This is kind of a short post, but how about some way to tell when someone is afk or lagged out.  You could use the classic \"Zzz\" for all I care.

I\'d definitely make good use of such a feature. You\'d have to include an \"auto-away message\" type thingy for when people try to /tell you something, that will let them know that you are AFK.

Could be togglable with a command as simple as /afk .

Personally when u dont get a reply isnt that kinda like like automatically telling u that, otherwise uve got some serious emotional problems to think everyones ignoring u =)

Yeah, it\'s annoying when you\'re not sure if someone is deliberately ignoring you or is just making a cuppa.

wont this just lead to huge amounts of ppl just hanging about on the servers lifeless? this is what happend on ragnarok with speach bubbles, when theyd restart a server out of the 11000 ppl on only about 3000 would sign back on straight away, this means that about 7000 (obviously some ppl will have thought stuff it and not signed back on for this reason) 7/11 of ppl were afk, and only around 1/8 ppl were merchants =)

anyway although im taking an objective stance im not against this, im just saying =)

Well, you know how they would counter that don\'t you? Just program an automatic timeout to disconnect idle players after 15 or so minutes of inactivity. I think if anyone is gone longer than a quarter of an hour, they deserve to get kicked. :P

If u can\'t be attacked when in afk, then what\'s stopping a thief going afk after he steals? He can just resume and then afk again every 10 min until the person he stole from goes. Unless u have to wait for 20 sec before u can afk.

(I\'m assuming u can\'t be attacked while afk  :D )

You should be attacked whilst being AFK, if not, whats stopping someone from doing /afk when he/she gets in to trouble?

Afk shouldn\'t stop you from being attacked, it should just let others know that you\'re not at the computer. Maybe you shouldn\'t be pickpocketable tohugh, as people with three z\'s ove their heads would make easy targets.

If you want to AFK, you just need to go to a hidden corner where yu won\'t annoy others....

and when I play and I see such a person, facing a wall and not moving, I am old enough to guess he\'s AFK...

Furthermore as sai before, AFK players are a source of lag...



For all these it isn\'t a necessity to have that /afk option. Commands and shortcuts must not be evelopped to enance laze and amtisocial behaviours

i agree they are a source of lag but what if YOU need to go meet the toilet or something  :P wouldn\'t something like an afk make it alot easier otherwise people get mad at you cuz your not responding.

think about it ;)

well when you wanna go to the toilets you don\'t have to go right in the minute (unless you ate too much melon), so thqt you hqve time to go to a quiet place where you\'ll be qble to stqy for a few minutes.

and you won\'t stqy more than 5 minutes in the toilets.


So a good comprimise would be this AFK possibilitym but it would kick you automatically after let\'s say 10 or 15 minutes

yah, sounds good. So u can be attacked but not pickpocketed, and u get kicked after 10-15 min inactvity? That\'s fair.

Maybe there could also be a Delay to go afk after doing certain actions such as Striking a blow, casting a spell or Pickpocketing.

This is not intrended as a flame but isnt it self evident from the god damn context? i mean come on your grammer and spelling seems good so your logic shjould be ok but... Delay = 10-30 seconds.... AS in when you hit something/some 1 steal or do certain actions you can\'t use the afk thing if it stops you geting pickpocketed or attacked..

Planeshift has been delayed for over a year, he means how long the daley will be I say about 1 or 2 minutes
