Based on my time in AO, I came to appreciate various aspects of the game that would really be great to see implemented in their own way in PS. These items are as follows:
**********
Dynamic Quests: One could go to an NPC and ask for a quest or \"job\" based on various parameters (i.e. money, xp, reward, type of mission such as \"retrieve item\" or \"slay beast\"). The individual would then receive a quest somewhere within the world that would be marked on their map. Basically, a random dungeon would be generated based off of their parameters. Such quests could be created for solo, or team play.
This is one of the things I really enjoyed about AO, you could snag a quick \"mission\". This could be solo or team if you wanted, and it prevented you from having to go skulk around in some static dungeon alone and risk certain death.
Of course, static dungeons are also have their place (along with outdoor hunting areas), but it would be great to see dynamic quests be part of the mix. Often static quests/dungeons results in having to camp for long periods of time and be in competition with uber guilds that you (and your team) simply have no chance against. This is also beneficial when you do not have a great deal of time to spend in the game.
**********
Ability to solo: Though there should be a clear advantage to teaming, it would be great to be able to solo as well.
Though the ability to solo existed in AO, it became almost unfeasable with the addition of Shadowlands.
**********
Lots of social areas / items / events: Items such as social clothing and indoor/outdoor social areas really provide a way and place for people to socialize and roleplay.
I would have to say this was one of my favorite things about AO. Besides having an apartment, there were several \"bars\" people frequented. There is even a shoutcast radio station run by AO players where DJ\'s would have parties in-game with music and requests. Of course I\'m not sure how any players would organize something like this in a fantasy settting, but it was very enjoyable, and added a great deal to the community.
**********
I hope these items are of interest and spark some imagination. I appologize if I mention AO so much, but it is my frame of reference, as I spent a couple of years playing it. In the end however, I simply couldn\'t justify paying for a game that had deteriorated so much for me. PS really holds a lot of potential since it is being created by a community and not a company and I am eagerly looking foward to the CB release!

Myself being an Anarchy player, I like the things you mentioned very much too.. And I would also love to have things such as dynamic quests implemented, it just adds so much more fun to a game, and furthers the sense of adventure instead of going to the same boring static dungeon over and over again.. and even more over and over if you start a new character.. Of course static dungeons are nice, but they can get boring fast since you most often only go to them to get a particular drop.

Dynamic Quests: Yes, nice idea. hard to code so don\'t hope it in next releases but i think i heard devs speaking about it (for later)
**********
Ability to solo: I think it must depend upon the character class. Rogues can be solo. For Warriors it\'s harder but still possible. For mages, no.
**********
Lots of social areas / items / events: TSocial areas (the bar) currently the only thing implemented. I think it will be keeped.
Wow, you impressed me, after your nice intro, a nice wish list :)

I think everyone should be able to solo, but not against every monster class.
For example, mages can go after slow melee monsters(even with heavy blow), while a fighter would have problems with them. Otherwise ranged monsters would be the nemesis of mages, while they are easier for fighters.

Dynamic quests aren\'t THAT hard to code.
It\'s just like a scripted one, but you get to pick a mission from a list. The choice of missions are randomly put into a list and the rewards are made a bit random too.
From here, this leads you to a dynamically created dungeon from some teleporting place.
If you can make a dynamic dungeon, then dynamic quests aren\'t hard. It\'s really the dynamic dungeon that sounds hard to me.
Here are some choices:
- Assassinate mission: kill some guy, get reward. There can be variations where you must face some monsters first. You do this mission SOLO or in a group.
- Kill everyone mission: self-explanatory. You can get variations with computer npcs assisting you or not.
- Escort merchant: a merchant is created. You get to him/her, and escort him/her to a designated location. Merchant nps can be attacked by monsters, so you must defend.
-
Rageburst: i didn\'t said dynamic quests are THAT hard. They are hard (especially if you want to offer a nice panel of choices and a really randomness (not just \'kill this guy\', the guy just changing name and place), dynamic dungeons are even harder.
And i think that\'s not priority number one currently

At least for pure mages (not warrior-mages or rogue-mages)

I think that casters shouldn\'t need player tanks to be able to solo.
Suppose you are a healer type, you should be able to hire a pet or something and heal that pet. For more protection, a spell to redirect monster attacks to that pet might be appreciated as well.
edit: you also forget that soloing is not really that needed in planeshift since leveling is not associated to killing monsters. It\'s related to how often you use your skills, and what you decide to specialize in.

A pet enough powerful to fight for you? Woow.... I didn\'t know mages will be so powerful. No, you can\'t hope a pet will avoid you to fight.
Oh, and of course if you don\'t want to fight, you don\'t need to team

Dynamic quests are easy, especially with the high level NPC system they are making. Dynamic dungeons, would have to be instanced, and from both a code and server standpoint are very technically complex. But they do want to put them in eventually, though I like the usage of more involved epic single-player RPG style quests they allow... but both would be good and neither will be in the next release.
I know the devs said the type of character that would be able to play solo... I forget exactly what though.
