Title: Golby's portrait
Post by: Golbez on February 04, 2004, 11:39:03 pm
To continue the trend of submitting PlaneShift Fan Art, I will link you people to a file of mine uploaded to my Geocities account, since linking it directly will not work, you have to copy/paste, bleh! And the URL is case sensitive too.

Internet Explorer seems to reduce the size of the image to fit your screen. The reduction does, indeed, deform the artwork. Opera shows it as it is, and I *think* Mozilla and Netscape do so too. I have not checked.

Sketch of Golbez (http://www.geocities.com/golbez_rg/sketch1.JPG)

Anyway, keep in mind that I sketched this a few months ago in, maybe 20 minutes, as I was talking to my brother and watching TV. Shadowing is non-existant, so do not criticise the shading, as I have not even bothered in working on it yet ;)

I may, or may not clean up the lineart, and colour it with PhotoShop. However, I do quite enjoy the pencil sketchy feeling, and would dread to ruin it.

Note also that the cloak is way to big and loose for the Enkidukai, so it is not even close to hugging his silhouette. That is why he may appear to look more muscular than he really is.

Criticise at will. I know there are a few flaws that need correction, but I will be cantankerous enough to have an explanation for each and every one of them ;)

And I just now noticed that I did not sign it. I usually do so with my name in Tengwar.

Oh, and one final note. Just to play safe, my artwork is mine and only mine :D Only I choose when, where and how it is reproduced, spread, shown, modified, etcetera. And noone else but me is entitled to work on it. So if you want to colour it, finish it, touch it here and there, so you can use it as an avatar, or on your site. PM me first, let me know, and I may or may not agree. We shall see! ;)

For those of you who are not familiar with this feature of Internet Explorer, here\'s how it works:

When you try to load an image directly (for example, clicking a link directly to a .jpg or .gif file) and the image is bigger than the window, IE will by default resize the image to fit inside the window.

However, if you simply hover your cursor over the image, a few buttons will appear on the top-left of the image after a second.  If you continue to hover, a large icon will then appear in the bottom-right corner of the image after another second or so.  Press this button to return the image to its 1:1 size, and enable the scrollbars for you to pan the image.

Hope this helps! :)

Ah! Thank you, Xandria!

This proves how little I like Internet Explorer. I did not even know of such a basic and intuitive feature. ;)

Nice muzzle. I have a thing for muzzles ;P The perspective of the left weapon is a little odd (comparing the hilt to the top of the blade), but it\'s a sketch so that\'s alright ;) Nice capture of emotion.

Another feature you may not know about is you can turn off the resizing in Internet Explorer.  (Mine was turned off... I almost forgot IE normally resizes things).

Just go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced Tab and uncheck Enable Automatic Image Resizing

Nice pic btw :)

No geocities doesn\'t allow remote linking, copy+paste the URL in your browser (don\'t use the window opened by the forum however).
