Title: help please
Post by: sepaen on July 29, 2003, 04:22:58 pm
When I try 2 create a char, a white screen comes up and all I see are the arrows 2 choose your stats.  I\'ve downloaded everything from the primary download server but when i click on psclient a black screen comes up and says this:

no CEL environment variable set!
Warning: Failed to load \'csddsimg\' ; use \'-verbose\' argument for details.
Warning: Failed to load \'csddsimg\' ; use \'-verbose\' argument for details.
Warning: Failed to load \'csddsimg\' ; use \'-verbose\' argument for details.

If you have any information how to get the syestem to download please reply.

Did you run the updater? Make sure you have the latest drivers for all your cards.

i just updated it, but still failed 2 load and continued 2 say:

no CEL environment variable set!

Warning: Failed to load \'csddsimg\' ; use \'-verbose\' argument for details.
Warning: Failed to load \'csddsimg\' ; use \'-verbose\' argument for details.

all i downloaded were these:

Primary Download Site
Window Release (98, ME, NT, 2000, XP)
 PSV0.2.010.Part1 (20,000,000 bytes)
 PSV0.2.010.Part2 (20,000,000 bytes)
 PSV0.2.010.Part3 (20,000,000 bytes)
 PSV0.2.010.Part4 (20,000,000 bytes)
 PSV0.2.010.Part5 (10,028,941 bytes)
 Reassembler - (123 bytes)

do I need to down load the secondary site to?
I also have not downloaded PSV0.2.010.tar.gz yet, do i need 2 download  them?

My suggestion is to run planeshift with the \'-verbose\' arguement like it suggests, then post the details.  Also, the OS type, and computer specs could prove extraordinarily useful for us to help you.

Here\'s my OS and system:

Window 98 Revision 4.10

Pentium 3 533 MHz processor

128 MB RAM

3dfx Voodoo3-3500 Graphics Controller

Do I not meet the minimum requirements?  I couldn\'t find any requirements on the web page, so I figured I\'d be alright.  I played Everquest on this computer and it was fine.

Oh, and I have the latest Voodoo Drives (like 2 years old, lol; 3dfx went out of business :()

Your computer should be fine, right now. You might want to upgrade it if you want to play it in a year or so.
I suggest you do like xlorepdarkhelm said, dont ask me how you do it though..

Well, it\'s quite simple if you know how.

Right click the run_me_first.bat file and choose the Program tab. In the cmd line field, at the end of the text, add \" -verbose\". So the line should read something like this:

E:\\PLANE~21\\RUN_M~18.BAT -verbose

Excuse the strangeness of the path, my installation files are on a CD. :)

yeah, I\'m having the same problem, I tried runing the run_me_first with the -verbose added. is it suppose to be a - (minus) or a ~ (tilda)
