Title: First Look
Post by: Winterheaven on November 04, 2003, 12:09:37 am
Hello role players,

what nice two days and nights i have in some minutes visiting planeshift. I was very, very impressed how far the work on the game is already. But you know: Give them the little finger... they take the whole hand ;)

Ok, just my 2 cents:

+ graphic is amazing, but there are many visible glitches between adjacent textures. that takes some of the intended rp athmosphere.

+ movement is a bit jaggy. (escpecially moving 180? rotation, stairs and bevels) don\'t know, if it is crystal sphere or some network delay.

+ movement is really slow. i know, this is not easy to adjust for a rp game. and morrowind does also use this slow system. but during my game play i saw most of the pcs only running... so perhaps its worth some short thoughts?

+ chat window is difficult to handle (after the tip with the tab it works fine) - resizing and autoscrolling needs perhaps some improvement? (or i am too stupid to use it). and tool the chat window on the window border would be also an advanced feature.

+ at least it was definitively not my last visit... and that says it all.

Greets to all travellers,

Winterheaven.

ps: for debugging, testing, optimisation and additional information for the developers it would be nice, to have (at least during development) some keys, which toggle the display of the frame rate, the count of triangles together with the player position, etc. So everybody who will help can sent in their measure together with its system specs... and you can see, where you can set your focus.

ps2: when something was already discussed somewhere... it was not my intention to bother someone.

I\'ve never had any problems with this before.. except for when you talk with NPC\'s and other people talk, so the autoscroll will scroll away from the part you\'re trying to read..

Crystal Blue will be released at the end of the year, so be sure to come back then.

you can turn framerate display on by editing some file, i don\'t know wich one, but it\'s somewhere on the forums so just search for it.

another long post by me ^^
