Today (during the writting of this post) is the 30\'th of March. The very last day of March. Now I KNOW that games, especially one with on-and-off developers like this, shouldn\'t be pushed to release, blah blah etc. etc.
But, we were told that at the end of March we would get the demo. If there is any explanation for why this has happened, besides the fact that yall are on-and-off devs, please tell me. Such as a minor technical problem. Or that it will be released, just give it one more week.
All I need is a new release date, because I am getting annoyed of messed up release dates sorta.

start at your first knuckel....that is january..then go to the space betwen your 1st knuckel and your second knuckle..that is febuary...ect... the ones tha tland on knuckles have 31 days, the next has 30...lol

Ok, its march 31st, you devs, i understand it is hard to make the game, programming, modeling, texturing, etc. but i mean, plz dont bump it another month, i dont think i will stick around if taht happens.........

There are other Free Online RPGs out there, But this one inpeticular is a very good one :D . So good infact that I stayed 4 Months for it. But 5 Months would just break the line.
I know its hard work making a game. But why say that its coming out on a month thats its not going to. More Lies will just create more angrey people. and More Lies will just make us not believe.
So I say, For the First Time, And this is for Real. When Is It Coming Out? I want a real date this time. :D

Perhaps they\'ll let us download it tonight, or perhaps they are still tweaking the chat system. Anyway, I think that the players can wait two more weeks if necessary, but putting off the release date of the demo more than that will cause many people to leave.

heheh havent you noticed there are different time zones yet peoples? usually they update the site sometime in the evening my time i think, so im not complaining.....
anywho, if it IS gonna be held, which i dont think i ti will since they havent said that yet which they usually put it off by now....im still gonna hang around, been here since november, not like i have much else to do lol :D

Is it just me, or are some of the sigs not working?Mine is hosted on YourSigHost.. is there a problem?

Mine too is hosted in yoursighost.com, yet i\'m able to see it. Nevertheless, some guys who host it there can\'t. Maybe only a part of the sigs are affected by the server change.

Don\'t worry people, I know it\'s quite frustrating not having the demo yet, but I\'m sure the devs are doing everything possible to bring it to us as early as they can in April. It will be worth the extra little bit of patience. I even booked an extra day off work tomorrow to give me lots of time in the demo, whoops lol ;)
As a temporary measure, until yoursighost gets sorted out or an alternative is found, I am willing to host some of your sigs if you want, the board is starting to look silly ;). Email or PM me your sig if you want me to.

as for me, i care less when tehy release it, but that they will. lots of \'in progess\' rpg\'s tend to go under. let em handle thier business and support them and not act like spoiled children who are denyed a toy.

well to tell u the truth, poeple like me just hung around because what i thought they were doing was really great, creating a game for people to play for free. they seemed so organized and everything and it got my hopes up when they first started. but seriously they should neva have annouced this game until they were WELL into making it. it pisses me off when companies annouce something they haven\'t even started yet. do i really want to keep comming back here everyday for they next month just to see if they have released the DEMO? NO!, because after i see this demo im still gunna have to wait like years to see the real thing.
if u guys LOOK hard enough ull find games that people have already made for free(and will always remain free) which are alot of fun THAT WE COULD BE PLAYING RIGHT NOW, instead of waiting for this game.
that is why IM pissed off about them always delaying

I understand how you feel, I\'m disappointed too, but you have to give them some slack. I think there are still some issues to resolve, but I\'d rather have a functioning demo than something that doesn\'t even work.
The devs have no obligation to be answerable to us, we don\'t pay their wages or provide support to the project. We are the ones who will ultimately benefit from a great free game. I don\'t think they have announced this project too early, I am enjoying seeing the early stages of development of Planeshift and hope I\'ll be around to see everything come together.
Planned target dates and deadlines slip - fact of life. We should be grateful that we are even informed of any kind of date. Have patience, I\'m sure we will have something to see in a week or two or even sooner! ;)

cuz i think tehy announced the game, to yaknow, find people to help make it.
the deadline is jsut something for the dev\'s to aim for. im sure makin a game aint that easy and problems arise.

if u want..u can always go play your other game, and check the boards from tiem to time. im sure noone will mis your close mindedness. and please, take ninkwi with u, all he does is sit around and spam anyway.

well maybe its just me but watching games like warcraft III get anouced like 3 years before the game even comes out REALLY pisses me off. i really dont like it when games promise so much so early, but never follow through in the end.
and u guys go on about how they are all doing it for free... lets see what does this remind me of.... RUNESCAPE! he did everything by himself for 3 years and u guys all seem to critic his game, so why is this different
looks at mekets 360 posts... well if that aint spamming i dunno what is! u guys all say the reason u got so many posts is cause u been here longer. well i been here for along time but if u notice i post VERY little. im averaging like .3 a day where some of u guys are getting around 5. which is soo stupid it aint funny because if u haven\'t noticed these boards are DEAD. i check ever day and read ever post, and just cause u aint saying \"LOL\" for your post doesn\'t mean it aint spam.
this game has been delayed enough. just look at the forums, u guys seem to jump on every newbies post who says \"hi\" just so u can raise ur post count. do u remember the old forums? there were tons of people there! but they all left because this game is taking too long. and its gunna continue to happen to. esspecially if people like me leave.

I don\'t really want to get into an argument with you over this, but you are now making this personal, and labelling individuals with high post counts as spammers. I\'d like to think I don\'t spam (well not too often anyway - I try not to ;)). If a new person comes to this forum (or any forum I am a long term member of for that matter) I will welcome them - this has nothing to do with my damn post count, I think it\'s nice to be welcomed when you are new and is only common courtesy and good manners in my opinion.
Really, if this place is now making you so unhappy, just leave for a bit, we\'ll still be here if you want to come back. I happen to still like it here and despite what you say about this forum being dead, I like and respect the many people who come here and value the community we are creating.
I have had a lot of fun from Runescape and have many good things to say about it (some bad things too ;)), but you are wrong, this project is very different. Apart from the obvious visual differences, Planeshift has a much greater narrative element and a complete different focus on role playing, and has been said on numerous occasions this will remain a free project. Many of these features are exactly what RS lack and hence is very appealing to many of us who want a more in depth gaming experience.
I know you are angry, but this gives you no right to start flaming. I\'m sure you are a great guy really, but to be honest saying you are going to leave is not going to make a bit of difference. These things take time - deal with it.

once the game comes out though that WILL be something to do, so there really isnt any point in staying at the moment if all your gonna do is spam, me, i\'ve got BISM to work on so im gonna be sticking around here for a LONG time :D 8) 8o

ok heres my two cents...
u guys all go on about how great this game is, but whats this? WHAT GAME? u say your building a community, and it gunna have all this RPG crud, and how its gunna be SOOO much better than all the other games. but how can u say that when u haven\'t seen the game or anything. its not even CLOSE to being finished yet u make all these assumtions.
i downloaded some of the sample demos for cystal space and the graphics arn\'t that great compared to some other 3D game. your right, this IS free, so dont go around trying to make it some glorious game.

i tried real hard to stay out of this arguemnt,
but i say, a game is what the players make it..
we\'ve seen the screenshots, we\'ve talked to the dev people.. we know more or less what this game is going to be ..
i think all of you guys are just exgadurating (ok i have no idea how to spell that word).
what is important for you guys to remember, is that the players is what makes the game.. we are an important part of gave development, i think, and the devs listen to what we have to say (i hope).
if this game will eventually suck, then, bummers, but im sure it wont . . .
but if it will, i will just quit.. thats all there is to it.
and if u people are already upset, and think this is boring then you can just quit to, but dont try to get other people to quit! just do what ever you want, we dont need your shyt

I said it before but I see it is needed once again. Attack the post, not the poster. You can easly agree or disagree with a post or a reply but as soon as you take it to a personal level and attack the poster, you have changed it from a debate to a flame. This stuff is far too common and it needs to stop!
As for the demo, people asked for a release date and were given one on a guess. It was not set in stone and it is actually being worked on drasticly as to try and keep it close. The fact is that no one wanted to say a date cause every one knew that as new features were added, more bugs would arise. Think about it. 3D has done their best to put together the best models that they could do under this constraint of time. Settings has done twice what was needed just to try and make the people happy.
The fact remains that this demo is not actualy for the fans at all. We added features to it so the fans could have something to do but it is still only an engine test for the developers. So please stop with this \"we the fans are owed a demo\" type stuff. Yes we would love to have something for you all to play around with but it is not just for you. It is for us to better understand and learn how to deal with sittuations dealing with a live application.
So please stop with this \"we were promissed a demo\" cause no one was promissed a thing. We are doing our best to get something out but you know what makes it harder? It is hard to stay modivated to do something for people when those people sound so ungreatful. Like I mentioned before, this demo is a test for the development of the game, adding the chat and a few other things was purly just flavor for the fans. We could have easly just left those out and tested the engine ourselves but we thought we would try to do something nice.

Yeah... you can\'t bitch about a free game, its FREE, that may be one of the reasons the deom is so slow... but i think the demo will just show off graphics and perhaps take place of the chat room...

If you didn\'t like how Warcraft III was announced, then complain to Blizzard, because Planeshift has nothing to do with it. Yes, the dev team couldn\'t get the demo out before the end of March. So what? They didn\'t say it was definitely going to be out in that date.

This game will be much more different than Runescape. Read the game features and you will realize that PS is more focused on the roleplaying part, and it will dig deeper in other aspects of the game

If meket spams, I don\'t care, because I actually enjoy his posts. As I also enjoy ninkwi\'s, Kada-El\'s, Cyo\'s, etc. Because you average 0.3 posts a day doesn\'t mean that you always say something interesting either. And the forum isn\'t dead, as far as i can see.

I like the way that these people greet newbies, so I don\'t think they are just trying to raise their post count. They are being nice, something that all of us should be. And yes, the game will take a long time to be finished, for many reasons:
1. They don\'t earn money for making of the game, that means they have to work and that leaves them less time to do the programming, designing, etc.
2. The developers come from many different places, and they can only get in touch through Internet, and this makes it even more difficult.
3. There are always delays and complications, that is unavoidable.
Sorry everyone for the long post, but I couldn\'t stay out of this one. I hate when they jump all over the dev team and the members of the forum like this.

GIVE IT A BREAK DUDES! There are just a few guys around that are trying to make the game look bad.. just ignore them or ban them or whatever.. if they dont want to be here anymore i\'m sure they wont mind if they get banned. And about the release of the demo:

Just wanted to thank the Planeshift team.
They are doing a great job.
They are working on this game almost everyday and what do they get ? not much. I dont even have time to check this site every day so i really respect what they are doing.
I have been silence for a long time now because of some private things. I have been here since pff , december ? cant even remember :D I always checked the site and the forrums but didnt post allot.
I will try to be more active now.

OMG this thread has me so pissed! Why the **** would you be mad at a free game\'s demo not being released in the month they say? Patience is a Virtue and one that i respect most of all. FREE games should take a long time to get out! i would be happy if the demo came out this year and not complain!! Why don\'t you idiots go and make your own MMORPG and make a demo if you freaking want one now! Make it free. Hire a crew of 3D artists,Sound Mixers, 2D Artists,people to watch over the project, and a Website Designer! Theres alot more than i said to! I don\'t see you getting all pissed at Steven Spielburg when he moves his movies a month or two ahead!

You guys have to chill out a bit, after all this is a free game. If you want it out so badly go learn C++, get a bachelors degree in computer science, and make us a free game. Blizzard Entertainment (makers of the Warcraft, Diablo, and Starcraft series) has a whole staff they pay to work on their games and if Blizzard give you a release date you know they are going to be off by at least one year. Then there is also Duke Nukem Forever, they are like what, 3 years late already? The fact that the game is running late is a good sign, that means it\'s going through its normal process. Otherwise chances are it would just be a copy paste of another game. So just sit back and relax and watch with ahh at the very first free non-text oriented mmo.

Well im not realy coming back... i sortta quit, with out telling any one, well not realy quit just faded off one day, at the time i was and still am having a hard time with the house move and adjusting to teh new place (its friggin FREEZEING down here) sicne we live close to a snow capped mountain. Not to mention emotional stress which has a habit of killing any desire or creativity in me (First it was my grand parents dieing within 4 months of one another 2 years ago, then a cousin around my age died a couple of months latter (the only cousin I realy had anything to do with on my mothers families side) then finding out the girl I had my very first crush on (yes it took me 22 years to finaly experiance the feeling of Love, im a litle slow) at work already had a boyfriend (I didnt have the guts to act and strike up a friendship anyway the 2 years before when i started the job there). And now the last 6 months prepareing and doing the house move (culminating in 4 days of pure hell and confusion starting tuesday 2 weeks ago when we moved out on the final day in the old house). Me starting work in the PS team fell after most of that and before the closing months of teh house move... so im (at the moment) completely beat, un-interested and un-motivated, drained realy... havent drawn a thing in months... and I suppose thats why ive gone back to playing EverQuest, since it numbs me enough to forget my worries.
WHo knows, if PS needs some finalising models done or optimizing of exsisting ones I might help out... but im kinda out of it realy. Came in to the forums to see how things are progress. Havent been in teh chat channel for ages just incase I run into Talad (yes im one of those that avoids the people i think ive let down).
Any enough of my life story, there doing a good job, delays are inevitable but I look forward to some day playing the finnished product, and i think Thekkur has learnt and come a long in the 3D department, hes got the determination to see it through...

Sad to read that you are involving yourself less and less with PS, but I\'m sure everyone understands. You\'ve done some great work for this place, so don\'t feel like you\'ve let people down, maybe one day, you\'ll feel like picking things up again. I sure could use your advice sometimes, I hope you continue to visit us.
Come to the tavern sometime, it\'d be great to see you there (especially as Thoos is virtually resident! ;) )

Well, I did not intend for a post like this to happen, but whatever.
Anyways, I did not mean to offend. Its just that, I am a very patient guy, and I have been waiting for a lot of things lately. I have been here sence December, and then when I heard this was promised in Feb. I decided to stick around.
And then there was the cancellation, and then the March release, but now it seems we are real close.
A certain game (which I will not say the name of so people do not leave this place) has caught my attention. Its litterally revolutionary in free-roaming design. About 500 hours totally to play this game. Along with the main questy thing. So, thats why I have been out of the \"PS Thang\" for a bit.
Well, thats all I have to say, except for the obvious words of \"Sorry BigFoot\" would say more but I don\'t really know him so I can\'t comfort him or anything.
One last thing: Money was spelled wrong in the FAQ if any devs are reading this.
But like some guy once said, \"Time is the best teacher; unfortunatly it kills all of its students.\"

sorry don\'t wanna sound bitchy (ooo offensive) but actualy U did promise. I don\'t care how long takes but then just don\'t give a release date. I mean say it will take 2 years and then after two years deliver it. don\'t say end of february and then nothing. end of march then nothing. etc etc. I know it\'s not ur fault completely. The people keep nagging about a release date and the devs get irritated and give a release date wich they can\'t make. SO people quit nagging and devs give a release date U can make or don\'t give a release date at all. cuz ur givin me insomnia!!
