Jeh, i think it\'s time to make second AO recruitment thread for AO. The old one was a bit full of off-topic jokes and at 180 posts getting too long for anyone to read through. So here goes AO Recruit Mark II ....

Arcane Order is a guild for mages and wizards. All races in Yliakum are accepted as members, the only requirement is that the player\'s character will practice magic.

Arcane Order has 9 ranks  and 3 branches . Also it covers all 6 ways of Magic  in Yliakum with a Council Member overseeing the practice of Magic in each of these. The 6 member Council is the Authoritative body of AO and makes decissions by consensus and/or majority vote.

The 3 branches are :

More info about all our branches, the ranking system, membership policy and AO in general can be found on our homepage.

About the ranking system can be said that all new member start out as an apprentice. There is a minimum of 3 weeks trial period for Apprentices during which time we get to know the new member and guage his/her commitment, activity and suitability as member of AO.
An active and committed member that \"gels\" well with the other members will be promoted to the rank of Adept according to merit. All promotion decission are made by Council.

The second promotion opportunity will allow the member to choose one of the 3 branches named above, i.e. SpellSword, NightBlade or Warlock.

This is to announce yet a new member for AO. VeNoM has just joined our ranks, a warm welcome to you. Make yourself at home, VeNoM, we will take good care of you  :D

To all AO members the order has been decreed, take VeNoM in and make our newest member feel right at home!

I confirm what Druke has said above, for every new member we are getting closer to the possibility of AO closing recruitment on a voluntary basis and changing it to a Invitation-only mode. We want to structure the order well and make sure that all our members are well networked. At the rate that members are streaming in we might need to close the free-for-all recruitment policy.

So this is NOT a drill, repeat ......
ahem, I mean..... this is NOT just a recruitment publicity stunt, repeat .......

If you are seriously considering joining AO hurry up, before it might be too late. ;(

Boy!  you talking about me... boy!

Edit: no seriously - the Arcane Order is the only Magical Guild in all of Yliakum at this point and we are proud of the extremely loyal fanbase that we have so far recruited into our ranks.  So if you intend to stick around with Planeshift until the forseen end-date (I think the common forecast is around when either Tucks the Linux Penguin dies or the Chinese invade Turkey) then the Arcane Order is the right guild for you.  Remember although we strongly emphasize on magic, one does not have to be a pure mage.  My character for example is a kran warrior, who is the devoted (if thickheaded) bodygaurd of Illyria the White.

For any other poor ppl reading this thread it IS about recruitment for new members to AO. Right now we are displaying how much fun we have in AO. Also this is a test, if you get scared away by Mad Mumblers, be they Englishmen or Monks (no real difference there  8o ), you are not fit to be an AO member. A Mage needs to be able to concentrate on chanting his spells no matter how bad the background noise and distractions are  :P

We are happy to announce that AO and Rangers guild have committed to a comprehensive alliance between our two guilds. The exact terms of our alliance agreement are not publicly know, save to say that we will back each other up to the hilt.

AO takes pride in it\'s loyalty to it\'s allies and therefore we choose them carefully. Congratulations to both ourselves and Rangers  :D

This post won\'t make much sense now. I just deleted nearly 2 entire pages of back-to-back spam posts. Come on guys... you can do better than this. This thread was created to get away from that crap and now its own members spam it up again?

It\'s okay to have a couple of chit-chat posts here and there. Stuff like that is sociable and funny and doesn\'t get deleted. But 2 pages of it... that\'s just disrespectful to the person who created this topic in the first place.

But still, yes, it is stupid to get the thread all spammed up (not saying that I\'m innocent)

We should, of course, concentrate on getting more members to this most excellent guild.

   1. Spellsword - This branch is for fighters who practice magical skills to aid in combat, thus Fighter/Mages. Our spellswords are our protection, the threat of their revenge serves to keep our guild at peace and Spellsword will protect fellow members on quests etc.
   2. NightBlade - This branch is for rogues who use magic to aid improve their stealth, spying, stealing, backstabbing etc. (you know, the stuff rogues usually do). They are thus Rogue/Mages. Nightblades serve as AO\'s eyes and ears, they provide us the necessary intelligence and subversive capability we need to survive in a dangerous world.
   3. Warlock - This branch is for our pure mages, who will mainly practice their magical abilities. The Warlock branch is the mainstay of Mages that make Ao the Mage guild that it is, however all three branches have equal status and are equally important to AO.

   3. Character description of the character you intend to play in PS

Mystra is the dead god of magic in D&D :P

Spellswords, Nightblades and Warlocks are terms used before, granted, but they are also the best at describing what your rank really is within the guild, should you ever get promoted to such... Therefore they are the best..

We don\'t live by code of conduct set by D&D\'ers :P I can honestly say that we chose the ranks from something completely random... The fact that they are all classes in the old game Daggerfall is merely a coinsidence :P :rolleyes:

We are happy to announce that one of our staunchest members has deservingly been promoted to the highest possible rank in AA, bar Council itself, namely that of Arcane. This is an honour we bestow on the best of the best only. Arcane is to us Mages what would be akin to a General in an Army.

AO has been a good guild. Actually, I remember it being formed when I first started playing... a long time ago (about... hmm 10 months to a year now).

You can be sure that you are joining a good guild.

yes, we are an old guild (at least in PS terms), but we don\'t have that oldbie attitude some of the people around here tend to flaunt :P

Eh, Rajene, before you apply to join, you should check our website, so you get to know our guild a bit better, and if you still want to join, come to our irc channel, #arcaneorder @ quakenet, there\'s always some of the council in there(at least if your from europe), so you should have a word with one of us in there.

We\'ll be the first guild that will have a real .com, rangers guild is http://www.seperot.com/rangers, not http://www.rangers.com :D

the whole site is in php/mysql, but yeah, we\'ll put the forum there too, maybe then we can actually acces it :P

I agree. I\'ll never code another forum. (but i don\'t think Axsyrus meant we\'ll do our own forum) :P

But our main site use php code to manage promotions, library and news.

lol, I didn\'t mean we wanted to do our own forums, we don\'t have THAT much free time :P

Anyways, the new website is up and running and the members have all edited their profiles so we\'re back to recruiting again.

Great, a new apprentice, I would like to welcome you to the Arcane Order, please pay a visit to our IRC channel too, most members are there so you can talk to us if you want(there\'s a tutorial for how to use mIRC somewhere on the planeshift website, the #arcaneorder channel is located on the same server as the planeshift fanchannel)

I have one comment on your choice though

Kran + Magic = not very good(although we do have another member like this :P)

Kran + Rogue = pretty bad too

so Kran+Magic+Rogue might not be the best choice there is, but if you really want it, you\'re allways welcome to the Arcane Order :)

Yes. You can find pretty fun but weird combinations. Maybe i\'ll be a druid which use Azure-Red magic. Completely weird isn\'t it?

I mean ppl who said they want to join, came to forums, and added AO sigs in ps forums, though they ARE NOT YET in the Arcane Order. So I just warn everyone and if they want to be sure, go check memberlists at http://www.arcaneorder.com
