\"Auras have been described metaphysically as the radiation of a person\'s spiritual energy through the body, along with the effects of thoughts and feelings being projected at them.\"
To the left is says levels but pretend they aren\'t there. But the words are important.
7-Causal
6-Celestial
5-Template
4-Astral
3-Mental
2-Emotional
1-Etheric
Beginning with Etheric as lowest and Causal as highest, each time you go up a so called \"level,\" though I\'ll try to not use that term; your mental focus goes up while fighting. Maybe different races can only go up so many stages of energy, maybe a Kran can only reach Emotional Energy but an Enkidukai can reach Astral energy. This is still a very rough idea.
I\'d like for people to refine this a bit more, post a reply make it better.

wow thats looks quite cool :) hmmm i know this sounds rather silly but after playing games like wc3 and the custom games inside it called hero seiges prehaps we could use those auras to give abiltys to are allies like meditation every 1 inside the aura gains back mental energy faster etc among other things
P.s many of you must have watched the matrix prehpas if you are expreinced in your your aura you can warp reailty in some way like neo does when he makes the walls and stuff do that weird bendy crap in the first film
-
Uh one mistake I noticed u put enkies at Astral... hehe... I suppose u meant causal.. now dont be making enkies look like they are not the best(which they are) it gives other races false hope, even those dwarves. But its a cool thought and I was wondering wat is causal, im a dimwit dumba(double snakes) and dont know wat this means
-
Causal:
Of, involving, or constituting a cause; Indicative of or expressing a cause
-
hehe thx, you learn something new everyday

Everybody has spiritual energy, but in the monks case it should be so powerful that it is emitted from their bodies, and able to empower both themselves and others.
In essence the auras should be like a warlords battlecry, but with much different affects, (since I\'m sure a warlord cry of some sort could easily happen also).
The affects would be different for each aura, (Geez I sound like I\'m talking about diablo II here) but they would stack on each other, (unlike diablo II) Ex:
Etheric: Extra mana regeneration - Level based
Emotional: Raises wisdom temporarily - Level based
Mental: Increases accuracy/hitroll - Level based
Astral: Increases casting level - Level based, but very small increase.
Template: Extra health regeneration - Level based
Celestial: Adds holy damage to you and your allies physical attacks - Level based
Casual: Adds damage reduction to you and your allies? - Level based
The changes should be small, but this encourages large group combat. People could only be affected by one monks affects at a time, so you can\'t have 20 monk friends pumping all your bonuses through the roof. These were just on-the-spot examples I thought up, definitely room for change.
-
firstly i would off thought that the higher up you go in the auras it would of been increasing your diesired effect more ie causel with regen being ultra powerfull where as emotional would be just a weak regen bonus...
-
Mental could also stop psycick atacks if psycick players are implemented.
-
If all the auras stacked onto each other, then it would have to be balanced in a VERY organized way. Otherwise monks could become very unbalanced and they would be everywhere, which I\'m going to assume is not wanted, (we want diversity right?).
If that\'s impossible, then I agree with Sifright\'s thought, or if you could choose an aura to specialize in.
-
Here\'s what each term means, if we know the terms we can know what each type of aura might do:
Causal - Of involving, or constituting a cause; Indicative of or expressing a cause.
Celestial - Of or relating to the sky or the heavens:
relating to heaven; divine.
Template - A pattern or gauge, used as a guide in making something accurately.
Astral - Of or relating to a supersensible body believed by theosophists to coexist with and survive the death of the human physical body.
Mental - Of or relating to the mind; intellectual; executed or performed by the mind; existing in the mind.
Emotional - Of or relating to emotion; readily affected with or stirred by emotion.
Etheric - The regions of space beyond the earth\'s atmosphere; the heavens.
Hope this is helpful, keep your ideas coming in.

A revised list of ideas according to your definitions:
Etheric: Increased health regeneration.
Emotional: When out of combat: A calm soothing affect that increases wisdom and intelligence. When in combat: A berserking affect that increases damage and lowers accuracy.
Mental: Increased mana regeneration
Astral: Increased armor class or damage reduction for monk.
Template: Increased accuracy of physical attacks.
Celestial: Adds holy damage to attacks.
Casual: Bonus casting levels for monk and his surrounding allies.

LMAO sarios is funny. So wat ur saying is that monks will give off an aura, right? I disagree with this it should not only be monks. Like a warrior who is known to kill 100s before getting scratched would raise the morale more than an old man giving ppl happy thoughts.
And also maybe monks could be able to have bad auras like sending fear into the enemy, again I think an amazing warrior would do this better but hey, if we are going to have magic y not make it the best thing :(.

how many times did I say it wasn\'t just for monks? :P

And dictionaries are bad because...?
And monks are just an example because they are typcially portrayed in RPG\'s as persons with extreme mental discipline, and are usually able to harness some form of special energy. This is probably why Kuiper chose them as a reasonable class that would exhibit some sort of spiritual field.
Of course, it wouldn\'t have to be in the form of good auras; remember that a monk could be evil too. Anyone have suggestions for what auras an evil monk might use?
And other types of characters will have auras, but they will be different types. A charismatic fighter will most likely give off some sort of aura that boots the willpower of nearby friendlies (or something like that). A skilled mage might have the ability to reduce the damage of elemental attacks not only for themselvers, but for the people in the nearby vicinity as well.

how about the way the ninja\'s do it that isn\'t inside a game yet so it would be kinda original ( it is in movies and comics )
you have 8 gate\'s of chakra
initial
heal
life
harm
limit
view
wonder
death
initial and heal are able for normal people to achieve, if you try to go to limit the body of a normal human would perish and the human will die.
if you are able to open all the gates you are extremely powerfull but it would also have a bad side to your body, your muscles would snap and you wouldn\'t be able to move, on the other hand you are so focussed that you won\'t notice this until you are at the first gate again.
to work this out you can use a system that the higher the gate you get to the stronger you will be but your health will also go down.
sort of the same system as the state of mind only then the taijutsu way
-
and why not have 30 people with auras all helping each other to become powerfull? the thing you have to remember is that although masses of auras will help every 1 to be strong with no 1 who is actuly takeing the best advantage it is useless ie Mana regen isn\'t going to help monks who fight with clubs.... so you would need mages there to have that aura used effectivly... and how about when using auras the auras slowly use up your mana that way you can\'t have them on permantly also you could make it sio that whislt the aura is on you dont regen mana that way the regen mana aura cant be permantly on !! and the ways auras could level up is prehaps like 1 exp point for each mana point used or somthing simular that way the auras get stronger as who ever or what ever is chaneling them gets more adept at it !
-
then a guild can get to strong if it is all with magic, thus a guild will get to powerfull when they are all on a high level or similair system.
with a it\'s for yourself or you can cast it on sombody else system it might work better and you create better chances.

you guys understand that there is no such thing as classes in Planeshift at this point. This may very well change one day... but working with what you\'ve been told so far... there are no classes so wondering which class gets what is a bit off...

sorry I used bad terminology I was more referring to people who fought differently in the 3 different schools of martial arts, stated in the game.
