In a few online games I\'ve played, I have noticed that most of the time, you go into town to do business and everyone is free from monsters.
Why not a few times a year have a massive surprise attacks on the cities?
You can vary the city and monster, but it should occur on a regular enough basis to make everyone want to stay on their toes.
In addition, incorporate the surprise attacks within the game lore.

It would be so interesting...murphy...it would happen just when like 15 players are up.... Good idea though.

well in the future \'events\' have been hinted at, and this could be one. And in a few past threads the same things been suggested about monsters attacking cities.
-
It would have to be a major city if it were to work, where there are always lots of people online in it.

Or the attacks could only happen when there are about 50% or more of the peak amount of players online. Good idea.

how about a week-long sedige once or twice a year? that would prove rather interesting, and player could split up according to there skill and do certain missions.

Well I can just imagine being in a city selling some loot and then a whole hoard of undead appear and attack.
I think it would be a ton of fun! Think of the screenshots that would appear on the fan/guild sites!

Interesting. Should players be allowed to \'suddenly\' take command and issue orders to units of players and NPCs? Or should that job be reserved for NPCs, in case someone is obssessed with the idea of sending players on suidicde missions?
Sieges could occur when a certain number x players are in or near the city. Perhaps not percentage, if there aren\'t that many players during the peak.
Siege weapons would be interesting to use. Should there be siege weapons on both sides? Will the enemy siege weapons produce lasting effects? Am I stating questions that have already been answered?
So, are you going to answer my questions, or decide that i am too annoying to answer? And what do you think of my ideas, if you see any?

Nothing should be \"reserved for NPCs\". Nothing.

Davis: Yes, PC\'s are main characters, NPCs are just here to fill the world.
Wormtail: don\'t know if this has already been answered, but it\'s a good idea all the same

I think raids of monsters attacking caravans of merchants (NPCs + players) will be implemented.
So why not raids attacking cities ?
I would say we will have something like that, but of course, in the future....

Raids on caravans would be interesting, and would open up jobs for guards. I am, as youi have probably noticed, stating the obvious. But shhould the guards just beat the raiders off individually, or will they act in coordination? I doubt it will matter either way for a simple raid, but I myself prefer strategy and tactics. But what will the raiders do with the loot, if they are NPCs? Just make it vanish? Will players be allowed to raid caravans? In guild wars, the answer is yes. Otherwise, probably not, and needs discussion in the PvP forum.
As for raids on cities, should they be simple raids, or full-scale sieges? Should a player suddenly take command of the city forces and defeat theh invaders, or will masses of players swarm out of the cities as an undisciplined mob, only to be mowed down by arrows and slashed down by some passing cavalry? Also, should thhere be traitors in the city, who will open the gates to the invaders and cause grief to the inhabitants? I think thehre should be, for realisticism. As for players taking command of cities... Perhaps if the \'guild dominance\' is strong enough, the guild becomes responsible for the defense and welfare of the city. I could go on and on about my idea of guild dominance in cities, but this post is too long already.
