Good to hear that some of you are happy about your school..
I go on the technology Class and I feel like i\'m wasting time on that pointless class,, 2 years untill I graduate!! 2 years!!! Then I can finally choose a school where I can learn some serius computer grafix.
But the students are great...

man, it\'s just money issues and arguing with the wife about them, had to skip school today because we can\'t pay for daycare. 95 bucks a week

well, nicky\'s got a grandma and a great grandma, he\'s too energetic for great grandma, and she\'s got a lot of breakables... grandma works full time, and my dad\'s not in good health, as in he might not see his granddaughter born. so we don\'t have anyone that can look after him in the family. and I don\'t trust dani\'s best friend with him.

hmm, in Sweden there is a thing called \"daily mom\", which is a person who babysits children, for a fee. My mom used to be one, and she charged about 2$ an hour.
Title:
Post by: tygerwilde on July 01, 2003, 07:40:39 pm
heh, yeah, we\'d be lucky if we got a babysitter for under 10 an hour here. which is part of why our day care is so expensive... that and the fact that the only place we could find that had room for a 2 year old was a catholic school...

god, every time I think about that, I wanna vomit. they\'re already teaching him to pray at lunchtime... ick
Title: I just gotta say...
Post by: mrsamd on July 01, 2003, 08:02:41 pm
Tyger, man I know how tough that whole situation is.
I wish you all the luck in the world.

Financial problems aren\'t as bad as they seem... well they don\'t throw you in jail for not being able to pay your bills, at least.  ;)

As far as the praying goes... I am raising Christians due to the public school system... can you believe that?
Title:
Post by: Xalthar on July 02, 2003, 01:44:56 am
Here in DK, we are tought about christianity in elementary school up to 7th grade... then we have a class called Religion in 3.g (senior year) in the Gymnasium (which is the equivalent of High School) and are tought about the theology and different things behind religion... I\'m not very enthusiastic about that, but hey, It can\'t be that bad...

As for babysitters... we have something called communal day care here in Denmark, which we pay through taxes, so in a way it\'s free, and then again it isn\'t...

And I\'m looking forward to chemistry only.. although I am not that bad at physics or math either... ;)

Post by: tygerwilde on July 02, 2003, 01:48:00 am
no, we can\'t be thrown in jail....
we can lose our apartment. we can lose our phoneline, our electricity, and just about everything else...

I just hope they don\'t take our son if we don\'t have anyplace to live.
Title:
Post by: Xalthar on July 02, 2003, 02:54:58 am
That would be horrible! I hope nothing of that sort happens to you tyger...!

The year that has gone we have learned programs like: Windows Explorer, Word, excel, outlook express,, this year we will learn frontpage *sign*..

you think thats bad... my first semester I had to take a computer basics course because they required everyone to take it to ensure that they knew how to do their term papers on a computer...

Title: Another Dane!
Post by: Wolfmane on July 04, 2003, 12:08:34 am
Yes seems like us Scandinavians are turning out in force. I\'m already working on a few others to join in on PS.

Only for the Danes, Swedes and Norwegians among us:  8) Ain\'t we snobbish

Hva\' synes I?
Title:
Post by: Xalthar on July 04, 2003, 12:59:16 am

Well enough of this, I\'ll return to english... for now :P

Hi Xaltar,

I\'ll take a look at Arcane, thanks.

Sorry everyone else but it\'s sooooo tempting!
Title:
Post by: Xalthar on July 04, 2003, 02:04:49 pm
Well, hope you like it :)... and really hope you\'ll join... just send a mail to the email at the join section of the page.

Ja jeg hedder Malentor I r?det, og han er ogs? min main character.. Du joiner bare, for der er stadig en ledig plads som crystal magicker... vi ses forh?bentlig i r?det s?..

haha :D yeah, it\'s not quite as melodious as swedish :P

I\'ve only heard one person who came from another country speak flawless danish.. and she was from russia :P

perhaps the harder the language the better they fit together with danish :P
Title:
Post by: tygerwilde on July 05, 2003, 05:29:19 pm
I don\'t think pronunciation would be the biggest problem for me, sure it\'s probably hard. I can just never remember what words mean. I took spanish for a year, I still can\'t remember what most of the words I learned mean. I just don\'t think I can learn another language, you know?
Title:
Post by: Xalthar on July 05, 2003, 05:44:28 pm
ok tyger, I\'ve met quite a few americans and none of them where able to pronounce this the right way : \"R?d gr?d med fl?de\" :D man it\'s fun to hear people run amok because they can\'t say it right... some actually get quite pissed :D of course I can\'t tell if you are pronouncing it right since I can\'t hear you.. and I\'m not sure you even now what \"?\" is :P
Title:
Post by: Caldazar on July 05, 2003, 06:03:06 pm
Oh, I do! I do! I learned it when I was on a fotball-camp on Bornholm (an island). :D
Title:
Post by: tygerwilde on July 05, 2003, 06:11:40 pm
first of all, I wouldn\'t even try to say it untill I\'ve heard someone say it. in front of me. That would be most peoples first mistake.

and no, I don\'t know what it is, I\'ve heard some danes speak
If I really had to guess, I\'d say it\'s that sound that\'s kind of like a double o, or a long u, but with a strained overtone...

I honestly don\'t know.

I still say the actual remembering the words would be a much worse problem

I can just see me now, asking for a donut, and telling someone I like being reamed in my ear.... or something equally as foul...
Title:
Post by: Caldazar on July 05, 2003, 06:38:31 pm
heh, well his ? is the same thing as the swedish \'?\'. Not that you understand more of that.. just todays tooltip ;)
Title:
Post by: tygerwilde on July 05, 2003, 11:40:40 pm
well, I still don\'t know what it is, I\'m not going to try to pronounce it, and I refuse to make another guess...

Tell me about it Xalthar!!!!!!!!!11

I\'m from South Africa, married a Dane and had to learn the language, some call it a throte disease. Took me 2 years to learn, 3 more to become fluent and another 2 to work on the accent, I\'m almost there.

But I CAN say \"R?d gr?d med fl?de\" and it doesn\'t sounds so bad anymore  8) .

Tyger me and Xalthar both live in Denmark (he is a native Viking) that\'s where the Danish comes to pop out now and then.  Malentor is Finish but they speak Swedish over there as a second language and Swedish and Danish are closely related so he throws some Swedish in once in a while.
Title:
Post by: Xalthar on July 06, 2003, 09:19:11 pm
well the closest you can come to describing the letter \"?\" is that it is pronounced \"OE\" We are not pressuring you to do anything against your own will tyger, so don\'t worry ;)

Caldazar... Bah, Bornholm is almost swedish :P us from the mainland make fun of the Bornholmers because they sound like a mixture of danish and swedish :D

hey Wolf, it\'s Tepsu who\'s from finland, not malentor, that\'s my alt. :]

Post by: Xalthar on July 07, 2003, 03:39:45 am
heh :P Since I haven\'t heard anyone giving birth, I couldn\'t say...  You could record some audio sessions of you trying to pronounce the letter \"?\" and post the link here, then I would gladly correct you :P :P :P

let\'s stop the nonsense about the letter \"?\" now shall we... and move on to \"?\" instead :P NOT!! :D

yep \"?\" is somewhat like \"?\" and \"?\" is somewhat like \"?\"...

don\'t know about \"?\" though :D perhaps you use that in sweden too??
Title:

As a matter of fact, we do. Like in the swedish word for Xalthar: ?sna. ;)

Ok people your local Danish expert is back again!  8)

Xalthar, sorry \'bout the alt confusion, jeg er bare snotforvirret nogen gange. Og s? bare for sjovt:

?re v?re vores sprog, sp?rge mig bare det er ikke noget sp?g, ?h nej det er noget man kan n?!  :D

:D There is a sentence for you with words used with ? ? ? tiger.

Actually, you are more correct than you know Tiger. Danish has 3 vowels extra in the alphabet but it has over 50 vowel sounds in pronounciation!  X(  8o  ;(  ?(

Tyger, the ? sound (actually there are several pronounciations of it depending on where the stress is placed in a word) is practised best whilst sitting on the John during a particularly bad case of constipation. When the release finaly comes the ? sound is pronounced flawlessly.  :P
