About us:
?There is one certainty, and that is death?
The greatest battle a warrior must face is the battle against fear. All who take the life of the mercenary have emerged victorious from this conflict. When death is no longer feared, an obstacle becomes a tool. This tool shall not be used in the name of politics, honour, justice or love. The services of the Guild may only be called upon in exchange for currency. A life is worthless, until a bounty is placed upon it. Beyond that, your motivations are not our concern.
?Death is the only law, and we are its masters?
Our world is one of chaos, not order, and strength inevitably triumphs ? the Guild is a bastion of strength and, inevitably, it shall triumph. If you are weak, our strength may be purchased. The guild offers a range of services, a range of prices, and a range of operatives. The harder the job, the higher the price; the more experienced the operative you choose to employ, the more you must pay. Espionage, guild wars, body guarding, armed escort, garrisoning ? all are within our abilities, as long as they are within your budget. If you have the gold, we have the steel.
?We are a brotherhood of blood?
Be aware, that while the Guild is above the petty squabbles of politics, and its primary motivation is the pursuit of wealth, its members are loyally bound to each other through their knowledge of pain. Treachery shall not be tolerated, whether between members or from outsiders. The pride of the Guild shall at all times be maintained, and shall be mortally defended by its champions if it is challenged. Therefore, do not doubt that to cross us is to welcome death, no matter how much you can pay.
Reasons to join:
? We are the original and first mercenaries guild, first set-up on the 7th of April 2003.
? Resident guild artists (http://www.darkzephyr.plus.com/draftmain.jpg) will draw your very own character portrait.
? We are currently role-playing the 8-year history of the guild in our forums, you can get involved.
? The guild is well thought through and well established.
? We intend to make our name known throughout the world of Planeshift.
? We are active.
? Our hierarchy system is highly elitist; will you prove yourself worthy to become one of the 5 champions?
What we are looking for in our members:
We are open to nearly any types of character as long as they can handle themselves in a fight; this includes competent warriors, magic-users and stealthy rouges. Essentially the Mercenary guild holds combat skills (including magic), followed by stealth as the most important attributes to becoming a good mercenary.
Merchants will not be accepted into the guild. Other proficiencies, such as healing will be considered and most likely welcomed (it\'s a foolish guild that is without the ability to cure in combat).
We have no goal other than wealth, we form no allegiances and our only enemies are our employer\'s enemies. Hence we are Chaotic Neutral. As such the ideal character for this guild has a love of gold, fighting and brotherhood towards his fellow members.
Members will be expected to train as much as possible when there is no mission, on top of this they will be expected to role-play, remain active and finally represent the guild to the best of their abilities. If you do not meet these requirements you will be removed from the guild.

Thank you Wolfmane, I am trying not to clutter or overly post in this thread. Personally I am quite glad I rarely if ever get people spamming mercenary guild threads. I don?t think we have had a single flame yet either... (Now to watch them pour in)

Thank you Dorbian, thank you Savion :D. The guild is indeed well thought out, I say with a smidgen of arrogance :P . But I put a lot of myself into it; its aims, its descriptions, its history. And with guild artists (most especially the great Empanado) to turn these visualisations into reality I believe we do have one of the most described and established guilds. However it seems for a lot of people this does not provide the same pull as a guild such as the cabal, which is more focused on promotion through flames, but I am not here to judge. I just represent a voice of reason amongst screams of hate. Besides I am happy enough playing a roll in the ever expanding Planeshift universe.

Yeah the mercinairies are going to be a big part of the PS world, and whenever a copycat guild comes along we will insult them again and again and again as having no originality ( of course the insulting will be done in a neutral way :P )

Cadoras you are almost too proud; we are not here to flame other mercenary type guilds, but feel free to point out that when the game is ready we will be \"competing\" for employers...
In fact, I would like to define our neutrality slightly more accurately than it has been before: In terms of world politics, the good vs. the bad, the shifting of power between guilds; none of these things concern us, and we will not involve ourselves unless paid to do so.
However (you could sense it coming couldn?t you?), We will protect our own interests. Anyone who interferes with our aims or goals will be dealt with. To clarify; our aim is profit; put simply, someone taking potential customers is biting into potential profit. At the moment there is little point in flaming or spamming those who will suffer as our competitors. At this time the guild presenting the most predominant threat to profit is the defenders, but we shall deal with them when and if the time comes.
As always competitors are offered the opportunity to join The Mercenary Guild, but I sincerely doubt they will choose this option.
And now I am going to bed, the hail of flames I may get can wait till morning.

This guild looks like it will definently be going places. Just curious about one thong though, what mercenary...istic... things will you be involved in? Since a PK system has not been decided on. But you do have a very well thought out guild here and I wish you luck.

Well as you said the pk system is still being decided, but i think its fair to say assassination will not be one of the services available unless they massively change the pk rules.
However, for the right amount of tria i believe we will be able to offer a wide range services;
Assistance in guild wars: Stalemate? We can tip the scales, the real question is; can you afford NOT to hire us?
Guild attack: want to get rid of a certain guild that is stealing your profits? But don?t want to get blood on your own hands? We can be hired anonymously to take them out.
Garrisoning: your castle under threat? We can protect you.
Escorting: can?t complete a quest on your own? We can slay that dragon for you.
Hire a Champion: Some one challenged you to a duel in the arena? Not sure you can win? Why not hire one of our 5 champions to represent you, by fighting instead of you.
Real world character portraits: want a character portrait? Hire our guild artist Empanado to bring to life the character you have always imagined.
The above services are almost certain; the ones below however depend on what rules are implemented:
Spying: need to know what goes on behind closed doors? We can find out.
Thieving: someone got an item with your name on it? We can retrieve it.
Demolition: someone?s castle/shop/house in your way? We can smash it? smashy smashy?
Merchandise escorting: have to move your wares through a particularly bandit infested stretch of land? Or though a stretch of pk enabled land? We can defend your goods, and make sure they arrive on time.
Assassination: someone in particular obstructing your livelihood? We can ?remove? your problem.
I think I have most of our possible services there. However if you are a more unique customer and have a different need that you believe we may be able to satisfy, do not be afraid to ask.

Quite a few new members, some modifications to the site, and a lot of new pictures. And outside of the guild; a lot of spamming courtesy of A LOT of new planeshifters, and A LOT of new guilds. The dark alliance is back too, except hellsing has been replaced by the Blackflame clan. That?s about it really...
Oh, also I fractured and dislocated my kneecap about 2 weeks ago now :(

Anyway its been a busy almost completely non-Planeshift weekend for me; setting up my new pc, a Radiohead gig last night, and a HUGE LAN party of age of mythology and Halo today.
But anyway now that the weekend is over (in the UK) I am back, so there will be more updates on the site...

Anyway there has been a few changes to the guild site, I uploaded the original guild concept which I wrote all the way back in April before i founded the guild. And Keungs Picture was uploaded. Icefalcon is some guy that read our guild site and asked to be made into an apprentice, so i said ok. That\'s about all i know about him, I sent him some questions with the welcome email, so I will know more about him when he replies. If he answers the questions well and seems to fit the guild ethic, and stays around long enough, then I will let him become an initiate; a true member of the guild.

goddamn it X( , i am sorry the guild has been going a tad slow for the past week guys. I just got my leg out of cast/plaster/pot whatever you want to call it, on monday so i am just getting used to it and doing my physio exercises (my muscles are all withered :( ). Anyway buisiness should resume as normal shortly :D

I hope all the mercenaries who I haven?t spoken to recently had a merry x-mas... I have been on both sets of boards quite a few times in the past couple of days (these ones and our own) I have just had nothing worth saying in any threads. So yes I am still alive, the mercenary guild is still going strong :). And this whole post is probably classed as spam... I just got bored.

Oh, and Empanado, can you make the pic look something like this: A buff wide shuldered Kran wearing battle-scared heavy armour on torsole, hands, and legs, wielding two blood stained axes. And around him will lay a few brutaly killed soldiers.
If its not to hard could you please make something like that... cuz i know a perfect way to use it in my sig (once i get photoshop instaled)

acctually work is comming on rather fast with all the updates i wanted to impliment, so they should be done soon.
anyway after these exams now and in may i will be at university studying maths which hopefully will be easier to operate a guild simultaneously with. *hopefully*

Jaxan has setup a temporary website at freewebs (they dont allow as many files as the site had so the website is minimal), but since the site will be moving around a lot i wouldnt bother changing your links till it has a more permenant residence;

been extremely inactive lately due to exams and tests and whatever is involved with school. also working on yearbook for graduates etc, making my homework so much i now have a coffee addiction:P
