Did you update any of your drivers in the last week?
If so, it may be the problem.

Hey, I am just going to really say... Erec, the reason you start out badly is probably because your internet connection... If you EVER notice with most Dial-up servers, when you first start out a download or an upload, it bursts forward with all the speed it can handle, then get worse and worse from there, and by the end, you wish you had never messed with it in the first place.

As for Footpunker, there could be a few things wrong in your download, psclient.cfg...  And many other things... Whats your internet connection?  When you connect to the server, does it actually get to the loading screen?  If so, is it froozen or does it actually CRASH?  What operating System are you running in?  We need system specs out the darn yin yang for anyone to help you out correctly.  Thanks, but once you post that, I will probably see what I can do... But answer these questions first. You may have already said them, but I may have over looked them.

Questions:
What OS (Operating System) are you running on?

Have you tampered you psclient.cfg, planeshift.cfg, sfc.cfg, or anything other configuration file or exe file such as pssetup.exe?

What is your internet connection?

Have you downloaded PS from someone who has tampered the files stated above or any other configuration files?

TempestBloodClaw, as long as you here the music playing, then the world is loading...  Your proc is kind of slow... I am running on a 1.1 and it takes me almost 2 minutes to load.  As for it lagging bad in the beginning that can be your internet connection, you may not have much HD space, you may have programs running in the background, you may have all of these happening infact. Anyways, let me ask you a few questions

Amount of Hard Drive Space Total/Used/Free? (ALL 3 please)

Whats your VCard and its meg intake?

Whats your internet connection?

Ok then see your hard drive most likely has a slow speed to it that and your graphics card probably doesn\'t meet the system requirements.  I myself also run with a 32 meg, and it takes an extremly long time to load up for me too... Umm... If you would just wait it out, then you could probably play.

As for bettering your system, I am going to post a tweak system here soon on how to tweak your game to make it work to the best of its ability, even though it may not look or sound like the greatest.

Footpunker, go back through and read my posts.... There is information you have left out that will help us severly.  Anyways, it just sounds like you have lagging at the start, and not crashing... If you still hear the music playing, or it still SHOWS the screen, then you aren\'t crashed...  If it crashes then it is going to bring up a Load Error for Win 95/98 and for Win ME/XP it will bring up the Send Error Message.  Thats when you know the program has actually TRULY crashed.  Past that, you just aren\'t being patient enough to let the world load... I have a good computer and it takes me anywhere from 1-5 minutes to load the world totally...
