While thinking of things to make the ps world better I came up with the idea that weapons could transform! I think it would be cool if after using a weapon for so long that the weapon would kinda upgrade it\'s self or at least change in appearance! Then I dagger of some sort can be faught with until it becomes a legendary sword or something along those lines! Think of the possibilities of new weapons to be found! Also, about this is that I think that only weaker weapons should be able to do this because if not a player could get a strong weapon and work on it. ( In other words, it wont be able to be matched) So really all weapons should have some kind of limit!
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
-
Cool idea They did something like this in dynasty warrioirs 4. Only thing id add is the weapon can also be blessed and worked on by a smithy. Cant wait to get my amazing one shot crossbow with two shots in it.
-
Nice idea, I have seen it in some games, and it is very fun. Although, all weapons should be able to upgrade, of course, within some limits and without breaking the game balance. I guess that changing it look is work for a blacksmith (yay ^^) and even upgrade, what would be nice is something like bonuses. You have a great proeficiency (dunno how to write it T_T) with low-level daggers, so, you would get damage bonuses with them, maybe even speed bonuses, since you already dominated the way they are used (attack, strentgh required, etc...). That could make a player better with a low-level dagger than one with a high level ubber rare one, as long as the first dude had used the dagger a lot (like 100.000 times) and the second one, none. I know it is not very easy to understand, since my english is awful.
-
Nah, I fully understand you! Also I\'m glad to know you two like my idea!
-
sounds a bit like secret of mana. You found an orb!.
-
I hope they implement this idea it could also be a great way of making profit. Buy dagger for 100 tria, fight with it a lot, sell for 100 000 tria, of course I would only do this after I have my 1 trillion tria worth crossbow :p

Ya but 1 problam, Remember Crimson sky for X-box. By the time my weapon, was uber strong, a stronger gun was out in stores.
so be careful to make sure it wont take TOO long for the weapon to gain XP (Or whatever) Cause it may just become Tedious and soon forgotten.
Sorry to sound Negative but it is a concern you must think about

Hate to be a ruiner, but all common logic denotes a weapon gets weaker and more damaged the more you use it. I mean what next, should armor get better the more it gets hit? And it totally eliminates the point of buying new equipment. Now maybe you should be able to upgrade existing equipment at a forge or something, but by using it... no.
-
Exactly. For now, lets just leave it at \"Go to a forge and Do funky things to it to make it better\" or something like that.
-
Well you know those Xbox games..YUCK.. terrible stuff xbox is but better than Gamecube
In the world of console PS2 is king
Oh and I agree with wedge its not like its a fantasy mmorpg now is it...
-
if it is realism we\'re looking for, then that is a bad idea.
But i do agree on the forge idea, u could like do stuff to you\'r weapons/armor and customize them to make them stronger or more resistant to certain type of attacks, that way we could upgrade our own equipment and make it suit our taste or needs.
-
HEY! how bout adding a Symbole or crest on our armour or shields, Like a guild symbole or family Crest! or even simply change the sheild/Armours colour
Edit: Like going to a Metal Crafter or such

I think he talks about giving the character a bonus for a special weapon, if you use the that same weapon over and over. For example you have bought your sword, used that sword for some time and then you get better in using it. Its the same sword as before, but the char a better feeling for its strengths and weaknesses, so he can use it better.
Its not expierience for a certain weapon on the weapons side, but on the chars side.
i like this idea better than expierience on the weapons side.
-
That\'s pretty much what I was going for Zinder! But, I would still like to see the weapons change (just adds to the fun!) This should be with the different types of weapons and maybe the type of attack could change with the amount of time you spend using it!
-
As a character uses a particular type of weapon, his skill in wielding and using that weapon increases.
As the weapon is used, it degenerates and may eventually break unless it is repaired by a Smith.
Weapons could also be upgraded, but they wouldn\'t \"change\" into something else... just use stronger metals or be magically enhanced, for example. They will still degenerate however.
I think this creates a fair balance and is the most realistic option. Just my 2 cents. :)

Unless the item is indestructible...
I generally don\'t like the idea that my hard worked for armor would just dissapear into thin air, or crumble in the middle of nowhere miles from the nearest smithy.. And personally I don\'t care if it isn\'t realistic if your stuff doesn\'t break...
-
Well maybe it\'ll be like in TES3 where the armor just becomes unusable untill you get it fixed. I don\'t like the idea that such weak metals as iron and bronze couldn\'t get damaged after being severely beaten by the heavy spiked club of a giant ogre. :P
-
i was talking about an extra bonus independent from your skill with a weapon type, only dependant on the time you used a weapon.
Lets say you have a sword. You have used that sword since a year, lets call it \"Oldy\". Then you buy a second sword with the same statistics, lets call it \"Newy\". When using \"Oldy\" you get a bonus, if using \"Newy\" you dont get that bonus. Its a bonus for using a certain weapon for a long time and staying with it. This is completely independant of your skill-level.
This removes some of the pressure to get a new weapon with better stats.
-
Make sense to me. Although not commonly used, I\'ve seen this before. A warrior works better with a weapon he\'s used lots before, because he knows all the weapons faults and strengths.
-
How about only enchanted items grow. Like say you get a Dagger that has a small enchantment of 2 fire dmg on strike (Morrowind!). The weapon its self continues to wear and break like a normal weapon, but the soul grows and becomes more powerful. So now you have a crapy dagger, that has like 30 fire dmg, so you could get the weapon ugraded. I dont think that the weapon itself should grow, that is just metal, but the soul of an enchanted weapon should grow.
-
Yeah and a little fairy that guides us on our path sry jk. But, I agree with mogura(not about th sig though...I will always hate u for that). Yeah, anyways the way he puts it I get more money cause Ill be fixing weapons all the time. And more money=better equipment=more money=yeah so on and so on...oh look I forgive you mogura that was a short always :p
-
Idea is interesting.
Something cool would be that after lots of use, an icon appear to say you can upgrade your weapon, simply because, if you\'ve done it before, it would have been useless.
But the weapon is still degenerating.
It\'s THEORICALLY possible to change the appearance of the weapon. But if it\'s only for fun and take too much ram, will not be interesting.
-
Yeah I guess I\'ll have to agree *sigh* But my idea did branch off into something cool!!!
