Post by: Elegrand on November 20, 2003, 02:02:30 pm
I thought long and hard one day about my PS character and finally decided I want to be a battle mage! But what would be the best race?

You know, a lot of things will change in next release.

Here\'s the races i would suggest to you:
Diaboli, Human(Xacha) or Noltrir (if you want to specialize in blue way)

And, if you want to be a mage, consider joining us: http://www.arcaneorder.tk

I think Diaboli would be best as a battle mage. But you might also check Lemurs and Xacha.
And no, don\'t pick Noltrir for a battle mage ;)

you can see all races and stats on the website: http://www.planeshift.it/setting_races.html

the best choice for a battle mage would be a race with high strength and intelligence, so i would suggest one of the human races or dermorian.

Draklar: if you want to be only in blue way, Nolthrir are great. Even if you are not a pure mage.

Axsyrus: Magic depends not only upon intelligence:
white and dark: depend on Charisma
azure and red: depend on Will
brown and blue: depend on Intelligence

Elscouta: battle magic goes rather under Red Way...
Some of Red Way spells inflict damage, others can be used to boost your companions fighting skills.
therefore Noltrir wouldn\'t be the best idea :P

I was not only looking at intelligence.
He wants to be a battle mage. so he needs strength.Diaboli have str+0 and only have high charisma wich only works if you want to be a dark or crystal mage.
and nolthrir have no intelligence, strength, will nor charisma wich makes them pretty much useless if you don\'t want to be a blue mage.
so if you want to make a good choice you must be sure what kind of mage you want to be first.

Draklar: generally, a battle mage use his weapons to do damage. He prefer using magic to cure itself or other tricks.

Axsyrus: Diaboli gains bonus in the three \'magic stats\' : Int (+1), Will (+2), Char (+3). So they are pretty good mages. And unlike Lemur and others they make decent warriors.

he needs strenght only if by Battle Mage he means Warrior with battle magic (if so doesn\'t need inteligence but will)
if by Battle Mage he means mage with battle magic then will is most important
Diaboli has +2 to will, so...
edit: err... Elscouta, isn\'t that paladin?

Draklar: Hmm... maybe indeed... Ok, so no nolthrir. ;)

Nothing can be decided unless looking at the CB CVS race descriptions, as some/all of them have been changed (I haven\'t looked myself, so I don\'t know which exactly). But looking at the new descriptions might be a good idea before deciding which races are good for what. :)

Seperot - You must know that it is alot easier to simply press \"New Thread\" instead of clicking around many times, to find one of these \'old\' threads. Or, at least that is how the newer generation happens to think...

Well, the new generation needs instant satisfaction, as I see it.(by any means->...)

We could sticky the \"woill\" thread, it may help sligthly.
