First of all, I found this site some weeks ago, and just can say WOW.
A very impressiv project. I looked around ingame and on the hp, and for that early stage... wow, simply amazing, great.
here is a monster I did for PS, the gegarin :
The Gegarin:
Difficulty level: noob monster, easy to kill
Physical Attack: fangs and claws
Magical Attack: none
Nutrition: omnivorous
Intelligance: very low
Hitpoints: very low
packsize: 3 to 7 individuals
Descibtion:
A gegarin has the size of an average dog or a wolf, and like those it is hunting in packs. Gegarins prefer to live around shallow lakes or streams, and are hardly able to swim.
As an omnivorous, the gegarin, is eating nearly everything: plants, carrion, small animals, humans... Due to its low intelligance gegarin packs are attacking also travellers and animals wich are too strong for them to kill. Gegarin packs are normally fighting to their death, evan agains a strong enemy.
But the gegarin\'s biggest disadvantage are their poor instincts. A gegarin can\'t see or hear very good, only his sense of smell is a bit better. Thanks to that fact a gegarin will never attack a traveller. Unless this traveller would come too near, the gegarin pack simply wouldn\'t notice him.
Seems thats all... hm... hope you like it ^^

All I can say is wow. You are a very gifted artist. Just curious though, have you joined the PS team?
-
looks great :)
I\'d like to see that transformed to 3d :))
-
Very nice work! The art is amazing, and the concepts are also great. I look forward to seeing more of your talent.
-
WOW, that looks great. Cant wait to see t ingame :)
-
Its SO COOL! IMHO, best PS fanart ever made!
-
Sorry to add nothing to the global amazement but:
WOW :)
-
Yes its very coll...cant wait to kill some of them :)
-
Great detail in that drawing! I\'m amazed! :o
I think you\'ve drawn monsters for games and such more often, seeing the way in which you drew the monster in different poses and from different perspectives.
-
very spiffy and as said done nicely for conversion to a game model
have u subitted this to the Laanx wheel of wishes?... thats prolly the best way to get it ingame
-
really, that\'s just amazing.. 8o
You could try and contact the devs on irc, or submit it to the Laanx\' Wheel of Wishes (http://lww.demon-host.com) . they still need some 2d art to be done :)
-
Always wondered how some people are able to create something like that.. It\'s just beautiful, (although the creature itself isn\'t;)) The describtion is nice too, suits him very well. And yes I think too that you might have a place in the PS team.
-
@ Nanaki:
You said the Gegarin was very unintelligent, but on 1 picture it is holding a spear. So either it got it of the corps of a newbie that they killed ;), or it made the spear itself, in which case it would be fairly intelligent. ?(
-
Do you do this for a living because if you aren\'t you should start, that is just wow! My mom is sitting here at the moment talking to me about my car and she took a glance at it and said wow did you draw that marc and i wanted to take credit but said no lol! She is amazed and she hates video games i play :)
-
hey, thanks vor all that comments, nice to see you like my work :)
I submited it to the LWW, but it seems the descibtion is too long, it always becomes cut in the half... and without linebreaks it looks quite confusing ^^
About the spear:
Gegarins don\'t craft spears. They sometimes use pointed pices of wood to hunt fish in the shallow water (or they use their hands).
The stonespear in the picture has a very simple reason: When I made the first scetches the gegarin hold a pointed stick, but after finishing I recognized that it almost look like a magic wand ^^? After some hours working I was to leasy to change his whole arm, so I added a stone at the end of the stick.
I\'m not doing it for a living nor I ever have drawn monster for games bevor. At the moment I\'m still at school, perhaps I will have a try after I finished it. :)
Joining the PS team... perhaps
I want to do some other drawings for PS first, at the moment I don\'t have so many pictures to show to them. In some weeks I could have enough for a try ^^ I guess, I will manage it to do some new drawings in the next days to make a start.

I voted for your lww submission, really looking forward to seeing more of your art :]
-
indeed, very nice, i can only envy your gift !
kinda reminds me of gollem (LOTR) lol :-)
-
nanaki ... if u apply to the ps team u can become a WTB member (want-to-be member)... this is designed so the devs can make sure u r the sort of person they want on the team... but it may also give u a chance to see if being in the team is right for u
i reckon if u and someone good at chracter modeling team up we r gonna get a game with some of the best graphics ever seen :P
-
Yeah, it does look like Gollum. lol
Dude, if that\'s a weak monster, I\'m gonna go hide under my bed for a while. lol I don\'t even wanna see your definition of a strong monster.
NICE artwork, I\'m very impressed.
-
Me likey likey the art, compositions lovely ans the colouring is just superb :)
-
*drools*
...more please...
;)
-
Finally finished a new monster, but to say the truth, I don\'t like it so much. Drawing is okay, the outlines are smoother than last time, fur textur doesn\'t look so bad, but the monter itself turn out quite boring...
It always bored me that every monster in nearly every game I played had to be uglier/scarier/misshapter than the other. But the try to do a some kind of \"good looking\" monster failed ^^ (Guess combinating a Lion with a long neck and a horse head, wasn\'t such a good idea -.-?)
Well, here is it, the Nimes:
The Nimes
Difficulty level: very difficult, perhaps group necessary to kill
Physical Attack: horns
Magical Attack: blue and white way
Nutrition: herbivorous (chokara-fruits)
Intelligance: high
Hitpoints: high
defence: medium to high
familysize: 3 to 5 individuals
loot: nimes\' horns
Descibtion:
Nimes\' are peaceful giants wich lives together in small family groups. Isolated from humens or other races they affect steppes with high grass and chokara-trees. Grass and chokara-fruits are also their main foodsource, nimes\' are never attacking animals or humans if not attacked first. You can come very close to them without danger to be attacked.
They are highly intelligance and have an average sozial structur in their pack. Due to the fact that nimes\' have very short legs they never flee when attacked, instead they prefer to fight close together. Packmembers support each other using healing spells. Nimes rarely use physical attacks, they mainly use blue and white magic to beat their enemies.
A single person attacking a nimes\' family has no chance to win. A greater group of skilled hunters is necessery to bring a nimes\' pack down - and it is worth the danger. Nimes\' horns are used as rare ingredients in potions, and they can be sold at a very high price.
It is always boring hunting down monsters alone, and monsters rarly work together. I guess nimes\' hunt can be quite interesting and highly lucrativ, if someone can stand it killing some peaceful but strong aninals.

U are one hell of an artist !!!
i\'m a fan of yours already !!
keep it up, i\'m sure we all want to see more of this !
thumbs up for Nanaki !
-
WOA! Great agin! cO.Ol style. Keep goin!
I know im repeating myself.
-
It looks great again!

Maybe because you only use shades of brown....Just a tought.

The art in this forum is getting better and better every day, really amazing this piece of art 8o
Really, if you have some time, pay a visit to the dev channel, I\'m sure they are interested in a talent like this :]
-
And you said you don\'t like it?! Show us something you *do* like...*dies again*
-
Awesome. I especially love the last one, turning it\'s back. How about more variety with poses next time you decide to make studies? ;) The last one was just sitting down, but I would -love- to see its body stretched to full length.
-
GREAT! OMFG! As a matter of fact it isn\'t that ugly... It looks a big dragon-ish. If it wasn\'t for the horns \'n spikes it would make a nice pet. :)
Keep up the good work man! A lot of artists would kill to be able to draw like that. 8o
-
OMG !
I just noticed the man drawn next to it, lol
so they\'re so big huh ?
NICE !
-
Wow, the nimes looks great to!!
Would be great if one day we could train them and even ride them. Because of there high intelligence it should be possible.
-
An absolutely wonderful piece of art! If it wasn\'t so \"small\" it would remind me of a dragon, but with a more unique touch.
The front-picture makes it look dangerous and proud, while the lower right seen from behind makes it look innocent and cute. It really shows that this is a creature of peace, but that it shouldn\'t be taken lightly. PS answer to unicorn perhaps? :)
-
Awesome and original, like I said before if you aren\'t making money from your artwork maybe you should start to!!
-
Very good. I agree with you that there\'s no point in doing monster uglier and uglier.
I want this one as pet :) - he\'s too cute to kill it :D
-
*blink blink* wow.. very nice monsters.. i really like the style they are drawn in..
(haven\'t been here in a while.. lots of reading to do.. heh)
-
Nothing new to my post...WOW!!
I bet that isn\'t new...
But...I WILL OWN THOSE MONSTERS, THEY WILL PARISH TO ME. Can\'t wait to fight them....
-
LOL Parish!!! LOL Try \"perish\" and, umm... no offense, but that bigun\' would thrash you.
NICE PICTURES!!!! I like the way they\'re drawn, but maybe you should consider using a different color.
-

Definitely not, this sand color gives the sketch a scroll look. Scrolls (especially Magical) roxxxors !! :P

What kind of paper is that? Could you tell me where it can be found, because I have never seen art paper like that.
-
sweet flaming monkeygods thats a lovely piece youve done there,
the composition, the spatial sense you show by the use of multiple angles on your subject and the use of texture in both the work itself(the fur) and the background make for a very involving pic, you sure have done the practice and aquired the skills
and I wouldnt worry about it being boring, remember that exitement and boredom are all about context, you can easily show that by using your subject in the \"non-boring\" situation giving it more life
put simply its a nice piece, just cut loose a little more next time and you may be happier with your work,
alternately of course you could be fishing for compliments, in which case this my boy is a bumber harvest:P
-
thanks for all suggestions and comments :)
my next one will have more variety with poses and coloration^^
about the paper... thats a bit difficult :P
Its name is \"FoxRiver Confetti Paper\", I wasn\'t able to find it in Austria... don\'t know perhaps you can\'t get it in europa (my aunt bought it in L.A. two years ago)... if you can find it some where you could tell me... I have been searching for a year now.
... and I\'m female, Kintall^^? argh... I know I\'m not very good at finding names... Nanaki don\'t sound very female, huh? I hope I don\'t have to find much more names in the future.
Nanaki
-
Ahh I see, Gender duly noted and my apologys Madam. and as it happens I have an odd request: would you scan just a blank peice of that paper in as I\'d love to use it too but I\'m a photoshop kinda guy
if you do then thankyou, if not well thankyou anyway :)
-
How the durna do you create sometihng like this???
Photoshop? (I have photoshop but that would be pretty difficult :S)
-
She drew it. :P Untalented people like me have to rely on things like Photoshop.
-
... and I\'m female, Kintall^^? argh... I know I\'m not very good at finding names... Nanaki don\'t sound very female, huh? I hope I don\'t have to find much more names in the future.
Correct me if I\'m wrong...isn\'t that name from FF7? That was Red XIII\'s name right?
Anyway....doesn\'t matter what name you have, the talent is still grand![/COLOR]
-
the name... hm... don\'t know his orgin ^^?
some month\' ago a friend of mine and I want to draw a comic, he want to do the story and I should do the drawing work. Nanaki was the Name of our main charakter. But we seperated shortly afterwards and so the name was never used... Due to the fact that I\'m not so lucky with remembering/finding names I simply used this one.
I played FF7 some years ago but i didn\'t tought of it until you told me... but I guess you are right, it was Red IX name.
to the drawings:
I use scaned pencil-drawings and color them in photoshop... You could also ink the outlines of the drawing bevor scaning - takes much time if it should look good, but sometimes looks more professional. Works quite good if you want to draw amphibic skin, but if you are doing fure a pencil drawing is enough...
Nanaki
-
finally finished a new work...
in the last days I made my way through the hp and parts of the forum (who the hell is writting those tons of posts? i will never be able to read evan the half of them...^^?)
I love the idea with the eight grades and the stalactite - very unique.
Due to the fact that merchants have to transport goods from one level to an other, I tought it would be nice to have mounts to transport them. I know, there are flying animals, but they are quite expensiv, there could also be some less expensiv one. My first tough was that the animal would have to climbe very well so it would be able to came save from one level to the next without crossing too many caves. I first had the idea to draw something lizzard like wich would be able to climbe walls, but than i noticed that it would be impossible to programm... So I decided to do something mountain goat/chamoise like wich could simply jump very well, and very save over narrow gullys and so on.
And here it is, my chamoise-horse, the Marekii:
more color and more different poses...
and a new drawing style i\'m working on, not as good as my old one in the moment but he will become better:)
The Marekii
Difficulty level: easy
Physical Attack: hoofs
Magical Attack: none
Nutrition: herbivorous
Intelligance: low to medium
Hitpoints: medium
defence: low
agility:very high
tame difficulty: low to medium
herdsize: 5 to 8 individuals
loot: fure
Descibtion:
In ancient times the marekii was brought to Yliakum by demorian nomads who used them as mounts on their travells. Although the marekki were foreign to Yliakum they fast established themself as useful mounts and today there are many marekii herds to be found in the countryside.
Untamed Marekiis are shy, and their four eyes help them to discover humens who try to come near them. Marekiis aren\'t very agressiv, they normaly flee if they are attacked. When forced to fight they conter staying on their back hand hitting the enemie with their sharp hoofs. For someone who want to tame a marekki not only the taming skill is required also there is a need to be good in sneaking to come near enough. Taming itself is not so hard to do.
Marekki are nativ to mountain areas and stepps. They have the intelligance of an average itelligant dog, and are very loyale to their owner. An aldut Marekii is able to jump 3 meters (118,2 inch) high and up to 7 meters(275,8 inch) in lengh, if it is skilled, well trained, and only carry light weight (like a small person).
Marekiis are never used in battle, their defens is much to low to be a help for its owner. The only advantage of a marekki is his high agility wich make it hard for their enemy to hit them, and its ability to jump. Marekiis are mainly used by merchants who carry less goods and aren\'t able to pay a guard for their goods.
I always liked pets in rps, altough I don\'t like it to see them used in battle too much. Many people think of them like a third sword, wich is able to be replaced after fight...
I tried to make the job of an tamer a bit more interesting, using the sneaking skill. That shouldn\'t be required for every animal but I think it is a nice addition also for hunters if the animal runs away. I don\'t think a rabbit should strike back if missed it with my first hit... if it would run away it could still be killed with a bow.
what do you think?
well, guess that was all...
Nanaki
-
Lovely ! way better than my paint-rideable creatures :-D
-
Don\'t you ever stop drawing, ever! Your work is simply amazing! 8o
Keep drawing and designing animals. And to the devs: you\'d better read this thread! X(
-
Very Well Done Nanaki! Your style is awesome and Your concepts match your high level of quality in your art. You are a very skillful artist my lady.
-
very very beautifull work. Now lets hope it will be in CB
-
Awesome agin! 8o
What more can i say? Can\'t wait for your next work!
-
Quite a nice creature there, once again your doing the fur wonderfully and the composition is streight out of a nature docco,
and dont forget to try things outside your normal range of skills, it keeps you improving it does :)
-
Your works in a whole league of its own, by far the best art ive designs ive seen in a long time.
I would love to see a full pice by someone with your skill, with creatures in a full enviroment.
-
I\'m not sayin anything that hasn\'t been said already, but great drawings! :)
-
Absolutely fantastic! I hope the devs are paying attention to this.
-
What can I say, very nice work Nanaki, there isn\'t one thing I dont like in any of your drawings. They are simple and original :D Very cool.
-
That is absolutely marvelous! I love your art as well as the concept. Your art looks so real and alive, and the second picture was so good I stared at it for five minutes before I came back to my senses.
I hope you make a wallpaper sometime, because that would be really neat.
-
zephry.... :P
Wow pretty nice art work iw ould like to say its inspirational but it so far out strips any thing ican do ive snaped my pencil in two and given up on drawing
-
still alive and back at work^^
was a bit occupid with school and other stuff, make me work evan more slow than usually.
Well... not too much to say about it... I like to colors but i wasn\'t so lucky with body position.
The woman is a Demorian elve, the mount in the background is a marekii again... was too lazy to do the conceptart for a new one.
Next picture will be some kind of ugly monster again...those peacefull fluffys become a bit boring after a while...
Nanaki
-
one word...Whoa..your work is simple amazing do you do it for a living? if you dont you should..love your art work..
-
Yes. It\'s great but the pose seems to be pretty unnatural
-
It\'s all amazing work. About the last creature, the horse, I suggest you change more than just ears and eyes, it looks too much like a real horse. Of course maybe that\'s what you are going for, but can you try to come up with a horse for PS that would look totally original?
-
there are more diffrences than only the eyes and the ears, like tail, nose and hoofs... but you are right, looks too much like a real horse.
Main goal was a combination between chamoise and horse with some own elements... a mountain animal wich would be able to climbe and jump high and save... I guess I over did the idea ^^?
Next mount will be more original, I promise :) Have already somehing nice in mind
-
you already posted a new creature a week ago, how did I miss it :/
Anyways, great art again, I really love it :))
One thing though, the planeshift settings are supposed to be really dark, so I\'m not sure if the current creatures might fit in good. try looking at some stuff at the main site to see what I mean, the trepor etc. for example are really a lot different then the usual rpg monsters.
-
great work, but i dont suppose you\'ll do any wallpapers? \'cause that\'d be really cool and i would definitely use it. i think you should make the horse creature a little smaller \'cause i think then it would be able to climb steeper hills. i think. anyways, great work, wish i was such a skillful arist ;( cheers.
PS. can\'t wait to see them creatures in PS.
-
wallpaper hm?
I tought of doing one... the only thing is... it would be a quite big picture, wich takes quite long to finish.
The last one is not that big, but it already took me ~15 hours to make it.
One day I have enough time I will do one, perhaps i have the time in the easter holidays, don\'t know yet...
-

whoa! Logical, sentance, words, comprehend, ...um... good.
That really is amazing, outstanding, 10/10, A++
Love seing your work and would be great to see even more.
-
was a bit lazy in the last two weeks but here is my new pic. I guess it fits better into the \"dark\" backgoundsetting of ps ^^ (altough i found the setting not that dark myself - mainly becourse of the sunny atmosphere and the appletrees ig) :P
(http://img30.photobucket.com/albums/v91/byakko/fantasy/Garek.jpg)
The Garek
Difficulty level: medium to above average
Physical Attack: fangs
addition:poison
Magical Attack: none
Nutrition: carnivorous
Intelligance: low
Hitpoints: low
defence: high
groupsize: loner
loot: Garek\'s tongue, leather
Jarith Lily
plant typ: herb
habitat: 4. level near streams
occurrence: rare
usage: together with other ingredients it is used for different poisonous potions
Descibtion:
The Garek is a strong hunter who mainly live on the 5. level. Unlike many animals he kills more pray as he is able to eat and hunts everything from the size of a cat to a horse. Thanks to his thick leather skin it is hard to kill him, but also make the Garek quite slow.
The reason why the Garek is really dangerous, is his poisonous bite, wich can cause fiver and different deseases. But altough it is dangerous to hunt Gareks, their poison is the main reason for killing them. Theire tongues are used in different poison potions, often together with a plant called Jarith Lily and other herbs.
-
well let me be the first to say, Nice work indeed, the monster itself is very original, its utterly out of this world, yeat easy to imagine it moving, and the skin texture it nice and rough
lovely
perhaps we will see more in future I hope?
-
Nanaki\'s back! :D *cheers*
So Nanaki have you talked to the devs yet about using your monster ideas in the game? The Garek really fits in with the other monsters that we\'ve seen in the teaser movie.
-
I was searching for a good free irc programm for weeks... since i\'m using a mac with OS 9 not such a easy thing, but now i gave up... :/ I will use one of the progs i found
I\'m going to talk to the devs today...
-
great work nanaki *applaudes*
out of five stars i give you

Incredible art as usual Nanaki. I really hope the devs accepts you into the team.
Good luck :)
-
stealing their shoes, mh ? ;) very evil indeed :D
but I don\'t think you will have to, I already got a task and if I finish it well I will become WTB :) so its up to me, I guess ;)
thx again for all your kind comments, always nice to see that people are interested my art :)
Nanaki
-
Goody, I\'m sure you\'ll be able to come up with some really cool monsters (or whatever your task is) for future releases of PS. :D
-
Your work is amazing, it really is. I love your work and find myself just looking at it several times a day. If I could make one humble suggestion: Please, please consider making a wallpaper sized picture! Having one of your monsters as my wallpaper would really make my days brighter.
-
What happened to you? Have you been accepted???
