well firstly i would like to seem some sort of fog or view distance because without it the big forests and stuff like that will be worse than when you stand on a hill and look at town :S
more of a help out my fps suggestion lol
secondly arnt you just tired of the strongest monster in the game being a/or some sort of dragon
i personally would prefer something like a balrog
im not talking about those punny diablo balrogs i mean the giant flaming demons from the abyss balrog from lord of the rings
i would also like the strongest monster to have to be teamed up on by at least 4 people to stand a chance
and now maybe parties
like you can temporarily team up with someone and the exp is shared between all party members aslong as they all help out
guild members should automatically party up with eachother if they are within the same area
but this would be able to be cancelled by making your self a solo person in the party menu
i would also like to see the ability to use torches and they would be needed for dark caves
now this ones a biggy
community made towns (well sorta)
ok it goes like this: there would be some half build houses lying out in the middle of nowhere and players would be able to take wood and stone to the town to help it develope and also maybe provide hard labour for a reward when the town is build :D
but of cause the devs would have completed the town beforehand
i would also like to see utility magic or potions where you can use them to make ou fly, jump higher, shrink, stronger, faster and all those other useful little things to have ;)
well there goes a weeks worth of thinking lol

Please use the (http://www.planeshift3d.com/wbboard/images/ps/top_suche.gif) (http://www.planeshift3d.com/wbboard/search.php?boardid=11 ) button if you think something has already been posted, instead of just saying \"oh well\" and wasting some of our forum space. :P
Anyway:
Fog may already be implemented in CB.
Monsters will be completely unique to PS, so you won\'t see dragons OR balrogs.
Partying has, of course, already been considered and implemented in CB.
Players will be able to construct all sorts of buildings and items. Even a guildhouse, if they have enough resources for it.
Such potions have been thought through. The NR (New Renderer) and skeletal animation systems that have been implemented allow for such things as Shrinking potions, for example.

Oh sure you should be able to team up on the biggest mobs, but if you want to be legendary, you take them down alone... That should however, require countless of years worth of training, just to be able to do something which near this. You don\'t become a legend in a month. :)

The search button is dead. The forums are going to be dead soon, i suppose. *sigh* But anyways why does everyone think there will be generic monsters like dragons and stuff. they are so *yawn* boring. If I wanna slay a monster I\'ll go play NWN....
-
The search button has been dead for ages.. just use the search field on the bottom of each forum, that one works..
I like the idea of torches, dunno if that\'s been discussed already. well, there\'s not that much to discuss about torches :P
The idea of abandoned villages in the middle of nowhere sounds good to me too. You would go there with a party, after a few weeks of traveling through nowhere, and then start rebuilding an old village there, send some people back to get even more people. a bit like colonisation. In the end you would have rebuilded the complete city, maybe get some NPC\'s in. and then you can go on, to find some more abandoned towns.

whoa. THAT i like.

Good idea with the abandoned towns. Could end up, if RPd correctly, developing into guild controlled towns and districts, with the guild controlling prices and taxes in the town, as well as controlling spawn points. Fortifying the town/keep in question would be a great addition, along with the potential for guild wars and town/keep assaults. Would also bring assasins and spys more to a useful function rather than an RP affectation.
For instance, Guild X controls the town of Waterdeep. Guild Y wants to control the town because it lays directly outside a particularly valuable dungeon and Guild Y wants first shot at taxing the things coming out of the dungeon, as well as controlling prices of potions and healing services. Guild Y sends a spy into the city who\'s mission it is to scout out the defences and, if possible, assasinate ranking officials. The spy would have a percentage chance based on skill to impersonate someone in Guild X each time they encounter someone. If the spy succeeds in assassinating an individual, the assasinated person cannot spawn in the town under siege, but must walk to backup his guildmates, the same holding true for any memebers of Guilds X or Y who die in the assault. Control is maintained by Guild X until Y has occupied it for some amout of time, say 1 day IRL. (Occupied meaning holding a particular building in the town or the complete abscence of any memebers of Guild X) Open towns could be taken over with little effort. Major towns should never come under the influence of a single guild, only the satelites.
Other than the huge scope of this idea, does anyone else see any problems with it?
-
Thinking further, this could also mean tht guilds would have official friends and enemies; guild friends would not have to pay the additional taxes in a town and guild enemies would not be able to spawn in a guild\'s town. Neutral characters would be ambivalent to this inter-guild rivalry and would be able to spawn in a town and use it\'s services, for a price. Also, NPC guards in a town would be expected to attack an enemy guild memeber found within the confines of the town.
In order to get more attention and feedback on this specific development of the towns & guilds idea, i\'m going to start a thread in the wish list forum for it... please post relevant ideas there.

You have just invented ShadowBane (http://www.shadowbane.com), which has been almost a complete failure.
Congratulations.

ouch, if that\'s true... it\'s a big mistake, I\'ve heard shadowbane is just bad. they rushed the game. But which concepts exactly do you speak of vengeance? Which of them did Syzerian mention?

It could be towns that one person on and then i take taxes frome to people that live inside the walls and outside its monsters. And when the \"king\" in the town want to live a diffrent life he can sell it to antother player! That would be great!!
-
Guilds owning towns.
Guilds fighting other guilds for towns.
Paying taxes to build up town.
Friend/Enemy Guilds
All Shadowbane.
-
But are those the reasons that Shadowbane is so bad?
I actually think those ideas are good and I wouldn\'t mind seeing something along those lines being implemented in PS.

I agree :D
Shadowbane as I understood it is very inefficient game, lags and pretty much still in development. But if PS changes the ideas to something unique, it could definately work.
I just don\'t like the idea of guilds fighting towns owned by other guilds, that is too much like other games including shadowbane. But I think the idea of abandoned villages that you can work at, help build and find shelter at is great idea.

nah i disagree with your guys. i would trust a faceless government to rule my every move, than trust guilds and and real people to rule me. there has to be some sort of set government in place. people are just too corupt. especially ones on the internet. like me... *cries in own pity*
-
Well first off the government is going to be player run anyway...they\'ve been saying that for a longtime. Second of all not every city would be run by a guild. And thirdly not everyone is corrupt just as not everyone in real life isn\'t corrupt.
Besides they could have a system set up where if you don\'t run the city right then it affects the guild running, maybe their reputation.
-
i seriously doubt the devs will let the 8 highest octarchs rule ylakium, i mean cmon... but the inner and outer circle will no doubt in my mind, be played by real users. But the people that make most of the descisions and rule over all is of course the 8 octarchs THE GOVERNMENT. so therefore the government will be rulled by the devs and not users. So there would be a faceless goverment just like i want.
-
I think would be a fun and controversial (fun) idea to implement. I\'ll think about how to control votes somewhat.
Posted by Venge in a thread about this exact same thing. Talking about how players could be elected to run whole cities.[/COLOR]
-
yes but the point is the highest point of government wont be player run. The highest point has the power to stop anything and everything from happening. Sure people can be elected to vote in planeshift, but thier votes are going to be nothing compared to the power of the 8 octarchs, and thats what i want to happen.
-
The whole point was we were talking about players and guilds being able to run cities of their own and have to take care of them....
And as a matter of clarification I went back and read a thread that stated that the devs and \"high-level\" players will be allowed to be elected to the 8 highest positions. But as I said, that wasn\'t what we were discussing...
