OK,
this might be in some thread somewhere in this massive forum, but i didn\'t see it yet, so ...
How about when anywhere ingame, u can get challenged by some clicking manouvre, and a window pops up saying:
\"playerX wants to challenge u to a duell\"
then u can choose:
\"i accept this duel\"
thus u begin fighting; loozer dies, winner gets loot en Xp
or
\"i decline this duel\"
thus u cowardly run away and u can\'t be challenged to a duell for like 15 min.
this duelling should also consider level differences
meaning that a lvl 100 cant attack some noob lvl 3 or something ...
just a thought, how bout it ?
-
u could also add the leather glove slapping :-p
-
I would personally like to hear more about the \"leather glove slapping\" .. Sounds rather original :)
-
Well, let\'s say slapping\'d require skils in dexterity and melee.
If you get slapped but don\'t want to face, you get some popularity maluses, whereas the slapper gets popularity bunses ... 8)
kinda \"honor\" you\'ll need to defend
-
yea Colane i was just thinkin bout that. well, i believe this is the first LOGICAL post after yours in this thread cos the ppl b 4 me posted stuff which r irrevelant to what u said. its a gr8 idea. i support it.

There have already been talks about duels in several other PKing threads. My question for you is how would your idea work regarding levels since there will be no levels in the game?
EDIT: Oh btw I do like the idea of being able to smack someone with a glove :D
-
alright
what i\'m trying to say with the level thing is,
that a experienced character can\'t attack a much less experienced character.
ex. : a swordman with a Giant sword-fighting skill, can not attack a swordsman with a much smaller sword-fighting skill.
kinda
oh heck, duelling is cool, let the devs work it out :-p

I think levels are must-haves for MMORPG.
Anyway, skills are gonna increase, won\'t they ?
-
Well, I\'m sorry but with a challange system, you really would have to be a moron to fight somone with a sword half their size, and you just started out in the game, especially if you don\'t know what to do. Yeah, somepeople will equip weapons during battle, but you can\'t hold the newbies hand now can you? :)
And levels are bad for mmorpg\'s, they cause power gamers, and set a definite standpoint and limits for the game. My guess is that the devs want people to be immersed in the game and not worry too much about fighting, that isn\'t what the game is all about. :D
-
you could\'ve said, \"lets just copy the idea from
run3$c@pE>\"
-
why won\'t run3$c@pE be named ?
because it\'s another MMORPG ??
and if carefully worked out, duelling is an option, but we can wait for that ....
-
there wouldn\'t be a need for dueling, if the arena idea comes through.
I honestly have no idea why roonskayp won\'t be named.

With a duel option you can choose where you fight. As to me, fighting in woods, in the desert, in the water is much funnier than fighting in a basci arena.

dont just ignore my idea because of the first part. we should allow pk altogether. but (here comes the part that makes the first sentence reasonable) we should have a special job for punishing pkers who do illegal actions (like pking a player far weaker than themselves or steaing from noobs) like the crimson knights in .hack. and the players of ps should vote for a leader (like subaru) who decides whether or not a certain action is illegal and decides which punishment should be carried out (like ordering the knights to pk them, steal their items, basically punishment of any kind) and the knights themselves can choose to be one like a normal job? what do you think
-
for those of you seriously worried about griefers running around challenging noobs, theres always a way to compare some sort of skill count. IE: player A has a total of, lets say 350 points in x y and z skills, and player B who is just starting only has 10 points in skill w. in this case, player A would not be able to \'slap with a leather glove\' player B. whereas if player A has 400 total skill points and player B has like 390 skill points, it would be possible for player A to duel with player B.
-
okay, each arena will have its own landscape. So you wouldn\'t have to worry about fighting outside an arena now. :)
-
The glove slap would be amazingly funny. I can see it now, a Big bad guy comes up and challenges a newbie to duel, and instead of the the Big bad guy slapping the newbie the newbie slaps him calling him silly and then runs away. Haha that would be classic. Maybe this could be used when one character has a big difference over the other.
-
I dont know if this has been sayed before (probably has but anyway) In the game there has to be some kind of leveling, so a higher level is automaticly stronger that a lower. And if a higher attacks a lower that would be pretty unfair. So what I suggest: a higher lvl cannot challange a lower lvl player, while al lower can challange a higher. (with some kind of overlap, like 5lvls. Or els you would have tp be looking every where for a fight if you are just to strong.
Hope this is a bit clear :P
-
Nice idea guys... Level restriction is a fair thing so let\'s hope it\'ll work...
And how about taunting instead of glove slapping???
-
but i like the glove slapping, it reminds me of an old bugs bunny cartoon....
-
hahah, I was thinking of the same thing. Bugs Bunny cartoons have that to! :D But its not very realistic I guess, have you ever seen a person slap in a fight?? ;)
