Some things are a bit unproportional, but overall it\'s kinda good. :D
The outfit could be more detailed, the face human :P and one leg healthy.
Good first effort. :))
-
Maybe after 100 more of those. You can make pretty good stuff ^^
-
just keep the practice up Monk, you\'ll get there!! On the top!! ^^
Well, it looks good, guess you\'re just as good as me, we can make a drawing, but nothing dynamical

Let me make a point here.
My art would be much worse if I didn\'t use shapes to define the figure of my drawings beforehand.
This improves proportions indescribably.
-
Monketh your work is cool i get tired of seeing all the painted ones yours is original, i like the first one. God i wish i could draw... ;(

Your stuffs quite nice, and your skills will no doubt get even better given practice.
its also good to hear you are using construction shapes to do your figures. As I\'m sure youv\'e noticed they greatly improve proportioning. Dont forget however that more than shape positioning is the overall movement of the pose your character is in, one way to help express that might be to start with a thought of what your character is doing then drawing just the head shape and the backbone first to set the flow of the picture, not forgetting to visualise all this 3 dimensionaly so that the shapes and the overall pictures have depth then simply fill out the image
anyhow thats my shpeil, I hope it helps or at least enterains :)

(Cool! I got a Kintall post! :)) )
That\'s true, I don\'t draw action poses very often.
As for that picture there, I went and browsed about twenty or so sites on drawing in the anime style beforehand. :P

once again , lovely work
and if yuo are interested in learning anime style drawing techniques then I\'ve heard that the \"how to draw manga\" book series is utterly awesome, I personaly have some of the later books in the series and they are really really helpfull, and translated really spectacularly badly (Quote: \"Some buildings and vehicles can be very promiscuous\") but still good, your local book store, comic shop or art supplies store could probably get them in for you,
yeah thats my big ol recomendation
as for the rogue pic its very lively, youve remembered to keep line of sight in play given the situation and the faces are very \"alive\" and I can really see your using 3d space, just dont forget that prportions are just as important
oh and one more lil thing, draw hands as much as you can and allways try to draw boobs well, they are some of the hardes things to draw given the flexibility of their shapes and variations and hands especialy as they hold so much expression if you use them well ( I still dont:P)
anywho thats my lil thing hope I\'m helping not just blarging :)

Yeah, I saw the books, and a friend of mine has one. They can be very helpfull, and drawing it quite easy if you see it like that :P
Nice drawing again :D

nice monk, but a little critiscisme (did I typ that right?)
The light seems to come for infront of him, so why is there only a shadow on the left of his nose? Or is it a very crocked nose?:P
Or if the light comes from the right (and no nose shadow fits) The shadow of the helmt isnt quite right.
Anyway, just a bit of thing I saw, nice pict. You got the nose right... Thats one of my flaws
-
its a very nice head, your definately getting a style going, keep it up
all is well etc...
-
Another Helmet (Non-character and thusly no-ps related)

tiz a nice helmet all the same, and the colouring is groovy too

Another two bits of artwork for kintall to talk about and everyone else to ignore. :D :P
Firstly, another Monk pic, this one done in more of a \"by hand\" manner. It is intended for thread-heading-banner use.
Secondly, a pretty, non-planeshifted related lady.
http://www.geocities.com/sgtfunkymonkey/tatoosmall.txt
The tatoo looks Kintallesque. Why? That\'s how it was in my dream. I had a strange dream the night before last, in which I was playing a videogame using third-person mode. Of course, the screen was right up to my eyes and I couldn\'t see the television. Anyway, this was the female character I was controlling around a beach. Weird, no? Artistic inspiration comes from all sorts of places.
For a demonstration on how abstract my dreams are, I present these two sentences: On Monday night I dreamt I was part of a family living in a dumpster on the roof of a tanish retail building next to a 4-story building like it. I thought \"Wouldn\'t a helicopter be nice?\" and >poof!< an abandoned shell of a huey was duct-taped to the top of the dumpster. :)
Edit: Btw, the second picture has a 1000\'something tall version and I have the .xcf also if anybody wants it. (Yeah right : P)
-
I am mentioned... cool
I really do liekthe monk fellow, hes al green garbie, and theres evidence of shading as well which is allways a good thing, looks like you are getting your syle going as well, as for the tattoo lady, keep it up female bodies are a pain, (to draw that is) they are more difficult than males as they are more three dimensional,, so keep it up, all in all: very nice
:)
-
You definately have your own style in your drawings, i like it alot! Keep it up! One more reason to keeping talking on forums!

I think its really cool, making your own creative artwork best represents a person! Kintall has really cool signatures as well, wish I could make my signature move like his :]
-
naah its easy to make em move, just poke them a few times... :P

Recognize this person? :P

Thought I\'d redo meh sig.

OOOOOOOOOHHHH, I like like like, iuts got your style and its got a peacefull feel, youve thought of where the shadows go, this is all good stuff

Found this ol\' sig from my LW days. My mad MSpaint skillz show themselves. :D

Well, should explain itself.

-->
Where did I get this crazy idea anyway? Well, I was playing cards quite a bit with some friends of mine while I was traveling, and I didn\'t have my own deck, so I got out the duct-tape and made one. (with only two suits mind you, but I was too lazy to finish it.)
-
im loving the sig especially the card idea ITS GREAT!
-
...and now for some art not directly related to my character or his back story!
...and some that is!
NeuralKineticInline-Unit02 :P Unfinished, obviously.
-
cool! so you have a sci-fi backstory like mine, awesome!
You need to work on your eyes, they seem to take away from the feeling of your drawings
-
I must comment on your style. A few minor problems with proportions here and there, hands need improvement upon - but overall I think it is pretty good.
You did a nice job on that chain in the flail... drawing chains seems to be the one thing I have the most trouble with =(

Well, should explain itself.
that is very nice, except, the torso should come to be thinner near the bottom, instead straight.
kinda like a \"V\" except not so angular. not only does this ad to the realism of the drawing, but it also makes it more sexy :)
-
More art! I really should finish my drawings. :P
Wisekran: It\'s part of the uniform design.

Wow! This came out beautifully. :))

Ok refering to the original card picture you made is that a boy or a girl? Because if that is a guy them some big man boobs ^^ Never caught onto it before but now it makes me wonder!
-
Look at the upper left-hand corner. It\'s the Queen of Spades, therefore, female.
No comments on the new stuff?
-
Nice art Monketh, I like your style.
That new one is my favorite, although it is odd that some parts of him are covered by blue (I\'m sure it is intentional, can you explain?). The proportions are excellent (eyes are in the middle of his head).
I\'m glad to see a fellow GIMP user although I\'ve only been using The GIMP for about month. I can see that your (smooth) shading needs some work. I use a Wacom tablet (4x5 in. Graphire2, cost me ~$100) to get smooth shading, with the airbrush tool. It helps immensely. I\'m not sure about the options available without a tablet, though. Maybe you just prefer line-art? It is a unique style, but it must take awhile to do. And don\'t be afraid to use Filters in your art. There are some really useful ones that can create texture to make it more interesting.
Post more art! :D
-
So uh, Monk, who is the dude in the last picture?
By the way it is quite nice.
-
The dude in the last picture is...
Monketh, in his Earth Forces uniform.

Thank you for your criticisms.
The blue is a kind of steam/water vapor bit.
About smooth shading, I think I\'ll just have to make a bigger brush, or apply a blur.
-
I am jealous of your talent. Seriously. All I can draw is anthropomorphics. :/
Except your first pic was a bit too LOTR for me...

Yes, I realize the text is shoddy. : P
I take no credit for the foreground image (Enkidukai).
The original drawing was created by Karyuu.
The coloration of said drawing was done by Moogie.

I find useing shapes makes it harder to draw pictures? Well thats just me anywayz....

Hatchnet: Free time on my part. ...and knowing just what you\'d want to see in one.
Efflixi: Is it really anime, though? Only half so. Most of my art is only half this or that. My personality\'s the same way. :P
Soulless: I lose all sense of proportion if I don\'t use shapes to start off a drawing. You have to remember I\'m drawing entirely freehand here.
Looking at these sigs is a trip down memory lane for me. That second-to-last one was done by Moogie when I held a contest. It was one of my first posts on the main forum. :P

Huh free hand????
If you meanyou draw by hand. I also draw by hand.

\"Freehand\" meaning I use no pictures when drawing. I don\'t draw from photos or real-life very often.

Well i don\'t use any photos or real-life EVER!
Trust me when you get better stope useing shaps. it really makes it much more easy. But until them stay with the shaps.

Monketh in the Wilderness

Yes, I know I should have gone over the sky to make it look more cavern-style. He must be on the surface, or something.
