i really want to have full names in planeshift, it adds realism to it for example Aerandir S?ralond? would be my elvish name..
-
you could have a nickname, and a full name at the same time, like in AO... then when you examine a player you see both his nickname and full name...
example: Aerandir \"Applehunter\" S?ralond?
the \"\" part being the nickname...
sorry for the lame choice of nickname btw :P
-
yea im not sure applehunter would be my choice :p but yea that would be cool too.. xalthar member of lw?
-
ooh, ooh, can I be a legendary part time warrior, full time blacksmith???
j/k
heh, I like the idea of nickname, but I don\'t think it should be a nickname you pick... peeps you know should nick you
maybe have an in game nick voting system?
-
or maybe with ur alignment Aerandir Demom S?ralond?
for evil possibly

Full names.. Well first of all there must be name rules formed for each race.
Each race must have it\'s own native language and the names should resemble that.
If first and last names will be incorporated i don\'t think someone should be able to make up a last name all by himself. Everyone would have a different lastname and that doesnt make much sense or is very realistic.
Maybe on char creation you could choose which family (house, could vary with races) you want to belong too. And with that choice you gain a last name belonging to that family.
-
as Xalthar said would be perfect.
Niberius \"Niber\" Nebuchadnezzar is in the house!!

I agree, well, with the names reflecting races bit anyway, drawfs with names like Bjorn Stronginthearm and krans with rock related names (hence my character being called kwartz) But to be honest this is a persons own choice as everyone will adapt the way this world is interperated to their own choice and beliefs.
If there were second names added this means distinguishing ppl from npcs is harder and means daft names are easier.

see, there\'s a problem with that, family idea... who\'s to say that a player couldn\'t form his own family? or that someone couldn\'t be blackballed from his family, or even that someone couldn\'t be a complete loner. forsaking any family ties?
In other games I\'ve played, players form their own families, on my AC servers, within my allegiance, we have the tallfellows, the vendars, the trevors, and a couple of other smaller families. Then there\'s a bunch of people who don\'t have families, like me.
-
you could create a new family, but being in a larger family might have some benefits
-
hehe, I wanna try and drag the tallfellows over, they\'re the best family a guy could have, though some of you peeps are pretty effin cool too!
-
I stand by my idea, the Nickname I was talking about being your character name...
And yeah my alt Xalthar is member of the LW
-
i think it would add some realism to the game... like lotr or something like that
-
yeah, having full names add to the fantasy feeling of the game, and makes it more fun... so it\'s a good idea which I think should be in the game...
-
I agree, although, with some restrictions. Banning names like YoMaMa and 1337. I might be the only one, but I wouldnt like to see 25 different versions of Legolas (LegoLAS, L3g01az etc.) Perhaps some sort of restriction would be handy?
-
This would be alright as long as it did not disturb gameplay. The names that some people already have in game make it hard enough to /tell them as it is. The full name should be an additional detail of the character, but should not be necessary either. Some people I know have gone by their nick for so long that really no one knows them by their real name anymore.
Maybe a system that where you target a player and type /name you could see their full name...or better yet it prompts the person to accept letting you know the name. That way if they don\'t want to tell you their name you don\'t know it. *shrugs*

maybe to create a new family u had to verify with devs? and of course no numbers in name
