I\'m having the same problem.

Is it Crystal Space, PS, or my system?

CPU   AMD Athlon Thunderbird 900
RAM   512 mb
GFX   Nvidia Geforce2mx
SND  SB Live! Value
OS    Windows 98

Do I need some 1gb of memory to run this game?

No you dont need 1GB memory. Although you might want to upgrade your card, it MIGHT cause lag. Make sure that you have used the updater, and that you have all you latest drivers, which you find here (http://www.nvidia.com).
Also, try running both Safe-mode and OpenGL-mode.

The game crashing during Initializing World is usually a sign of running out of RAM.  You might check your virtual memory swap file size and try increasing it.

You also might run in -console mode and try to see what else the console shows before it crashes.

I\'m having the same problem.  Every time I get to \"Initializing world\" it locks up.  I tried running it in both modes.  My computer stats are listed below.  I kind of doubt its my harware, but who knows.  How do you \"increase your virtual memory swap\"?

My computer:
Amd Athalon 1600+
Radeon 9700 Pro
756mb DDR RAM
