It was a coin toss between posting in this area or the Forum Requests one, considering neither of them are properly suited to the problem I\'m experiencing.
When entering information into my profile, I can\'t type more than about five or six words into the description field, otherwise I receive an \'Invalid Information\' error when I submit the information.
Similarly, when adding alot of text or a long URL into the signature field, I get the same results.
It\'s not all that important, I know. But I would like to type more than a couple of words, just to give the rare breed of profile-viewing people out there something interesting to read for their effort.
Thanks for your time. Hope somebody can suggest a solution for this. :)
[Edit: Note for Vengeance, if you happen to come by here: On my last account I had the same problem and you offered to put my sig image in for me. I don\'t want to trouble you with something petty like that again, it would just be nice to know if there is some way I can avoid this problem myself. Thanks]

Why do you have so many accounts?
-
hey venge, hmm i dont know if it applies to you but are you a dev? because no one has yet to answer my thread..... its like 5 below this one
-
Hehe, I only have two. I completely forgot the username/password combination I used for my previous one, so after trying several different names I decided to just start anew. I didn\'t like the name Miss_Moogie anyway...
So I take it that this is a fault with the forum itself and cannot be rectified unless an admin adds the information for me? Forget it then I guess.

I would guess it is a W98, IE version problem or something like that.
I would be happy to edit your profile myself if you PM me your request.
Note: Anyone else who wants personal sig file attention from me needs to post their own 30 question FAQ and answer a 100 newbie questions and then I\'ll help them also. ;)

Thank you very kindly, but it\'s really not that much of a problem. Just wanted to see what I could try- I\'ll see if updating IE makes a difference (there\'s no way anyone could convince me to drop 98SE though ;)).
-
I have the newest version of IE, and I still cant get it to work either. Also, it doesnt work with my Mozilla on my linux boot partition.
Sry to bring this thread up again...
-
How dare you resurrect my umpteen-month-old thread. :P Hehe, just kidding.
It still isn\'t fixed for me either, but I don\'t care about it anymore. Try a Google search perhaps, or ask the creators of the forum (WoltLab GbR) and see if it\'s a known problem.
-
Well I resurected because everyone keeps flaming newbies not to open new threads on old topics........ but now im teetering on the edge of spamming so ill get back on topic 8) .
At least my smilies work in IE...... They dont even work in Mozilla.
And I cant even ask vengeance to put in my sig pic, since I havent written a newbie guide and all.......

you forgot the username was Miss_Moogie... you... forgot, but you\'re mentioning it right away?!
anyway...
Could the database columns be too tiny? Does anyone know what the the exact number of characters is that you have to enter in the field before it stops working?

Gah! Confound it! As you can all see, I have found a semi-answer to my problem......... I typed a little of the img line then pressed submit, and did this numerous times. Yet when I came to final bracket.... it wouldnt let me put it in! GAH! :(
Can someone please put the bracket in for me? Ill pm you my password....... but it has to be someone thats trustworthy!

bah, who in the nine hells reads what\'s on peoples\' profile descriptions anyways? :P:P

Well, Moogie helped me out by suggesting that the forums don\'t support the .png file format.......
So I changed the file formats to jpegs and now they work ! :)
