Hmmm, I\'m torn on this one - damn, never was any good at making a decision ;)
On the one hand I would love to have an avatar, but on the other hand I do like the fact that a developer is instantly distinguishable by it, almost having the highest accolade.
If it was to be available to fans it should be earned and not just be a spam token.
I may regret this but I\'m gonna vote for developers only but maybe have it as a reward to fans who have truely earned it.

i picked other because i think that it should be EARNED and then other people could use them, if you picked tripel-as then its even more of a reason for CERTAIN people to spam.......i think i just said the same thing kada did......hmmm

i think fans should defentily have avatars, in case they are no bigger than 80X80..
i mean... why not?
if u will say \"only people over bla bla posts can have avats\", then every1 will start spamming.
if u say \"only people who deserve it\" then it would cause an un-ending circle of begging for avatar prize.. which could be more annoying than anything..

I think every1 would have an avatar!! no spamming and no begging and evry1 is happy. and the mods are distuinguished by the bleu stars. and is there a downside to it. I mean it only has advantages no disadvantages!

Only the mods developers I believe should have avatars.
Other people should be happy with signatures.

My thoughts are people who earn respect on here, not some(excuse the language, but its neccessary) ass hole who just came here to spam. I know I can sometimes be and idiot or a jerk, but seriously some people would just spam to get to triple as.

the dev.s are already set apart from the rest of us...they have those purrdy blue stars..and wtb member or member rank.

i agree with meket, Dev members are already seperated.. they avatars is like a prize to the players..
i mean, how in the world a small little avatar could hurt any1?

until there is no actual game, there should be as many features to keep the players interasted... imagine how loyal to the game we will be, if we sit around 24/7 in these forums ... =/
it doesnt hurt anybody, would make some posters happy, so give it to us... i mean... why not?

2. avatars are just \'something\' to do. if people start getting into it, they will devide more of their day\'s schedule for this forum, passing time..
more posts of \"what do u think of my avatar\" will pop up, making people feel more apart of this forum, and this just might keep them, without their knowledge, in here. this is MY OPINION.
my MAIN ARGUMENT was that avatars cant hurt, they can only make this place alittle more colorful and interasting..

Why cant you just be happy with the avatars you can use in Kada-El\'s.
I for one dont think the stars are enough. Also there is noway a picture is gonna make any difference with players.There are already signatures plenty to play with there.
Nu Sham says above that more posts popping up with -What do you think of my avatar will show up...great just we need more spam.
My argument is this the new people coming here are not going to know what the little blue stars are for while a few others will.It will be much easier for them to notice that some people have avatars while others dont when asking questions.

i didnt exactly get your arguement (about new commers wont understand what the little stars mean),
but i think the whole avatar subject would be pretty interasting subject, and wont be declared as \"Spam\" , if and when there is an off - subject forum .
even now, you can see plenty of threads regarding signatures or stuff like that..
you can call it spam, or it might just be that this subject interasts some people..
in any case, this is a not-really-important subject, like the black line above the sig, and even though i would like to see avatars included, i think that right now the ops have more important things to take care of =)

I do call it spam when it isnt kept in a certain setting off topic or a single thread. I make sigs I love it .But i dont spam everytime I make one.
The things with the stars Nu sham is simple to understand if someone tells you about it. But what about new arrivals they can see the stars but do they know what they mean.
People with a high amount of posts look important to new people its one of the reasons spammers spam.

well i agree new arrivals wont know exactly what the starts mean, and large amount of messages per person will make them look important, but what does have to do with avatars?
and about the avatar spam - u said it yourself, if its not in the right place, its spam.. well i agree, there should be an off-topic forum where people can talk about what ever, and avatars too, and when this off-topic forum is avilable, then all players who want to should have avatars..
on second thoght, maybe they shouldnt have avatars, i would like to see avatars included but its not really necasery and important..

My point about the avatars is only that.
1.New arrivals wont be able to tell the difference right away.
2.Last time I checked this isnt a gaming board yet.Meaning its for the development of planeshift.
3.The avatars are nice ,but i feel that the ones making the game so great for us others should be seen.
4.If we keep adding more and more color and brightness in the future as we get more and more people coming in and looking around.Talking spamming whatever.
It will be harder for anyone to see those that are in charge of certain area\'s.
Also the people are doing it for free at this time dont you feel they deserve a little reward?
5.There are no levels no ranking system at this time except for spammers now .Why should we allow it to get more out of hand?
I agree with an off-topic forum. And dont know when all this spamming started why they didnt make one.I remeber when people came in and had to change thier names because they were not in a roleplay setting.
Look at all the funny names out there now.If this continues and is allowed in the game .You wont be able to pay me to play.....

anyways ill just respond to what i understood..
Avatars are not like spam, because no matter how much u spam, your avatar doesnt change.. its just a picture, like a signature.. if we put some limit on it, like max size 80X80 , then it wont cause problems..
look at Kada\'s forum.. there people can have their own avatar, and no one is spamming, there is no chaos there.. people can easly spot Kada or BinaryRejected, for their big starts next to their sig...
maybe we can have the messages of the Dev Team have a small yellow star next to their name , (not on the left side), if spotting the Dev team is so important to you..
personally, i dont think the avatar is what the Dev team people wish for and feel they will quit the team or whatever if they dont have this small little usless avatar. . .

hmm dont u think the reason for this forum is to attract people? and i dont quite understand how adding avatars will cause people to spam more..

I just got back on . Sorry if you dont understand it but im not gonna go over it again and again.
Its simple the new arrivals will have a hard enough time going through the threads as they are.
1.Spotting the dev team is not to be mean more important to me .Than talking to people here.If i wanna talk or roleplay.I can go to a roleplaying message board with thousands of people or a chat site...or even a game.
2.The main reason for this message board is to help the game.Not for people to chat.Thats one of the reasons im sure there is no off-topic board.
3.The forum is here to get people interested in helping the team.And that is what the Pr team is for.
4.Nobody ever said an avatar is spam.You really should read a bit closer and think on what you read perhaps.I\'ll explain it once since i havent yet .
If for one people were granted avatars.Based on either earning or amount of posts.People are just going to start pestering devs.You know the people whos time can be better spent making the game.
5.Avatars are really no big deal like you say.Why do you keep pushing for it.Twisting my words around to try and make some point.Like you say there a picture its not so big.
But hey think of this everyone that comes here.Has stars and whatever under thier name.With some sort of title.true or false...for some newbie to come in it would be hard for them to tell the difference between this person and that.
The avatars I think are a very good way of showing who is who on status.Instead of just blue stars they get a little picture.Unlike everyone else whos status changes for the amount of posts thiers doesnt.
It also is a sure way of grabbing anyones attention.If you for one feel like you need an avatar. Why dont you try out for the team?
I think people need to start understanding.This board has some fun to it here and there but the main goal is to develop the game itself.later when it gets farther in the stages of development.Is when the board changes to suit the needs of the players more.
When was the last time you saw someone like talad post? Alot of the game Dev\'s dont anymore and its really sad.

That really makes sense Ninja turtle (not) nobody is saying they dont want avatars.Only that they should be for the devs only or for people that earn them. Cyonamie are you saying we should get rid of signatures as well because thats what it sounds like or should the devs get to make signatures and the rest of us get avatars.
You know perfectly well what the difference makes.
All Ive seen from people supporting avatars is me me me.
Funny I kinda thought more people would like to support the devs and all the hard work they do.

this messageboard has made me wanna help the team.
and the fact that people conversate on this message board is what made me wanna get on the team. the chatroom is really good for talking with devs and stuff.
I wasn\'t excpted but i still would help out with anything if it would mean a better PlaneShift.
