Title: Armour
Post by: RussianVodka on January 28, 2004, 11:29:30 pm
I have asked this question before, but it was way to early to tell. So here it is again.

Here are some Q\'s i have about the armour:

1. Will it show on your char, or will it just apear in your inventory.

2. Will you buy a suit of armour that covers your whole body, or do you have to buy every piece seperatly. (boots, chest plate, helm, ect.)

3. Will the type of armour you need depend on your size? (Dwarfs need smaller armour, Krans need larger armour)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since i do not know much about what stuff will be like in CB the rest of my Q\'s are not worth asking.

well im going to write a post every developer is going to hate me for. FROM WHAT I SEE IN THE CVS.... *watches devs stare in disbelief* i see that we will have seperate pieces of armor in every slot. but i dont know if one certain peice of armor can cover multiple slots. but it looks like they are really trying to get the multiple slot thing out there because there are like 300 of them, each of them being a seperate part of the body. *runs from angry developer*

oh yikes i have no idea how i could get any. im sorry. but relly there isnt anything to see. just a very basic model for all the races that looks like a really bad person made by a 2 month year old baby. its a sliding bunch of blocks with numbers on the blocks. it shows your life and othe peoples life. you cant REALLY fight but it says so in the text. and you can buy weapons but ya cant look at them. so dont worry about it. you arent missing anything till cb. cheers

Most games like PS have equipment for each slot but you tend to have to buy each piece one at a time - I was thinking what\'d be really cool is if you could by a set all at once for a discount price - that\'d be great.

That\'s one of those realistic RPG elements that I\'ve always missed - the merchants are never out of merchandise! You can buy 1,000,000 potions and they never have to restock - it\'d be awesome if you went to the armoror to buy some plate mail and he/she was like, \"Sorry I\'m all out. Could you come back tomorrow?\"

With the job system this dream seems like it may come true! Wheeee!

I hated that \"little\" feature in Morrowind... I can only imagine the horrors of such a feature implemented into a mmorpg, It\'d turn out just like Asherons call 2 where there are no NPC merchants.. boring :P

I wonder how indepth the armour making process will be.

Will we have to for example  Studded leather armor.

Pelts.  Skin and process them until we have good leather.

then dye them  with  a dyeing process.

get ore and smelt it until we have good metal for making studs.

Melt and mold the studs and buckels.

Cut leather and attacht studes and buckels etc..

find wax of some type and harden the armor by boiling it in wax.

This would be a sample process in making leather armor.

( I make this kind of armor for the local Amtgard group and Have seen some really good SCA groups that make armor like this as well.)

I kinda hope that the process will be easier than the above steps.  But then again.. the more steps the more fun you can have to quest to make some armor.
