Title: What do you use to edit the game?
Post by: someonewhokills on October 28, 2003, 12:49:45 am
What do you use to edit the game? I use 3ds max 6 and i cant find any exporters for .xml, or animation stuff. I was wondering what you use to model the world and how you get it to load the world constantly so you never have to load a \"level\"

All of those are features of CrystalSpace.  Download and read the CrystalSpace documentation for more info.

They model and texture buildings/creatures using Maya and Max, and they use some special made converters to make the things CS compatible. Then they insert the CS compatible Max and Maya things into a CS world.

CS = Crystal Space (The PS Engine) :)

The hydlaa place is like 10 levels and they all loads up from the beginning. The inside of every house is a level itself.

when the PS world will be expanded, will the loading take even longer or will there be other loading areas?

We hope to implement a seamless ( or something near that ) for loading at some point.  This is a *very* complicated thing to do so it will probably be a version or two away before it becomes in standard use.    I hate load times as much as everybody.

so before you have perfected the loading system, we will have pretty long loading times between the levels..

I don\'t know but I really doubt that the things we have for CB will fit into my RAM.

If you want to know the levels information to somewhat create your own kind of place/game, I would advise you don\'t do it for a while. Not only is it difficult in the fact that it requires knowing loads of programming, HTML, XML, and other stuff, but you have to rent the space on the world wide network in order for people to get to it.
