Perhaps this is possible, perhaps it isn\'t. Would it make sense to program variables into weapons (in MB, you know, the ones that you don\'t do anything with) that would increase the movement speed, and or the jumping height of the character, something that is already in the game. Possibly it would give more initiative to those playing, and in my little experience with programming, I think it would be doable even at these early stages. Just a thought.

Why would holding a sword make you run faster or jump higher? Shouldn\'t these variables be governed by the PC\'s attributes and skill levels in those respective abilities?
-
Cuz its magic! :D
plus if you ever played a game like final fantasy 7 you will notice a simular thing, if you put certain nodes (i think thier called that, i forget) into the weapon it increases certain attributes such as strength and speed........ plus its magic! :D

Why am I starting to get the impression I\'m being followed? ;)
Really, I don\'t think he was talking about magic or enchantments or Materia-type equipment (although thinking about it, that\'s not a bad idea), but more of the player\'s skill in using the weapon, or perhaps the weapon quality... or something...
Please clarify. :)

hehe yea i noticed i was doing that to :) your the only one posting and there is nothing to do, so im bored
im not sure on what you want me too clarify so um yea.... i like the idea with the weapons quality and your skill as well as the materia thing (thats what its called, i havent played that game for so long..... cant wait till ffx-2 ocmes out!)

I think he was talking about weapon-attributes. Just like a sword can do fire-damage +4, it could give its wielder more strenght, dex or hp. Right?
-
true, or it could give the opposite effect, like it could raise the attack power a lot but lower your hp a lot also.
Has anyone ever played warcraft 3, in there one of the swords is possessed and all, maybe something could run off of that idea, like maybe there could be weapons that although they have good powers it could weaken you in battle over time, sort of like a posion, lol i dont know......
-
... I\'m talking about the game right now... nothing needs to make sense except bonuses for the people that collect the most gems, attributes aren\'t even programmed yet...
-
Moogie, Think about some of the wepons in Morrowind; they had pants that could make you levitate, daggers that could make you jump highter, a pair of boots that made you run faster (And also blinded you, hence they were \"Boots of Blinding Speed\"), things along those lines. All effects were temporary so it\'s not like it was a huge advantage, and sometimes it was only for a few seconds.

Yes but Grey is still talking about some small changes to the game \"right now\", and not something that would have to hang on in the next release... just some small changes so that players would stay on longer to collect gems, in order to gain some boosts through weapons that are worth bragging about, am I right? :)
-
yea but the thing is nothing really else can be added right now, things like that would get too complex to just think up of right now. Maybe once the combat in the next version comes out it will also come with it, considering then that our characters stats may matter. Plus there is really no reason for any of that yet since all you can do is collect crystals..... maybe the only fun thing now could be \"The Anti-Lag Shield\" lol :D
