Long ago a city of men ruled by King Brohma was surrounded by unsearched land. Brohma was a greedy king with a strong desire to expand the city\'s boarders at any cost. One day while exploring with his troops, Brohma approached a cave entrance. He sent 3 men inside. They ran out speaking loudly, almost in disbelief of the diamonds they saw within the cave. Brohma\'s men marched inside, and met a group of large cobras seemingly guarding the diamonds. When the men attempted to take the diamonds without disturbing the deadly serpants, they were attacked. The cobras only attacked when the men picked up the diamonds. Brohma needed to end this disturbance, so he ordered all of the cobras killed. Some of the troops were slain by the cobras\' lethal venom, but most survived and gathered the diamonds along with King Brohma.
The King did not realize he had just found and stolen the treasure of the serpant goddess Camika. Camika, enraged with the king\'s actions, shed her scales and crafted them into an armor of human form. She hid herself within her armor, and assassinated the king when he entered the city. She returned her treasure to its original resting place. And added her newly crafted armor to the treasure. She also raised those who died while gathering the treasure, and assigned them the duty of guarding it forever.
Those who had seen The darkness in the shape of a human that had slain the king said that it was encased in a robe so strong, it was invincible to any weapon lacking elemental damage. And so formed the Legend of the Forbidden Scales, crafted by the goddess Camika, that absorb all physical damage. The Forbidden Scales would be the perfect light armor for an assassin if they really existed...
Here is the helm of the armor, the rest will come soon!

Umm... How do you wear a snake\'s head?
-
I think it looks great. :) Looking forward to seeing more pieces of the Forbidden Scales!

It is not a head, it is a helm made from the scales and teeth of the goddess with a precious gem for the eye. It is worn like so:

Nice!
-
very nice. (http://www.planeshift3d.com/wbboard/images/icons/thumb_up.gif)
Only thing that bugs me: You need some sort of eye protection. Otherwise the teeth might do nasty things to them. ;)

As Norm Abrahm would say...
\"The is no more important safety tool than these, safety glasses.\" :D
-
A warrior fully dressed with your armor shall be fearsome :D I really like the helm :)
-
hmm really wanna see the chest armor...

\"Abosolutely. Before I became way more famous than Norm I used to always wear protective goggles. When I\'d sneak into the Yankee Schoolhouse to smash up his projects late at night I\'d always use my goggles. Ha, old Norm never did see the humor in that. But yeah, wear \'em.
And, stay out of my camera frame, please!\"
-
Ok, i get it now. Yeah, those teeth look dangerous. I also hope that the scales are ultra-strong or something.
-
Wow, Maxximus, I\'d have to say that is one of the most...errrr...unique posts I\'ve ever seen....
-
Yar, cool. :D I want one. :P
-
Sorry for the side pic on the model (I didn\'t mean to cause so much commotion in the thread). the teeth span is actually pretty wide. They appear to be in front of the eyes in that side model, when really they are just outside the cheekbones.
Here\'s the cloak and the chest armor that goes with the set.
(http://arachnid.pepperdine.edu/sdbarbia/Cloak.gif) (http://arachnid.pepperdine.edu/sdbarbia/breastplate.gif)
-
wow that stuff is way awesome! sadly i have no artistic abilities. great stuff cant wait to see the legs. The cape and helm are way awesome, but whys the chest green?
-
the inside of the cloak and the outside of the breastplate were supposed to represent a scale similar to that on the bottom of a snake. If I made them all black, they would not give much contrast when worn together. I tried to make it a dark enough shade of green so that it would still be a great assassin armor, however, if there is any improvement anyone thinks can be made, please suggest it.
-
i might suggest making the inside of the cloak a bit brighter in green because it looks black or making the armor a bit darker i dont know im not an assasin so im not very good at critiqueing or however its spelled. though it doesnt really need to much improvement looks great. :D
-
better?
(http://arachnid.pepperdine.edu/sdbarbia/helm3.gif) (http://arachnid.pepperdine.edu/sdbarbia/breastplate2.gif) (http://arachnid.pepperdine.edu/sdbarbia/Cloak.gif)
-
lol i never said it was bad, but now it looks simple amazing great for an assasin. Great job. :D
-
very nice quite amazing
though just a bit constructive critisizm: the cloak doesn\'t look much like what an assain would wear it looks more mage-like i would consider changing that flarey thing on there and replace it with a hood also maybe make the helmet a little less shiny...though then it wouldn\'t be as cool and snake-like
not that it\'s not good just a few comments don\'t take it the wrong way
-
Thank you very much for your critisizm! I also agree about the cloak thing, and I even made it with a hood at first, but it looked too plain, and I needed to add something distinctive of the armor set it belongs to. Therefore I added the Cobra neck instead of a hood.
Also did you mean the blue glow was the shiny part or the helm itself? The glow was only put there to show that the helm had teeth, it does not exist on the item. Also, if you\'re basing the shine on the ss of the model wearing the helm, I did not fix it up enough to look good, I was just giving a quick example, so the helm did look too shiny.
*EDIT
And So the Forbidden Scales lay in their illuminated tomb, hidden from the discovered world. The legendary treasure has been a dream of many an explorer, yet it has eluded everyone for all of this time. It would make one very fortunate treasure hunter the most lethal of assassins or one of the richest of merchants if it were found...

-
Good stuff, scobar. Creepy!
-
the cloak is damn nice....how much :P?
-
Seeing you are so good at creeating this stuff, maybe you could put together a small howto? Wat kinda programs you use, do you start of with some base model? This way more people could get up your level, I wouldn\'t mind being one of them for instance.
-
well i ment the helm wuz a bit shiny on it\'s own but it looks better now
and very nice armor the lil claw things comin off the boots is really cool

Elyxadra was a young girl who would follow her mother on walks through the forest. her mother studied magic and the essence of nature, but Elyxadra quickly became interested in the areas her mother wouldn\'t venture into. Elyxadra\'s mother warned her to stay away from the dark parts of the forest, and the dark side of the essence within. Her mother was very much aware of the evil magic that could be drawn from nature, but would never think to use it. This made Elyxadra curious.
Late at night, Elyxadra would sneak from her room and into the forest. There she learned of a magic more powerful and agressive than that her mother was studying. Elyxadra became enchanted by it, and she learned and practiced it. As Elyxadra continued her disobedience against her mother, her appearance began to change. She also grew very thirsty, a thirst she couldn\'t quench. One night she saw another creature with similar characteristics as she had. She watched as the bat drank blood from another animal\'s neck. She followed this example and found the reason for her thirst.
Elyxadra drank the blood of many creatures of the forest at night, but one night, her mother caught her sneaking out of her room. After a short struggle, Elyxadra had found herself more powerful than even her mother. She broke through her mother\'s defensive spells and attacked. Elyxadra drank all of her mother\'s blood then let the limp body fall to the ground. Her craving for blood began anew, but this time she wanted only human blood. Elyxadra tormented the town by the entrance of the forest. She killed and drank from at least one unfortunate soul per night.
The Mage guild in the town pretended not to notice as they has all along known of Elyxadra\'s dark power since the death of her mother. They were busy crafting a mighty axe out of the most powerful staff! The guild leader would use this axe to challenge Elyxadra.
So the guild prepared and waited as Elyxadra entered the town. She recognized the ambush immediately as her powerful senses outmatched each of the mages. Yet as a group, their powers managed to paralyze Elyxadra. The leader of the guild then took the axe, crafted from a staff and slowly cut into Elyxadra\'s neck. As the blade cut, Elyxadra whispered a curse, but the curse could not be finished, as her head was soon dissconnected, and the words of the curse hardened Elyxadra\'s blood to the axe. The mages, afraid that Elyxadra could rise from the dead crafted her head into the axe. Thus giving the essence of Elyxadra to the axe.
Descendants of the Mage guild that had slain Elyxadra are said to be guarding the axe, keeping it hidden from society. For if the axe is weilded again, it is said that Elyxadra will steal life from the victim and give it to the one holding the axe. Her powers are even strong enough to surpass the defense of the Forbidden Scales, and thus giving the weilder absolute offensive power. \"I swear that \'Elyxadra\'s Bite\' Shall never be again released upon the world as long as I live,\" states each mage before they are assigned to guard the blood-thirsty axe.
and here is a picture of the legend axe. The blade has been sharpened, but the blood of Elyxadra remains on the face.
Elyxadra\'s Bite:

ps. sekhmet, a howto on this simple axe is being created...
-
Sekhmet this is for you and anyone else interested in learning how I construct my items. Please ask any questions you have after reading it so that I can help you out even more.
This tutorial is for Photoshop 7, the only program I\'ve used for my images so far.
Please follow along with the pictures as you read:
First you have to imagine the item you\'re about to create. If it includes anything too complicated to construct using enhancements to shapes, then you\'ll have to build it/them first. For this example, I\'ll build the skull I used in the axe.
1. First think of all of the shapes that need to be defined alone and draw them on separate layers. Box one shows each shape I used in the skull: Head, jaw, dimple, eye socket, teeth, teeth definition.
*Color does not matter so I use contrasting colors to easily see each layer.
2. Box 2 shows the view of all of these layers positioned correctly before any enhancements were applied to them.
3. Box 3 shows the skull after enhancements were made to each part. To use these enhancements, simply right click on the layer and select \"Blending Options...\"
Head
- bevel&emboss + contour to give a 3d look
- texture to give it a bone look
- drop shadow to shadow the lower jaw
Dimple
- bevel&emboss + correct contour to give it a crater look
- texture to match bone look
- gradient overlay with the dark part starting at the deepest part of the dimple to give the crater a better 3d look
Eye Socket
- gradient overly(same as dimple)
- used a darker gradient to give it a deeper look.
Teeth
- color overlay (white)
Teeth Definition
- opacity 80%
4. color and shade change
First, you need to save your image. Save the layered photoshop file by clicking \"save as...\"
Save the single photo of all layers binded together using \"save for web...\"
close your ps layered image and open the file you just saved for web.
now you should have a single layer. Select that layer
goto Image>adjustments>hue/saturation to change the color.
goto Image>adjustments>brightness/contrast to change the shade.
5. tilt
goto Image>Rotate Canvas
6. Return to step 1, but this time draw all of the pieces of the item. Here I drew a shaft, handle, bloodstain, top, blade, crystal, and added a the skull.
7. Goto step 2...here you see the axe with all of the pieces layered correctly.
8. Here is the final pic after some enhancements.
Shaft
- texture to make it wood-like
- bevel&emboss + contour for 3d look
Handle
- bevel&emboss + contour for 3d look
- texture for a metal handle look
Bloodstain
- bevel&emboss + right contour for a more glassy look
- satin for a darker glow inside
Top
- right bevel&emboss + contour for a metal effect
Blade
- bevel&emboss(chisel hard style) + contour to make metal blade effect
Crystal
- outer glow
- bevel& emboss + contour with a glassy look
Skull
- no change
and when everything was put together, it became the finished product.

I know that I have been very general in this howto, so please ask any specific questions you may have. I\'d be glad to answer them.
-
That is absolutely incredible, Scobar! You are truly talented! :) That looks like a very nice dwarven axe...
*drools* :D
-
Dude! Scobar! You rool! You haven\'t joined a guild yet by any chance have you? lol Stand by for requests.
You make it sound so simple. Like all those simple bits and pieces to the skull. Simple, my foot! I couldn\'t draw a single one of those elements if you were sitting next to me telling me what to do! I repeat, you rool!
-
good job. everything looks great. I love to see when people work with layers in photoshop.
some crits for you:
the chest armor looks like a straigh wall with just that texture, well it\'s not a big thing but maybe make a little shade to look like bumps for chest/abs. same goes for rest of the armor, the textures you chose are great but it doesn\'t look like it curves if you know what i mean.
-
sashok, thank you very much for the critique, and you are very correct in your observations. Thank you for your help, as it will assist me in future works.
You haven\'t joined a guild yet by any chance have you?
I have joined Mirth as it fits with my beliefs of helping everyone that I can. Therefore, if any guild other than Mirth would like me to work on something for them, then please inquire and I\'d be glad to help!
-
Phinehas, I have attempted to do a basic sculpture of what you requested. It was just thrown together and not worked on, but if you like the general style you can suggest more to add, or you can suggest I change it in any way.
The shaft was a bit thin to craft runes into, thus I only added an inscription of runic symbols over it.
-
wow
amazing
absolutly unique and chaotic
you should work with the ps team!
no wait, you MUST work with the ps team
YOU WILL WORK WITH THE PS TEAM
-
Now that\'s what I\'m talkin\' \'bout! You and me all the way man! My ideas and your graphical/artistic abilities. Oh, but I get all the credit, ok? lol
The runic symbols are exactly what I was looking for. There are a few things that are different from what I had in mind, not meaning worse, just different. Ok, my idea had been for the blade to to be more javelin style than pike style. Y\'know more like just a dagger sticking out of the staff, very simple, and a little smaller. Both the orb and the blade should probably be smaller in fact, more in proportion with the shaft. Think about it, if that shaft\'s six feet long, then that\'s one huge orb and a very weighty blade! They just kinda take away the maneuverability of the spear.
Other\'n those things it rules. It\'s just what I\'ve been looking for, something to combine martial combat with magic. See, my ideal character, not for PS, but in general, is not a mage who walks around cloaked and hooded with a big staff with orb on top, nor is it a warrior who walks around with a sword and shield, it\'s more of an elven character: a young man, thin, tall, who is a good fighter, but also wields magic, a spear can be used like a staff in the sense of martial arts, but it\'d be more dangerous \'cause of one pointy end, and the orb in the other end means that it also can be used to cast spells, like your average magic shaft. The rune symbols are basically to show that it\'s made by a master crafter with great knowledge of the arcane. Anyway, that gives you people more of a picture of what that spear is about. I love it! I want it! It\'s my prrrrecioussss! Let\'s all give a big hand for Scobar! *applause*
-
fixed the orb and blade proportions and added more of a magical essence to the orb.
-
Now that\'s what I\'m talkin\' \'bout! *Lovingly caresses spear* \"My dream weapon...\" You da mastah smith, Scobar! Can I have this baby? I just want it on my comp to show to people, and maybe use in a sig or sumthing, \'zat ok? Oh, we really need to get this implemented in-game!
By the way, I don\'t know if you particularly care, but maybe it would be better to make the place where the blade is fixed to the handle less broad, it almost looks too big for it, but if you taper it in toward the staff or something.... Anyway, that\'s just a technicality, this spear is Totally cool!
-
its all yours for your personal use. I did make it for you. Just pm if you need a pic of it with transparent background for easier use in sigs etc...
-
Woohoo! I now have the coolest weapon ever! I looove it! Thanks man.
-
Alright! Now you just need to make an excellently stylish whip...
-
scobar,
Your stuff is really good. Please tell me someone has already talked to you about contributing to the PS team... :-)
If not, please come join us!
- Venge
-
venge - just sayed planeshift from utter doom lol :D
i want a nice big silver sleak runic bow and ill be happy :P
you got off to a bad start trying to sell your dermorian skins but now i think you have just revived yourself :)
-
Alright! Now you just need to make an excellently stylish whip...
Well I\'ve never even thought of making a whip before so this is a long shot for I don\'t know what kind of whip is stylish.
First off, I thought that whips cannot do much against extremely strong creatures, and they are semi ranged, but bring you too close to your enemy that retreat would be difficult if the situation turned bad. So I made the whip connected to a wrist bracer. That way one could wield another item in the free hand if needed. I added more damage to the whip by adding barbs to the tip to rip more. I also added a diamond dagger to the bracer in case something got within point blank range the wielder would have a more lethal weapon.
The bracer is metal covered in white tiger hide, and the tigers claw\'s stretch out the back of the bracer, and Diamonds are crafted into the whip handle/holder.
Once again, I had no idea what a stylish whip would be so this is my own original idea of one. Please be specific if you\'d like a different variation.
-
Quite stylish indeed....Love the blade...Can I have one? I\'ll give you a nice shiny quarter...er somethin\'
-
I\'m a newbie looking for the post with weapon listing and prices, i know it will take a lot of time to collect enough crystals but trust me i Have the time! I plan to become a major player of this \"game\" anyone care to help a girl out 8)
-
By the way freakin awsome whip, def want one how much would that cost me
??????
-
He\'s just making these things, they aren\'t really in the game...not yet at least...
http://planeshift.fragnetics.com/merchant/merchant.html
there\'s the merchant page...have fun now ^_^
-
That\'s such a cool staff.
If I got you right, you said it\'s a PhotoShop picture, not a 3D rendering.
Normally, I use to say: I\'m a coder not an artist. :D
Howevery, I tried to create it 3D.
I tried to do it lowpolygon but I think it\'s still too many of them.
The textureing should be redone.
Just to be on the safe side: I do not claim any copyrights ;)
-
Nice work on the 3d render. It is very well done. If you have the texture maps I can edit them, but if not, I think it looks great like that also.
-
Mine it\'s my spear! All mine! BTW nice work Aineko! The only important thing it\'s missing is the rune symbols on the shaft.
-
I removed some more polygons. now there should be something about 300 ploygons.
I removed the textures and colored it.
Would be cool if someone could make a PS weapon.spr file :D I tried it, but didn\'t succeed :(
then I could replace the galkard (or what ever) with the staff and make some really cool printscreens :D
there\'s the .3ds file http://www.freewebs.com/aineko/stab.3ds
-
you made a whiP!!!!??? awesome! I like the whip itself but the thing you made that holds it to your hand looks pretty odd.... i kinda like the old handle feel than it being permently attached to your hand. gives you more flexability and many more attacks that you can pull off. nice work though, keep it up.
-
Does anyone know how I can get that staff as a weapon sprite?
-
damn, all these weapons and armors are looking great! just wondering..... if such special weapons will be used into PS, what kind of monsters will be guarding these unique items?
or will it be more something like a giant quest taking you to all kinds of places. to search for something like pieces of keys or holy words to open the entrance to these magnificent items.
-
scobar thats some magical talent you have there, keep up the good work :)
-
Long ago, a massive civil war waged between all elves. One side wanted to practice the magic of nature and become allies with all non-evil races. The other, knowing their magical powers reached deep into the spiritforce of of even other dimensions, believed that natures petty forces should not limit them. They wanted domination of the world as they could easily have it if only their entire race agreed.
And so the war began, the high council, the most powerful mages and leaders of the elves split. 3 joined the side of the light and 7 joined the dark. The light being outnumbered and overpowered by the dark elves searched for an ally resistant to the incredible forces of the dark magic.
They found a race seemingly made of stone and agreed to a longing alliance if they would help to defeat the Dark elves. After 6 years of war, the Light elves had nearly defeated the dark, but the 7 dark council members were unmatched, so the Light Elves developed a plan to defeat them.
The Light elves trained for months in the art of deadly hunting without being noticed. This elite force called themselves rangers. When trained, the rangers saturated the forest and waited. The rest of the light elves formed for one last battle.
The 3 Light Council Members challenged the 7 Dark to enter into the final battle instead of casting spells from a safe distance, saying they were afraid of the light. The 7 Mages of the Dark elves, enraged by this challenge, accepted. The 6 elves with the most power in Dark magic sacrificed their bodies and placed their living souls within a Sacred Blade. This Blade crafted by, and wielded by the seventh Mage, gave him such power magically and physically that the Light elves faced a difficult challenge.
The seventh mage and his dark elves, outnumbered 5 to one by the Light, entered into battle. Soon, the 7th Dark council member found himself alone on the battlefield. Any attempt against him earned a quick death. It was then, that the Rangers numbering 700, protected by the race made of rock attacked. When the battle finished, the council of the light elves and their army watched as all 700 Kran and all 700 Rangers lay dead and the 7th dark mage filled with arrows and blade piercings remained alive, but very weak. Two of the Light High Council held the Dark mage as the third took the blade from his hand. The 3 cursed his soul into a gem a the bottom of the Blade to be trapped there for all eternity with the other 6. Then they decapitated the final Dark elf.
The blade remains protected by the Elven Council for the spirits of the 7 mages and their anger give the weilder incredible magical power. This sword is easily recognizable as the blade glows with heat as if it is always within a blacksmith\'s fire. This head is generated by the powerful dark magic of the 7.
The name of the Blade is:
\"Uumea Tevin\" or in English \"Hadred of Evil\"
This is a 3d model with about a 1/2 detailed texture. 218 polygons. I will make a better 2d pic of the sword to give it justice.
-
Painful trinket ;)
-
Looks really cool, I like your background stories as well.
-
I love it, but I can\'t resist playing devil\'s advocate and pointing out that in actually hand-to-hand combat, it would be very awkward. But depending on how you want the magical powers to manifest themselves, it could be very cool.
-
pretty dang cool story there scobar. although i dont completely see how he could kill 1400 kran and rangers with a blade like that. For maximum speed the barbs would need to be in the other direction. that blade would be hard to push in and easy to pull out. You need the opposite as yu can get much more power pulling out than forcing in. Also it would be cool to rip little chunklings out of someone if you had barbs the other way :P. What kind of spells was the final dark elf able to cast when he wielded the blade? please i want all the details.
-
Yeah, basically I agree with da Troll.
-
Sorry that I didn\'t go into detail of how the sword would be used. The sword is not meant to be used for physical attacks at all, which is why it looks a bit awkward for that. It is meant for a powerful sorcerer/sorceress to weild and utilyze the incredible force.
I could not place into the jpg, but the sword should be in constant flame at the blade. This flame would envelop any who the weilder intended to attack and melt their body by saturating both armor and skin, then boiling their insides with the power and hadred of the spirits within the flame.
Any weilder could only deliver such an attack by the 7 spirits by touching his opponent with the flaming blade(no physical dmg neccessary), but a mage can extend the flame up to 30 feet off of the blade. The most experienced mages can manipulate the flame to reach farther, and in larger quantities at faster speeds. The spirits would also give the mage a bonus to dark magics that the 7 Dark mages possessed.
The 7th mage who alone killed the 700 rangers and 700 kran Used the spirits in the flame with such Magic that he was able to send a flame whipping off the blade like a person made of fire charging the Kran tanks. These Flaming elementals would soar with blazing speed toward the slower krans and impact without the slightest force, but would then melt the minerals inside of them, leaving the battlefield scarred like a spent volcano.
Then the Mage, who could not see or easily attack the rangers hidden in the wilderness would cast spells, which were once disrupted by the resistant krans, that would send an evil cloud throughout an area. The area would darken as if dead, then maneuver to reveal any ranger within itself. When a ranger lost his cover, he/she would attack with every force possible against the evil habitat, and the Mage it worked for until a tree or shrub could trap the Ranger within its vines allowing for the Flaming elemental to easily envelop the poor soul. And so the Mage fought the 1400 to the death.
Hope this clears things up, and leaves less holes.
-
Scobar, your art rocks, and I love the concepts. I have a request if you\'re still taking them. I would like to see a kick ass xbow built for close combat. I don\'t know any details, its all up to you what it looks like.
-
The Story of \"Nuuruhuine Kuru\" or in English \"Wizardry\'s Death Shadow\"
Upon the defeat of the dark elves, the Elven race began anew. The high council of still only 3 members feared \"Uumea Tevin\" may not be in their possession forever, and as a safeguard ordered the finest of craftsman to join and create a weapon so powerful, it could counter the Blade.
The council agreed that a handblade with projectile capability would be the weapon built. And so the most skillful craftsmen created the crossbow. The blade is made of the strongest of flexible metals, enchanted by the elven high council to remain almost unbreakable in combat. The crossbow shoots a bolt with a tip stained with a poison that drains mana like deaths shadow drains life.
Therefore the crossbow was named as the shadow of death over magic. This crossbow existing of the strongest of metals is extremely heavy, and can only be wielded by a hero of massive strength.
If recovered from the protected treasure of the Elves, this weapon would be perfect for the lonely travelor, as they could deal massive damage at close range while also ridding mages without the need to chase them. Thus a single tank could efficiently wipe out an entire party of opponents.

I hope you like it Camika.
-
Lovely lil wep there scobar, nice balance and so on
(post the consept scetches sometime 2 :) )
I\'m allso curious how you get your metalic look going on your items
ty ty and once again lovely work
-
for the metallic look use a grey tone for the shape, and use the following in \"Blending Options\"
Bevel & Emboss
-Structure-
default for all, but change technique to chisel hard or soft
-Shading-
Switch between the Gloss Contours and see what works best.
Other than that, just work with the light angle, the color of shading, and the size and depth to create the look you want.
-
(http://upl.silentwhisper.net/uplfolders/upload0/xbowwip.jpg)
Do you have a larger version of that bow? It\'s hard to see some of the details on it. I was thinking of adding a melee-crossbow for my game, but couldn\'t think of a design. That is really cool though. It\'s not finished, but I want to see a better quality image so I know what needs modeled and what can be textured, since it\'s already pushing up to 292 tris. If you want to you can try to paint a texture onto it when it\'s done, I\'ll do the UV mapping.
-
Cool ty for the heads up on the metal layer blending property, seems I was doing it but snce I work on large canvases (few thousand by a few thousand) it just kinda darkened it.. :P
figured it though you gotta increase the values relative to your pic, that may be of use to you if you do the big pic thing at some point... either or :)

The Gumster, 6 souls entered the blade, and the 7th was cursed into the red gem at the bottom of the handle.
Wedge that looks like a good render, I will do a texture if you map it.

Ok the bow is 314 tris and the arrow 26, so it totals 340. I\'ll take that much given the complexity of the model. Unless you say I\'m missing anything really important here, Ima start working on the UV mapping when I get back home tonight.

nice. All I can say to add is a small hold that the string can rest behind.
also. If you can animate, you might want to do the simple animation of the back lever pulling back and the string hold dropping and the string quickly thrusting the bolt off of the xbow.
Regardless of if you do an animation or not, I\'ll texture the map for you

Many ages ago, a mythical creature roamed the peaceful land. As Legions of evil forces flowed into the land over time, the creature showed it\'s powerful defense toward evil. The creature brought safety throughout the land by illuminating the darkness, and killing evil forces in mass numbers with incredible magical spells. The land was populated by many cities, and they remained protected. One day the best weaponsmith of the land was deep in sleep when the leader of these mythical creatures approached him. The creature gave the weaponsmith its primary source of magic, its horn. The Leader told the weaponsmith that their time in this land was over, they would be moving to another place far away.
Their departure would invite evil back into the land and the peaceful cities would have limited defense. The Leader told the weaponsmith to craft a blade to be weilded by the most powerful mage, using the horn of magic. This mage would become the protector of the land. The Leader also told the weaponsmith to craft the runic symbol for the word Scobar, which meant \"the Opression of Evil\" in the language of the land, into the blade.
The Weaponsmith awoke from his dream and found the horn in his hand. He crafted the blade out of his most prized materials: Azure Shards (said to have been from the Great Azure Crystal itself) were crafted into the blade. A flawless diamond crafted into the handle brace. And the Magical horn stretched out the back of the blade as a handle. A golden polished alloy of the strongest steel in the land create the handle brace, and the blade is crafted from a secret alloy discovered by the weaponsmith. It is both the most durable and light-weight metal in the land.
When finished with the incredible weapon, the smith placed it upon a pedestle awaiting the correct mage to redeem the power source. It has been said that the weapon will not allow itself to be weilded by one whose heart is tainted by even the slightest bit of evil.
It is unknown how the word for the runic symbol actually sounded, but Traveling storytellers of a different language named the symbol \"Scobar\" as a strong resemblance to those letters in their alphabet created the shape of the blade.

Wow! That\'s exactly the type of thing I would want for a crossbow. Thank you, that looks perfect! Very well done on Scobar\'s Blade too. I couldn\'t imagine the difficulty of designing anything using letters like that. Once again, your concepts are amazing!
Looking forward to seeing more from you.

I did the model, mapping, rigging, and animation. Scobar did the texture, or in other words, all the work.
Final count says 338 tris inluding arrow.

Oh yeah, Scobar wanted a couple shots of it being used in-game too. Haven\'t gotten the reflection effect working yet, but it doesn\'t look that good in a screenshot anyway:

BEST FLAIL EVER! 8)
-
A demon by the name of Brack?Fel long ago sought to rule over the Hell Dimension. He gathered to him an army of the damned; an army of only the most disfigured and malevolent. His armies rode forth and stole Hell nation by nation from the arch-demons, who were forced to retreat again and again.
One Night during his campaign of horror he saw a meteor scorch across the sky and land in the mountains of Naarkh Garth, taking it to be a sign he left behind his men and set out in pursuit of the fiery rock alone. A week later he found its resting place, as he entered the crater the rock spoke to him, soothed him, and lured him in like a siren. As he got closer he saw the meteor itself; it was bright crimson and twisted in such a way that it seemed to drain all life from the world. He felt it; at first it burnt with an unholy heat and seemed to suck his own warped soul from him. The heat passed, the rock was cool now, and yet Brack?Fel could still sense its evil, its deadliness.
He brought the rock back to his army?s camp; he forged it into a flail and dubbed it The Crimson Pain. It was his; it would wreak havoc upon his enemies and be a weapon worthy of his sadism. Brack?Fel won his campaign, and for 300 years the flail haunted him, gave him strength and made his rule all the more painful for the conquered.
Until, 300 years after winning his campaign, an angel by the name of Maya slew Brack?Fel in a duel above the Vortex; a mystical maelstrom linking all the dimensions. Maya cast the Crimson Pain into the Vortex where it fell through the dimensions into Yliakum, buried beneath a crooked oak it lay dormant for 100 years.
However one summer?s morning after an almighty storm the oak was uprooted, and a small crimson spike poked through the soil. A young Ylian by the name of Zephyrus chanced upon the oak, and its crimson secret.
And so it came to pass that for the past 10 years The Crimson Pain has served the rugged mercenary, who earned the title Bloodsaint by his weapon?s spiked wrath. Little does he know the dark history of his prized possession or what powers it truly holds.

Good job man. You are getting all those shadows to look realistic and awesome. I hope some of them will be used in game.

Well done on that model Wedge. That looks sweet! Also, a nice flail Scobar. Zephyrus, I like the story to your flail. Great work everyone!
