I\'m wondering, as the Mac build isn\'t official yet, can y\'all either put up a compiled (X11 based?) build?
OR, how can I download/compile a CVS snapshot (once again X11 based? Cocoa?)?
Considering Apple\'s X11 is Quartz Extreme accelerated, it shouldn\'t have a huge issue with running Planeshift. It runs other sutff (Openoffice.org, xplane, etc) very well.
Just wondering. :)

you guys still don\'t have a package?!?!
come on, devs, a build for mac users would be really great

Yea, still nothing. That\'s why I\'m hoping someone can tell me what I need to do to compile it for myself. :)

basically the source you get from sourceforge.net should work, whn you (probably heavily in this case) hack it a bit ...another idea would be to use a spare partition to run linux ...but i suppose, you won\'t do that just to play PS :) ...try the sf.net sources, the CVS can be pretty dirty and not work well together (with the server)

Looking forward to a Mac release; is the release weeks or months away from us?

I have no idea. Although, I think that Lightyear is the one in charge of it, or perhaps, he is the only one working on it.. anyways, it will be out before CB :P
...or so I think.

All mac guys I\'m downloading the source and I\'ll try to compile it for os x, no os 9.x will be suported, ONLY OS X, I\'ll try to do it, I can\'t promess anything.
I hope we, all mac lovers, will have Plane Shift for us
;) :D :P

I have put up Mac build instructions (using the source and art pack) on the planeshift site. The instructions are at -
http://www.norrington.net/PlaneShift.rtf
I have not managed to get it to connect but it runs (I think the connection is a different issue - server problems).

One of the first problems Lightyear had to solve (and it was not trivial) was the way messages were passed between big and little endian systems: this has been solved, but maybe it\'s not in CVS, and this could explain your problems when logging in. Another much bigger problem relies in how Apple implemented OpenGL in its OSX OS: this implementation caused PS to run incredibly slow no matter what you did. Our MAC release is on hold because we\'re waiting for Apple to release their fixes to this problem, which, according to them, should not be too much far away.

WOOOOW ....
I can\'t imagine the pain and anger you are feelin ... Mac doesn\'t have PS ?? Man you should have paid for a pc when you had the chance ... :P
Ohh and btw. did anybody use PS on Linux .. I really wanna do that ..
This must be the first time I see linux has an advantage over mac ... Not that mac ever did have a real advantage ;)
Good Luck Mac\'s

Thanks to the efforts of Ben Norrington, PlaneShift Molecular Blue (0.2.010) now works also on the Mac OSX platform. We are still having some performance issues and so we need some testers to verify the package on a number of different hardwares. Please send an email to info@planeshift.it to be one of those testers. We will give you the URL of Mac package (around 100 Mb). Please apply if you have a good internet connection and a good hardware (cpu + video card). Should not be the best out there, but from average to high. Thanks.

Actually macs are really good graphically, and they have some nice games: such as the Escape Velocity series.
Vengeance! Isn\'t it against the rules to bump here?! ROFL

Not for admins. :-)

Bumbing is when you post in a thread in order to keep it on the top of the forum, above other threads. Some people dont like it, others use it everyday. Not that I would ever do such a thing  ;)
