Title: Rugby World Cup
Post by: kyp14 on September 28, 2003, 01:24:35 pm
Hey everyone the Rugby World Cup is coming up who do you think is going to win, Naturally being a Aussie I want Australia to win but the way we\'ve been playing the trouble with George Greigan and the loss of John Eels as captain i\'m not sure we can.

Anyway who are you going for and what do you think there chances are

heh, I didn\'t know there was a rugby championship coming up.. But I\'ve always thought of Australia to be good at the game, so I\'m backing you up kyp14, even though you say your chances aren\'t that good... :)

I think Australia will beat England and Wales if we\'re pitted agaisn\'t them but I\'m worried about South Africa and New Zealand, One of these teams is most likely the best in the world at the moment.

We could be beaten by the French (they might be seekin revenge when we beat them in the last World Cup in the Grand Final.... at least I think it was the French)

Great idea with this thread Kyp14!

I\'m originally from South Africa (now live in Denmark that does not evfen have a real rugby team!).

So guess who has my support?  8)  I think this thread is gonna be a hell of a nice place to visit in the next month ot two!

The All Blacks are always the dark horse that everyone has to watch. However, apart from them the 1999 WC winners Australia and 1995 WC winners South Africa are the favorites. Then of course the French, what can one say - when they are playing badly they are useless, but when they play well they are magicians on the field! The problem always is that they swing from brilliant till baseline all the time  :P

So how about opening a betting system in here on the games and especially the finals? If we award anyone who registers x-amount of crystals to bet with we can see who scores the most in the end, crystals and honor that is.

That\'s because we focus on the more \"europeanly popular\" sports... like soccer, or handball... :P

heh heh all the sports we never play or try to ignore, all our good soccer players move to europe but then again thats where they came from.

I agree with you on the French Wolfmane there one weird team one minute there kicking everyone up the ass next minute there licking there wounds.

I\'d like to see one of the smaller teams from like Japan, USA, Samoa and Romania make a stand this year, to make some more vareity in the competition.

And Engalnd well I\'d like them to actually win one of the many sports they invent, they invent it Australia among others whoops there ass at it.

I\'d like to bet somthing to say Australias gonna be in the grand final but I don\'t have much, maybe two or three emralds would do. Anyone to oppose me.

We\'re not that bad at Rugby...we\'re now 6-4 second favourites behind New Zealand.

Not bad. :)

On friday first match is Australia vs Argentina.
Then on Saturday its New Zealand vs Italy, Ireland vs Romania and France vs Fiji.

The competition is in four pools 1,2,3 and 4 the winner of I think 1&2 vs each other and the winner of 3&4 vs each other and then the winners of that go to the grand final.

and to know ones surprise Australia , France , South Africa and New Zealand the four bigshots have been seperated into all four pools, I reckon two of these teams will be in the Grand Final.

EDIT: there were 80 countries involved in the rugby world cup qualifying rounds so maybe denmark did have a team

I\'m from USA, I didn\'t even know we had a rugby team. In fact, I\'ve never even seen a game of rugby.
Then again, I don\'t particularly like any of the sports we have here either, but I don\'t think half the people I know have even heard of rugby.

ENGLAND!! ENGLAND!! ENGLAND!!

Guess who I\'m for??

As for the Frogs (sorry, French) well why\'s everybody so bothered about them there good but we\'ve beat them quite a few times.

I think it will probably be between England, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the French if they play well. Im already involved in my works sweepstake where I\'ve ended up with Romania and Uruguay so it looks like my money has been wasted :(

Once a jolly swagman camped by a Billabong
Under the shade of a Coolabah tree
And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boiled
\"Who\'ll come a-waltzing Matilda with me?\"

Down come a jumbuck to drink at the water hole
Up jumped a swagman and grabbed him in glee
And he sang as he stowed him away in his tucker bag
\"You\'ll come a-waltzing Matilda with me\'\".

Up rode the Squatter a riding his thoroughbred
Up rode the Trooper - one, two, three
\"Where\'s that jumbuck you\'ve got in your tucker bag?\",
\"You\'ll come a-waltzing Matilda with me\".

But the swagman he up and jumped in the water hole
Drowning himself by the Coolabah tree,
And his ghost may be heard as it sings in the Billabong,
\"Who\'ll come a-waltzing Matilda with me?\"

Our pride will not be diminished
up the aussies
