From what I have read so far, this game is going to be very community oriented. Also it seems like there is a remarkably high balance of males to females amongst the forum fateful.
How do we make sure that the \"army of young men\" who want only to just hack and slash do not overrun this game and it is given a chance to evolve into someplace that people will want to go to visit regularly?
If an army of young women want to come to only hack and slash then I guess I am wrong. :)
I guess what I am saying is that I am really not sure what the female MMORPG player wants to see in PS. But I think it is important for the devs to know.

We\'re not a different species. What people want is entirely up to their individual personalities, not their gender.
If you think all the males here want to hack \'n\' slash and all the females want to do nice happy things that don\'t involve killing mobs, then I\'m afraid you\'re hugely mistaken. ;)

Thank you - beleive it or not that\'s what I was looking for - some sense of what could be done and what is not worth it.
I am sorry, I was not suggesting that you could pigion hole anyone or any gendor into such generalizations.
But I was trying to find something that might encourage more women to play planeshift, my sense is that it will make a better game.

I also hope projects such as these will help attract more females to the world of gaming.
For one thing, it\'ll help get rid of that little \'gamer\' stereotype: the little 12 year old boy geek with no social life and poor hygene. That\'s simply not true anymore.
I think it\'d also help us girls actually play online games in peace, without the constant comments and rude questions from guys following you around in fascination. \"You\'re a girl? REALLY!? I love you... will you go out with me??\" :P

Well if this thread falls into that category please just delete it.
Otherwise I\'m not sure what you can do about those comments other then making sure PS has a mechanism to block and report harassment.
\"I\'m really a 43 year old male accountant\" might work. :)
It\'s the oddest thing there is more of a chance that you will the lottery then actually meeting someone with whom you play online games. But for some reason so many men take the opportunity to chat up every player they come across who might actually be a women in hope that they might meet them in real file. (At a planeshift convention in the future possibly)

I actually found my first proper love through a game. We were together for 2 years and met up at least 6 times, although the distance between us made that quite hard.
Dammit... now I want money! :D

There are actually more female players then you seem to think, just not on the forums. Of course, its still a low percentage, but whatever.

I remember when i played eq my gf( lived down the street not across the country) would constaly get tangled up in conversations about the whol your a girl! I finally made them realize they werent going to get any and should continue playing.

It\'s different brain chemistry. How all the connections are made has a lot to do with how you act - Very similar to Linux and Windows actually.
One is very hard to understand, doesn\'t make any sense, and is confusing to the other.
The other one crashes lots, messes things up, and picks the worst possible time to make mistakes.

Interesting thing though - from talking lots with my mom I\'ve learned that females tend to take events in long lines, connecting them all to each other, while males tend to separate events because each event is an event, and therefore a separate thing.

isnt that the point of playing MMORPG... to hack an slash stuff?
There are more female players out there than you think, on the mmorpg\'s ive played there has always been a large % of female players, although apart from myself i know no female gamers in RL.

On Topic, to Samoth: This wouldn\'t belong in the wishlist. Wishlist is for feature requests and the like. I don\'t think the devs could force more females to play this game. :P
It\'s been a few days now and I still don\'t understand Yarulion\'s point... hehe. :D But really, guys make themselves look so desperate... maybe they are desperate, but that\'s not the point... ;)

If Seperot said it, it can\'t make sense. Search his posts. When was the last time he said something useful? You shouldn\'t expect him to say anything worthwhile in that thread either.
Also, Seperot was not the only person posting that, Davis, that\'s why its stupid. It seems like all the isolated guys here just had to post how hot they thought the princess was. Check the thread.

There\'s nothing wrong with being complimentary or flirting a tiny bit. It makes women feel good to be noticed. The fine line is when those things turn into stalking and desperation. :-)

Mogura is right, I hate it when I guy wants to be with some girl online. First off you never know who is on the other side. Secondly is kind of perverted when you think about it. Society has become so degrading, with the need for soliciting sexual acts has become to great in our world.
Even a little thing by saying,\"\"You\'re a girl? REALLY!? I love you... will you go out with me?\" Is in a light way is perverse.
Flirting a bit is okay, like what Venge said... but I mean guys will be guys, what can I say. But when there\'s sexual harrassement, that\'s where the line is drawn, that\'s just wrong.
In a lighter note, the game should be suitable for everyone there should be no regard for if the game was made for male or female players. In my opinion....

Davis, here\'s an example of how society is. You don\'t even have to leave your room. You\'ve already experienced it. You said you should leave your room more often, that\'s what society is today. BTW:
Hey its natural for guys to like girls (or sometimes other guys but lets not talk about that right now:P. Alucard has said enough about it on the previous post). Its fun. Of course I know what I am talking about.( Ask Xalthar. He thinks I have a weakness for women:rolleyes:. Moi!!.) So its only right to want to marry every single girl you see on the i-net :D. There is also the chance that they\'ll turn out to be fat 900 pound women but thats a risk I am willing to take if some of them look like Kada\'s sig ;).
However I am willing to admit that psychotic behaviour like looking at their bathroom windows through binoculars or beating up their boyfriends is wrong(unless you have other reasons of beating them up:P) And to set an example I will throw away my own binoculars and promise not to look at Aelya\'s house again :P:D.
So in conclusion I am a staunch supporter of Online Flirtation;) but not psychotic behaviour. If a girl tells you to bugger off I suggest you comply.

I think that most important in PS, for newbies and especially girls, is this game has a friendly community of \"old\" players that help newbies to integrate the game. I\'m on the game for 1 week and i have learn lot of things from these people :) ... so thanks to all for your help and continue to that way :p
