Title: When?....News?...Screenshots?
Post by: Bullian on January 23, 2004, 03:41:23 am
Hi PS community,

i am glad i am here, i love this game and the comm, its great.
Well the thing is, i was thinking, when we will hear something else about CB?. I am not just saying about the release date, i mean anything at all. It would be nice that you guys in the dev. dep. would post some screenshots of some of the new futures, like a char fighting, or... someone in a market buying something, who knows there is a lot to do. I mean atleast from the futures we allready know, i am not asking things that you are not even working on.
Well thats it. Hope some of you devs. read this and give an answer, it would be greatly welcomed.

Cheers.

Note: Sry for my english :)

I think part of the problem is that a lot of the screen shots will, to quote: \"Look like ass\"  for the simple matter that not all the graphics/fonts are in place and the models are not fully textured yet.  So we could show a screen shot and have a lot of people say \"Woah, that looks like crap\" when it is only half finished with the details.

I agree though that we need to show more screen shots but is not my decision.  Get on IRC and talk to Talad about it since he has final say in it. :)

Plus I found out how to create AVI\'s in Crystal Space so when we are ready we can have a whole mess of videos for people to download and watch.

Thanks for the update Acraig.

I think the devs are right on this one though.  If they release the graphics to soon, some may loose intrest thinking that this is the finished product.

Perfection is its own reward.

Yes, they will require the divx decoder.  mplayer in linux ( if built correctly ) should have no problems playing them and the divx player ( available from their site ) will play them without problem in Windows.

AVI videos?  These would be like, you guys running around and screwing with things? :P

I\'m suprised we even got that last update, although I agree with you initially Bullian :)

Yes there are a couple of avis out there now but just to show team members some things that are wrong.  For example the dwarf currently stabs himself in the head with his axe as he runs.

Well, it will solve the dwarf problem I guess (that being, there actually being dwarves :P)

Look at the time, I\'ve got to go now...

Why not give him a different weapon?

Aww why did you have to fix that? It would have been funny watching a dwarf stab himself in the head ;)

Awww man!  I absolutely hate Divx.  Why?  Adware sucks.

you dont need the adware version for merely playing divx-encoded videos. If you do to http://www.divx.com/divx/ (http://www.divx.com/divx/) there is  a link below the features column, called \"Standard DivX Codec(FREE)\". That is only the divx own player and the codec required to play divx  videos.
