Title: Strategic takeover
Post by: Makist on December 01, 2003, 11:47:49 pm
If there is the ability to build our own towns/control towns and attack/defend them. then we need some strategy in it, i mean the ability to use magic/weapons froma  flying creature, maby tame a giant elphant or somthing to help destroy a wall/gate or maby have a score of dwarvish miners dig a tunnel and then have your warriros emerge from underground..catapults aand the like would be cool, maby unload bails of flaming hay froma flying creature above.

That sounds almost like an RTS.

It\'d be cool. I think it\'s not really a RTS since it\'s on a small place. Building town then taking them over is a nice thing.

However, altering maps is not an easy task so i assume that you system (if it is implemented) will be restricted i.e. you can take over cities but can\'t build them nor build tunnels/city walls...

There will be no player controled towns, or at least that\'s what I\'ve been hearing :P

Take it from me:

None of that is gonna happen in our lifetime. We\'ll be lucky if we get one comprehensive city with player owned and run establishments. Don\'t bog the devs down. They are crawling along already under the weight of this leviathan project so dont crush them under the burden of your expectations.

However its none of my business so carry on.

one good one?
how about not changing what you said? :P
it was about the idea, not if game was successful...

Anyway, I\'m just saying there was something lke that long time ago. I don\'t remember its name.
As for new ones i have no idea, i don\'t care about all those games.
Just give me Fallout 3 and Majesty 2 and i\'ll be happy :D

you want one good first person rts ok Natural selection you either play as marine comander making buildings which your soldiers have to make and lay down cover fire to kill oncoming karra aliens whilst you tech them up some neat weapons jet packs and stuff so they can zoom around :) to finsish the aliens you have to kill the hive aliens main structure
Or you play as the aliens capturing resource nodes much like hte marines but you have to be a \"Gorge\" to do so the only alien that builds once you have enough credits you can evolve into stronger life forms to kill the marines off you have to destroy all the infantry portals and kill all the marines

i dont know if you find them good, but battlezone and uprising are rts in fps-view games.
