Title: Linux pre-compilde binaries work????
Post by: ewarning on November 09, 2003, 12:07:06 am
Hi.

I\'ve read all posts about Linux installation of Planeshift/CrystalSpace.

But all of them assume that I\'m compiling it from source.

I\'ve donwloaded the pre-compiled package (in the site download page), but it doesn\'t work.

CS was unpacked in /usr/local/lib/CS and the CRYSTAL variable was set to it. ./waltest works fine, but when I try to run psclient, the error appears:
--
Warning: Failed to load `gl3d\'; use \'-verbose\' argument for details.
Warning: Failed to load `gl3d\'; use \'-verbose\' argument for details.
WARNING: could not load plugin \'crystalspace.graphics3d.opengl\'
Warning: Failed to load `csjngimg\'; use \'-verbose\' argument for details.
Warning: Failed to load `csjngimg\'; use \'-verbose\' argument for details.
aws-debug: Couldn\'t find iGraphics2D plugin!!
psclient: No 3d driver (iGraphics3D) plugin!
--

I think the compiled packs could include a README.TXT or INSTALL or something.

Someone can help me?

Have you used a pre-compiled version of CS? I\'m using the cvs of CS (0.97 i think), and that\'s working fine. But if you have compiled it yourself, you should make sure you have everything you need, because it seems like CS is compiled without some thing PS needs. If you check the output of configure you should see what you need.

This works to me:

I make a copy of libGL.so, that comes with my NVIDIA driver (official driver) and the change the name to: libonpengl32.so.

Now i can star the game in opengl mode.

It seems that you are set on using the binaries, but I strongly recommend building from source since its a learning experience more than anything else, and I have a feeling that there will be the possibility of compiling from source for CB before there are binaries. So, compiling yourself could give you a \"competitive edge\" in being one of the first to get CB ;)
