I think that a card game or other game of chance that is unique to the PS universe should be included. The card games in FFVIII and FFIX were an excellent (i am not suggesting to make a game like that because i am sure someone would be angered and lawsuits would fly ;)). I do however think that a card game that is unique to PS would be great.
Also i believe that we should be able to gamble on the PvP duels that are held in the arena.
I think the addition of these two ideas would add greatly to the PS experience.
Any ideas for the card game?

i like the idea of a card game alot. maybe something do with crystals. lol

Sabacc!
Rats, that one\'s taken.
Being able to sit down at a bar and play games would be great fun. The way I would envision it happening is that there would be a generic arrangement of cards on the table (so that other people could tell that a card game was being played) and that your \"hand\" (or whatever) and the state of the game would be displayed in a floating transparent window, so that you wouldn\'t become too separated from your environment (as opposed to switching into some kinda \"game mode\").
Perhaps a player with low ability would accidentally flash his cards to other players? Just a random thought.

this could be fun i think that your luck stat should increase your chances of getting a good hand but it should still be random that way cards games wont be one sided maybe they should start with adding rummy and other classic games while the user body hammers out the rules and basics for a new card game

I usually like the in-game card games. The ones in Final Fantasy where pretty fun. The trouble is working out the ruleset. Again could be a good community project to work on a ruleset and then you can play that as you wait for new PlaneShift releases :).

although if there is a card game invented please dont make people have to buy the cards or collect specific cards. everytime a game does this i never play the card game cus i feel theres no reason to waste the money. EX knights of the old republic. I didnt play the game untill like the VERY end of the game. and i still feel it wasnt worth while. all of the card games put toghether was only about 8 hours of play.

Well, you could make it a poker type game... like, with a PS format deck of cards...
Say... 60 cards in a deck, with 3 different suits (20 cards to each suit)...
that way you can play multiple games at a tavern with the same deck... like a form of blackjack or 5 card draw.

I think he was talking more of a battling card game. Something easy like Triple Triad but not complex like Magic: The Gathering.

Cool idea !
I think it would be good to play a game of cards for money or even a simple game of planeshift checkers for some tria which would add some skill into it and add variety to the things to do.

Magic is not as complicated as people think... Ok the if not the poker idea, how about this:
Kill a monster, get a change of recieving that monster\'s card (if a card spell was cast before the monster died). Those cards have a certain HP and Attack.
Out of the cards you have, you choose 15. The comp shuffles. Then, both players flip over the top card and the 2 monsters battle. Each monster victory will be counted. The person with the most monster battle wins on their counter, wins the game.

There\'s nothing stopping us from having multiple games - traditional cards, ff type games, and crazy stuff like magic.
Personally I\'ve always liked chess...... I\'ll get back to you on that one! ;)

Although i do enjoy the FF type card games (collect cards from monsters and use them to play), i think that the creation of a new deck of cards would be much more interesting. My thought was that new players go in a pub, sit down, play the card and meet other players.
I think that this would help new players become a part of the PS community. Rather than having only l33t players have the best cards (they already have better characters why should they have an advantage in gambling too? ;))
Just my thoughts.

What about cheating? How \'bout you can cheat, but you may be caught aand lose immeidiatly?

Yes if this is what I think.. An in game card game something for our character to do with crystals then yes this would really rock. Heck they could even make it as a website link like the merchant if they need to.
Just an idea. In game would be better but then that would mean a mini release or patch. Online website would be easier I am betting.

easy thing from a developers stand point would be too do solitare, poker, and maybe some other normal card games, then you have half the work cut out code wise for a PS card game. I do have the rules for my own card game around somewhere (was gonna make it into a computer game one of these days) and i\'ll be willing to give the rules etc to the devs once i find it if they want

A mini game from \"our\" world like: chess, poker, etc... Would be great too, and ofcource a game invented for the game itself.
But games which everyone knows will be played faster, so like chess that would be played in a tavern pretty quick because (almost) everyone knows the game already. And the rules are set, so no comming up with ideas \"just\" program the game ingame :P (just, right, lot of work )
And the card game that is being invented atm on the forums, that one should be ingame too, but that will take longer to make offcource. And I like that idea too

Agreed on Magic not being complicated.
I like the idea of monsters dropping cards (only monsters worthwile though). However, the card spell will effectively only allow mages to play the card game. Unless it was a very, very to easy learn spell and anyone could learn it, even someone who really sucks at casting magic.
