Title: How about some special moves?
Post by: Ice_Phoenix on January 10, 2004, 12:40:43 am
I don\'t know if it\'s possible but I would like to see some kind of special moves in the final game. E.g. hand-to-hand warrior goes to the enemy and with xx% possibility takes the weapon from him. Or a fighter stuns a mage with a hit on his head (or maybe butt... It depends on what do you use for casting...). You get the point. What do U think?

yes, some random side effects to attacks would be nice.
Luck would have a big influence in this though, so it  would finally be useful for something.
there could be side-effects to spells too, for example:
A fire spell could cause burn, wich takes HP off every turn.
An ice spell could cause freeze, so the opponent can\'t mave for some time
A dark could cause frightening, wich makes the enemy weaker.
An azure spell could confuse the enemie, so he inflicts damage on himself and lowers his accuracy.
etc.

I think those side effects should also affect the spell caster.

Throw a fire ball and risk the chance of getting burned.  It would help ensure that spell casting would be only used in dire circumstances.

nah, if theres gonna be special moves maybe it\'d be something like if u use a certain skill after another certain skill (lets say melee skills), then it\'ll play a different animation for the second skill, and maybe for the third skill if u use another

but special effects should be added through skills/spells and special effects on equipment and from usable items

not just random cause a random stun is kind of cheap cause it makes mobs easier in a way, unless u have a weapon that adds it then that means it\'d be weaker then normal weapons

and yes im sure u ment low chances like .05% chance but still, some ppl are luckier then others

Why would you want it that people would only cast spells in dire emergencies? That makes no sense at all. What if they are a magician/mage/whatever and all they can do is cast spells? I think if someone could minipulate fire and make it appear out of no where they wouldnt easily catch themselves on fire.

then make movies, try givin an example first or something close to show what kind of skill ya have, but whatever do what ya want, anyways, im tired of melees and range ppl posting ideas that make it harder for mages and such to cast spells, the last time i heard one of those ideas was an idea suggesting that (if i remember right) casting spells would also cost ya HP, otherwhys it was something else i cant remember

but anyways i wish some ppl werent so greedy about making it harder to play as melee or range and almost impossible as a mage (cause they dont play a mage)

but anyways i appologize for the OT post but heres what else i have to say, ive been makin some weapons just to give ppl ideas on what i like and what other ppl MAY like and such, ill have them posted by the end of Wednesday, and i think they\'d be good for having special moves like i explained on my prev. post about different animations and such

lol, sure.. if you would have paid attention, you would have seen that almost all these ideas were proposed by members of The Arcane Order(a mage\'s guild), it\'s just more fun if it\'s somewhat harder, it keeps the noobs away from doing all kinds of powerful spells etc.

maybe, but then again there should be a disadvantage that allows for some of these things, cause its not mage-like to be able to kill urself (unless casting an AoE too close) or do negative things to make it really hard for ya to lvl up and find new things and such, i could see myself using this disadvantage after i get a high lvl char or so, but still lets just hope something good happens :)
