Its about Single Handed Swords. In most MMORPG\'s Its single sword and shield, well what about Dual Blades? U know, a sword in each hand? Double the power but to balance it out you would have to have ALOT of skill points in sword or whatever, cause weilding 2 swords is ALOT harder than people think, iv tried it with small bamboo sticks and i ended up whacking myself in the leg and head. But anyway enough musing over the past. Just wanted to know if u guys are going towards sword and shield, Dual Blades or Both. And hey, dosent have to be for Swords eh, Dual Hand Axes (Like the Old Norse type) Dual Daggers Heck mabey a Double Edge Blade. All\'s im saying is that, it would be nice if people had that choice.

i would also like to be able to decide whether left/right handed, but that\'s a minor thing.
don\'t forget two handed weapons, and can you cast spells while holding a dagger? how about a claymore?

I do imagine that will be possible, we can do it already anyway. Although to dual weild weapons you will probably need a very high dexterity combined with proficiency in the weapon type to really be able to use them.

My point Exactly

OK I get it thanks for making that clear! But right now ppl are running around with 2 swords! Just an input: we will be able to block with out actually having a shield anyway! (we dont need shields too much) But you are right, you\'ll need great dexterity!
-
Are you all drunk? Theres already a skill for this! Ambidexterity! hello.....
-
Yes, you can block while dual wielding, otherwise any sword duels would be _very_ short. It\'s called parrying.
If this turns out anything like d&d, or Neverwinter, it will have all the different weapon and defensive combinations. Sword and shield, dual-wielding, and of course the lovely double-bladed swords, dire maces, and double-bladed axes yes? =)

;Whemy is right, there is amberdexterity as an advantage for using two swords, and it is a real word no doubt.
If you want to try it realistically, holding a pair of longswords isn\'t realistic, and my character will be slow with them at first (when I get them) But my attack strength would be greater.
If you all want to know the real-life implications, I have used double Broadswords in combat, shortswords, as well as Short Japanese swords, Shoto I believe. The broadswords were killer, only few Viking-sized guys can do it quickly or even efficiently, but the shortswords, and light, japanese blades were fairly easy to weild. I do think though that I would have a huge back problem if I held a claymore and a longsword in either hands for very long, like some Guild leaders whom I will not name :D ;) :D ;)

Most RPG\'s allow for all of these weapon combinations, so I\'d be rather surprised if they weren\'t in Planeshift.
And you can probably have a chance to block using a two-handed sword as well, just not as much as if you were using sword + shield or two smaller swords. :)

Personaly, I have used dual Fencing Swords. Keeping one Behind my back and using it to Catch my opponent off guard. And i thought Long swords were Double Handed? I realy cant see anyone Holing And Weilding 2 of them.

actually, a long sword is a one handed weapon. It\'s abou 3 to 4 feet long, designed for slashing rather than stabbing(shortsword) and while the traditionall approach is a longsword and shield, it IS possible to dual wield them. As for holding a claymore in one hand, good luck, you\'ll have trouble picking it up, let alone swinging it. Claymores were heavy enough that the woad raiders commonly carried a claymore and light cloth armour, that was it. of course, it IS nice to be able to cut someone in half whn they are wearing full plate.....
