\"HOW C0m3 1 C4N\'7 |<1ll st00F????????????!!!!!!!!!!!11111111\"
N00b=Someone who is extremely annoying, bothersome, stupid, and irrational.  Does not get jokes.  Repeats same question multiple times.  Wonders why it can\'t kill everything instantly.  Does not Role-play

\"What\'s a  for?\"
Newb(ie)=Can\'t RP (or can, depends), but tries.  Helpful, just new, so it doesn\'t know much.  Attempts to fit in.  Makes a mistake once, only once (usually).  Nice person.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N00b
Noob or n00b (Correct 1337 spelling is //006)

The term \"noob\"(or \"n00b\") is almost always meant to be offensive. A noob or n00b is a newbie who claims to know a lot about a subject, but really does not. They often show off their false skills to gain a reputation. The term was first used in hacker groups on the BBS chat systems in the 70\'s.

The spelling noob or n00b, while originally having a specific meaning, is now genrally used to refer to all forms of newbies. Usually in a negative manner.

wikipedia is great for these things, they even have a whole leet dictionary :D :P

(ok, i was wrong.. noob and newbie aren\'t the same :\\)

Yes, I\'ve been to wikipedia, I have a print-out of their entry on leetspeak 3 and a half feet behind me. The one thing I found shaky about it was the definition of n00b. They got the offensive thing right, but a n00b rarely claims to know a lot about anything, except hacking n00bs.

well, in my eyes the difference is that a noob/n00b is someone who behaves like a buttmunch
and a noobie/newbie is just someone who\'s new

newbie = good
noob = bad

note that a noob doesn\'t have to be new to the game.

IMHO

It\'s derived from newbie, and the definitions have some similarities, but it\'s not the same.

IMHO

I never said n00b = newbie... if you look at the second post in this thread I said something different...
I\'m saying n00b must be new to something... as in not experienced...

I can\'t believe that we\'re discussing this.. what\'s the point? People that are n00bs won\'t accept the fact that they are, and newbies doesn\'t worry about it.

These words mean different things to different people. They arn\'t \"real\" words (wikipedia isn\'t a dictionary :P) and so don\'t have any one specific meaning.

They\'re just what you make of them. :) You newbies! Hehe.
