Title: quick question concerning engine
Post by: ps0705 on November 08, 2003, 10:21:10 pm
I noticed on Sourceforge that Crystal Space just got a new landscape implemented. Is this technology already incorporated in Planeshift? I wonder because I read in one of those interviews that you work very closely with the Crystal Space team. Anyway, judging by the screenshots from their site, an mmorpg would look great with that kind of technology for treking through dark forests or other natural environments.

PS Great game, can\'t wait for next release.

CS recently got a new landscape engine (but for the new renderer only!) which looks really nice. Check out the screenshot at: this link. The landscape engine supports realtime merging of different textures (see how the road and grass textures are combined), realtime lighting and bumpmapping and a lot more.

the screenshot looks pretty cool :)

this is very new, if you look at the date, it says:

i hope this will be used in crystal blue, it would be really useful for mountain areas and forests i think.
[edit]i just spoke to one of the devs and he says they\'re gonna use it ^^[/edit]

8o Wow that\'s looks as good as the Torque Engine\'s terrain, and the lighting.... nice smooth light mapping.  And they\'re putting it in CB you say?  Woooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
