I have some ideas for new guilds, and out of boredom (and an attack on lw) here they are
-a cook\'s guild (count me in if this is liked)
-a gentlemenly villians guild (we need some nice evil ppl :) )
-a smith\'s guild
-even a roonskape guild, possibly
-etc...
edit: just saw this,
\"Too bad there is no merchant guild (that I know of) who could handle such secure transactions... \"
-ayshe
Duh! *smacks self in forehead* that\'s a great idea too!
-
Wonderful idea monketh, there are many guilds on many parts of PS but some areas are not covered at all as yet.
I like the Smith\'s guild, gentlemanly villians (great idea!) and Ayshe\'s idea of Merchant\'s guild.
Get going with one of these, we\'ll support you and refer potential members that are interested in those areas of specialisation to you. We\'d rather see people committed to a new guild in an area they really enjoy being part of than just \"empire building\" by trying to rake in as many members as we possibl? can. New guilds in uncovered areas is to the advantage of PS and will improve the gaming experience for all of us!
*bows to monketh in deep respect for initiative*

Well, perhaps the merchants guild would be unofficial, like an association (no one\'s gonna quit their guild). But I like LW, and I was just suggesting. Oh well, I\'ll just be in two guilds :P .
my favorites
-cooks
-the league of gentlemen villians
[edit: show some interest ppl please... at least tell me I\'m crazy if you think so]
-
first off, you\'re crazy
second, here\'s an old post of mine regarding merchant guilds.

What about a merchant\'s guild then? There isn\'t one now that i know of. This guild could act as some kind of a labor union or something. Every person who wants to own a shop first has to go to this guild and apply for one. He has to explain what his shop will sell, and show how much money he currently has for this undertaking. If the board of this guild approves it they can grant him permission to open his shop, they could appoint a building to him, and assist him financially if needed. The owner of this shop could then offer his merchandise on this merchants guild\'s forum.
The guild will assist the owner in any way they can, and in return the owner of the shop has to give say, 10% of his week\'s winnings to the guild.
I haven\'t really worked this idea out yet, but i think it could offer some great advantages for all involved.
-
merchant guild didn\'t appear cause for know, you only earn weapons, which is more for fighters
so people don\'t see the utility of merchant for now ; it\'ll come with next version that will include an economic system, hopefully ; )

Good point Jefka. But there is not really any reason why a merchant guild and its ideas and structure could not be started up. There is no real functioning magic as yet either but there are magic guilds ( 8)) who prepare for it and like to contribute ideas to the development of magic and spells in PS.
By the same token a merchant guild can be started and contribute ideas for the economy in PS.
So if there is anyone out there who wants to start a guild based on merchants try taking Keldorn/Monketh\'s ideas and build on it. I\'d much rather see a new Merchant guild then another guild in an area of specialisation where there already are many guilds.

Hi folks,
the guild concept is still not very far grown I guess. As from the documentation every profession should have their own guild, but for now all guilds tend to be an \"all inclusive\" guild.
So in future there may perhaps be a difference between ingame guilds and those external ones. So until there are no professions ingame, it doesn\'t make much sens to have that kind of guilds (thats my opinion).
If there would be something like ingame guilds I\'d join the alchemists guild...;)
-
Hi Kundalf,
I must confess I don\'t know if there is any Alchemist guild as yet. However, as long as guilds that exist now out of game can meet the criteria for in-game guilds (even if they have to restructure to do so) there is no reason why existing guilds could not continue in-game.
From my (very short :( ) experience the advantage of creating a guild now is that one networks well with those who share an interest in the same aspects of PS. That networking and the friendships that develop out of it is worth a lot both for it\'s own sake and for when one becomes more active in a new version of PS in-game. Also the chances of contributing meaningfully to the actual development of ideas etc. in PS to be incorporated into the game are better if one has brainstormed ideas before presenting them.
From those points of view creating a guild now, especially in an area of PS that is not yet covered by an existing guild (possibly alchemism) is not a bad idea at all. If you are really interested in Alchemism maybe you should consider starting a guild for alchemists and contribute ideas on that to PS. Just an idea :P .

Hmm... well, for now we could issue a trade-worthy seal of approval :)
Does anyone want to join a gentlemen villians guild or chef\'s guild or merchant\'s guild right now? Or should I give up on it for now?
[Edit: It is? *?*]
-
merchants guild is so OLD something new needs to be started
-
Woooo, Chef\'s Guild, hell yes! Ummm, but yeah, that should probably wait until you can acutally use the cooking skill.

Well actually I have thought that what we really need is a Tavern guild. That could include cooks, brewers, bards/musicians and tavern owners. In short all who would seek a profession in the bed-and-board department. That is broad enough a concept that such a a guild will be able to be included, maybe with some adjustments, as an official guild within an official category in-game.
As an after thought a spy network can also be part of or associated with this guild. Taverns could be excellent places for gathering information, be used as \"letterboxes\" for secret communication as well as refuge for someone running from or hiding from someone else.
I\'d like to hear if there are any comments on such an idea.
-
You forgot Innkeepers.
Anyway, I like this idea, it covers several sections @ once. So, is anyone interested?
-
This is a refreshing thread Monketh, especially in Guilds forum. Just some constructive ideas and a good tone, not so much bickering, empire building and king kong sized ego\'s :P . I really hope we can keep it this way.
Now on the topic, maybe you should post a thread in the newby section with a link to this thread. Could be that some new people would like to be part of or start new guilds.
Also, why don\'t you make a post summarising all the ideas here so as to give an easier overview, we can update it from time to time.
I like the idea of a seal of approval for merchants, inkeepers etc. Having them form an association rather than a guild for now. That would mean that players that maybe are in a guild already but have an interest in merchant/inkeeping as well can join the interest group association without joining a guild as such and having to either leave their existing guild or be in more than one. One could create a website and forum for them to discuss, maybe even a chatroom.

Good point, what you describe as interest group is what I called ingame guild. But right now such a thing is pointless, since there are no benefits you could have from joining it in this stage of the game.
Earlier this year there was this project started to aggregate guilds under one roof. Sorry pal, I forgot your name and the name of your site.... (/me has been away quite a bit ;()
Maybe this project could be used for such a purpos.

A great idea and ambitious and worthwhile project - give it your support!
-
Cool! Now if only I had 5 members. :(
Edit:
Monketh\'s Tavern & Merchant Association:
Well, I\'m not forming a guild. This is an idea disscussed on the forum. An association the issues seals of approval for Merchants & Taverns, a place to disscuss such things, and an issuer of titles.
Oh, and a gathering place for those who dwell there (cooks, musicians, rogues)
-
Any Merchants, tavern owners, musicians and cooks out there (except Kada :P ). Come on ppl let\'s make this happen!
PS Monketh as this is not a guild maybe you should post a new thread either in general discussion or Hydlaa plaza where more ppl and especially newcomers can see it without having to go to Guilds Forum. Post a link from here to that so we can follow you.
-
Is it really good idea to place this association in guildware?
I mean this rule:
\"Both you and all the people signed up must have unguilded characters available to be signed up. \"
[Edit: It looks like it will be ok now, since they might tweak member settings...]
-
i would be pleased to join and support u monketh

monketh when do you plan to get this thing opperatioal i kinda want my booze now :D

I\'m gonna go see if guildware\'s up again, and *hands seperot a mug of Monketh\'s Invisible Ale (tm) vintage 3 minutes ago* here you go sep :P
Thank you Mr. Bonez/enraged
-
It\'s a great idea indeed you can also ask the dev team to make a market place so people can actualy buy stuff from you when you are online :D the only problem is that you also need to buy the stuff first :( so you need alot of crystals or diamonds but that way you do create a form of economy in the game COOL
greets Dorbian

links dead
this is i think a merchant guild should work.
you have your base guild of people who mine and researcha nd such. defend a territory near the center of the map. a guild could send a messanger to trade and we would be an open trade resource. ie some guild has 500 wood to trade for 100 ore. our gouild would use the wood as curency and buy things from other guilds using wood. or some item. it would basicelly be the ebay of ps.
-
the link isn\'t dead i looked at it just a second ago
