w0rd... respond to this message if you think i am the man.
Edit: cause i AM the man.
-
...this game, and it\'s engine, is opensourced.
-
LMAO!
Oh, let me go back then, i didn\'t see any links for the source when i was looking around on the site.
I guess i would go and download the source wouldn\'t i.
Well thanks for the info, i hope the door code is helpful anyway

I think the sourcecode can be found on sourceforge.
-
just use cvs...
...to contribute code, ask the devs first (maybe you meet one live in irc)
-
hehe... I\'m sure our devs are capable of making doorways :P The only reason we don\'t have them now is probably becuase they havn\'t been deemed necessary yet.
-
well i was walking around that initial town, and... there were 0 doors, yet there were... \'doors\' that were glued onto buildings...
-
I understand - and I\'ve thought about it and seeing that this is an open source project - sorry I laughed earlier... *grumbles*... but anyways there are reasons why they are not there... nonetheless you might as well submit your door stuff just to nudge the devs into looking at the doors... but I really don\'t think you need worry about the doors being gone in the next version... or maybe the one after that...
-
Sorry to say it but your door code is 0% of what we need and about 1% of the complexity of what it would take to add it.
The other poster was right that doors are simply not deemed a high priority right now. Think of it like GTA3--you can\'t go in every building in that game either.

I hope ure not saying u will have buildings in planeshift that will never EVER be enterable, that will just make the game very non-linear.
-
I\'m sure they will fill as many buildings possible - but filing every building isn\'t allways necessary - besides the majority of players will never enter most buildings anyways
-
They use a random room/zone generator in Anarchy for making rooms in every building... some are locked, of course, but if you are able to pick the lock, you can easily enter..
That would give thieves something to do, or burglars :P
I don\'t see why not something similar should be added.. It actually makes the cities more lifelike if you are able to break into peoples homes :P:P
-
Don\'t forget this is going to be an online game. Having each and every building having a certain number of rooms (and the rooms being filled) and probably NPCs in the room would require one hell of a .exe file to run and this being an online game the smaller the download and the simpler the loading times the faster the game runs.

Wait...so games in pre-alpha are supposed to be 100% completed now...?[/COLOR]

Programmers have glue?

And Anarchy \"Online\" isn\'t an online game?? Oh, and it\'s .exe file isn\'t one hell of an .exe file.. actually only 656kb :P
The game runs virtually lag free on machines with enough RAM even with a 56k, and it has about 7 zones (or more) for each room... So I don\'t see why it should be a problem...
download speed doesn\'t really matter much in Online games, since the amount of data transfered isn\'t very large...
-
yeah it would be nice if most (if not all) buildings were habitable like in Morrowind

yeah, and best of all; it\'s possible!
and if made just a bit like that of Anarchy, it would allow accesible rooms in every building...!

sounds like instanced environments... and from what I\'ve heard the dev team is split on that issue... although they might have decided for or against it by now

I don\'t see why we shouldn\'t be able to go into every building, it makes the game a lot more lifelike and fun to explore. Besides, I thought the .exe didn\'t contain the map, I thought that was in a seperate file? Correct me if I\'m wrong. Oh, wait, are you talking about the download?
