory.
Uadjet says: In PSU it's all open. You can run anywhere.
Uadjet says: I timed my run from Amdneir and it was 16 minutes of sprinting to get to Gugrontid and from there another five minutes to sprint to Hydlaa.
Thosor says: What is the observatory? i only remember a sketch I saw over 10 years ago.
Anysu says: Never recall myself of an Observatory
Uadjet says: There's an unfinished building in PSU atop a hill.
Uadjet says: It's very interesting.
Thosor says: It was to observe the Crystal. It had an AZ/EL dome though. Why if the crystal doesn't move.
Uadjet says: I think they observe the rest of the Dome as well.
Thosor says: surveilance!
Uadjet says: Yliakum has constellations made of reflective materials in the Dome, so I'm sure they try to keep a close eye on the whole thing.
Uadjet says: And yeah, it would be handy for watching out for packs of megaras too.
Thosor says: looks as though no throng of people coming in at this hour...
Uadjet says: Ahh, the wiki mentions derghir living on the Azure Sun itself. I though that was just something the doomsayer in East Hydlaa made up.
Thosor says: Is the wiki a spoiler in general?
Thosor says: Or the .org page?
Damola says: Time for me.

Uadjet says: It's pretty full of spoilers, I guess, but not too many spoilers for Unreal I wouldn't think.

Uadjet says: Most of the info in the wiki is avilable in-game, but there's some stuff that's only aviailable there. Like the page for Delving, which is awesome.
