What I would like in the final game? Voices. Voices that are different for each individual character. It is pointless to ask for this. I know. This is a Wishlist, I hope it isn\'t a crime to \"wish\" for something.

Hate to inform you, but the Wish Police should be arriving at your house... right about when you fall asleep.

This would mean tuning a 200 MB dl into say a 900 one =)
I suppose you could have one or two lines per npc then use mp3 compression though, sound quality wunt be too good like that...
Do u mean voices like say ooh tribes with presets? that would be cool, my first act would be to make a soundpack XD =D
Or do you mean voices like through microphones?

Actually, maybe even both. With the growing technology and stuff, It might be possible when the Final version of planeshift is released.

well there won\'t be final version of PlaneShift
It\'s ever-growing project :)

They\'re both possible at the moment, but they\'re both incredibly stupid ideas. I don\'t see what possible value there would be in built-in voice chat, and it would be a waste of space to implement voices, as the people who really need them, PCs wouldn\'t have them unless you implemented a text reader (wouldn\'t help RP) or a \"simlish\" system (as in that wretched game, \"The Sims\"; definatly wouldn\'t help RP), or possibly the Tribes voice chat system, as Kwartz said, but that also has little value.

Actually I disagree with you Grakrim. Voice chat has quite a bit of value actually. And I think that having voice changers to match would be kinda fun. Not a necessary option but just an option nonetheless.

voice chat isn\'t that good for mmorpg :P
Like you know some players will be having chars with different gender than in rl, right? Obviously using voice chat would ruin that. So it comes down to \'if you want to play different gender, you\'ll be left behind\' :P

And what if you dont have a microphone or (like my damned windows 98, that doesnt know my sound board..) no sound at all... a person gets near you and just look at her cause you cant hear a thing..

I think he meant voicechat as in presets, for instance tribes is:
female voice: 1 - 10
Male voice 1 - 10
then commands such as:
v - voice =
Global:
Guild:
Quick:
Need:
Action:
Need:
Party:
Angry:
Sad:
then for instance u cud choose R - angry: n have a list like:
damn!
Shazbot!
In the name of Talad!
Die!
Ill get you! etc....
then ud press the last corresponding letter and itd say it. so its V-R-D = you shouting \"Die!\"

naa im thinkin not a good idea...stick with the regular chat, we dont want mixed voice and typed messages. It just wouldnt be realistic, and since it will most probably be impossible to have pure voice, we should stick with typing.
