The Followers of Aliathi (A-liath-i )

History:
Around the same time as the great Ebony God, Talad, began the construction of his capital city in Yliakum, another deity in another world found herself banished from her homeland by her brother, Judek, God of the Winds. Their world had thrived under the shared rule of both gods, untill the day came when Judek began conceiving wicked plans to tarnish his sister\'s good name so that he may rule supreme over all life on the planet. Aliathi, goddess of Healing, was charged with stealing and hiding away artifacts of worship that had been dedicated to her brother, and when Judek ordered his high priests to search the grounds of Aliathi\'s holy temple, he deliberately planted the artifacts in his sister\'s deepest chambers, successfully framing her when they were discovered by his followers. The people were gathered from all the cities and news of the discovery was announced by Judek himself, in a voice that travelled across the entire globe so that no pair of ears could not hear his proclaimation; Aliathi, goddess of Healing, his sister, was a traitor and a thief. Angered and appalled, the people cried out for justice.
Judek approached Aliathi on that same night and drew his mighty weapon to her chest. The blade was long and thin, glowing with an ethereal quality, shimmering with godly power. The goddess was shocked and saddened by his betrayal, but did not try to defend herself. She knew that he was many times more powerful than herself and would kill her if she did not leave the world of her own accord. Turning from his sword, she began to rise into the sky untill the world beneath her disappeared and all that was left was the great void of space.
It took many years for Aliathi to reach Vod?l\'s world. She approached the elder god, pleading for sanctuary on his planet. After explaining her plight to him, Vod?l shook his head slowly and told her that this world was already home to two rival deities, and that a third would bring chaos over the lands. The goddess begged him to let her stay; Her power was fading with nobody worshipping her, and it would take far too long to find another world to live in. If she did not stay here, she would simply cease to exist.
However, Vod?l was firm in his decision, and became angry when Aliathi did not leave. She refused to leave his temple, terrified of death, but the elder god suddenly stood from his throne, raising his hand, and a ball of sizzling power flew forth and struck her with the force of a thunderbolt. She hovered there, paralysed in a cocoon of energy as Vod?l approached, speaking words that shook the walls of his temple and caused cracks to form on the marble floor. Aliathi realised that he was casting a spell, imprisoning her within an object called the Azure Crystal. Before she could understand what was happening, the goddess\' spirit was cast into the crystal column, frozen in time and forever bound to the azure energy.
Meanwhile, portals had appeared in several places around Judek\'s world. Since Aliathi\'s banishment, Judek had ruled with an iron fist and a short temper- he had become vengeful and greedy with power. Not knowing where these mysterious doorways had come from, and unable to close them, Judek decreed that the portals were windows to Hell, and anybody who passed through them would suffer an eternal fate of damnation. However, some of his followers had secretly turned their back on the changed god, remembering how kind and true the goddess of Healing had been, and thought that she had created them so that her followers could escape Judek\'s evil tyranny and join her in a beautiful new world. As Aliathi\'s faithful worshippers left Judek\'s world, they arrived in Yliakum.
Through their worship over the next two years, Aliathi managed to regain enough strength to partially control the flow of energy through the crystal, using it to answer the prayers of her followers and manifest gifts to them to encourage their worship. Over time, the Priests integrated with the established people of Yliakum and their numbers grew; they built small chapels devoted to their goddess on the fourth and fifth levels of Yliakum. One day, the great Ebony God approached the crystal and spoke. He had noticed this intrusion and threatened to send word to Vod?l and have her destroyed for good. Aliathi, trapped within the quivering column of energy, assured him that they could co-exist and promised to never steal a devoted follower from his populace. Thus, bound by magic, by the crystal, and now by a promise, Aliathi finally settled into the new world.
Goals:
Our purpose is the maintenance of Aliathi\'s power and to do good deeds for her across the world. The Followers of Aliathi protect the sick and injured, using the divine power of Aliathi to heal the bodies and minds of those in need. This guild is a religion, thus members are permitted to have ranks in other guilds alongside whatever position they achieve here.
Alignment:
The Followers of Aliathi are Good aligned, answering to the laws of our goddess Aliathi. Members must also share this alignment.
Ranks:
High Priestess\' (Moogie) and (Gronomist)
The High Priestesses manage and run the guild, recruiting new followers, promoting people, and take advice from the Council.
Counciller
These priests form the Council and vote on important subjects concerning the guild and it\'s people. A counciller has the power to recruit followers into the guild and can also give orders to their subordinates.
Cleric
Clerics are trusted members who serve and protect members of the guild with their healing abilities. Their secondary task is to advertise the Followers of Aliathi and perform healing to the sick and injured wherever they travel. They must uphold the good name of the guild.
Healer
A Healer is a cleric-in-training. They are proven followers who represent the guild in the cities of Yliakum. Healers serve and learn from Clerics untill they are promoted higher into the ranks. They must also heal the wounded on their travels.
Follower
Followers are new recruits into the Followers of Aliathi. This rank is for initiates to be assessed for their abilities and eventually assigned to a suitable rank.
Special Ranks:
Battlepriest
A Battlepriest is a specialist priest who is adept in combat aswell as his innate healing abilities.
Beastrider
Primarily messangers, a Beastrider is a member adept in mounting and riding a variety of creatures. They may also be used as scouts in dangerous situations.
Alchemist
The Alchemists of the guild are assigned the task of producing useful potions with various healing properties. They will be supplied to members, and any suplus sold for profit.
Aliathi\'s Laws:
1. Worship no other deity, idol or being than Aliathi.
2. Do not betray a fellow member.
3. Do not take from the guild treasury without just cause.
4. If you become a member of another guild, you must announce the guild and you ranking to the High Priest(ess).
5. Never cause harm or disruption to any living being in the name of Aliathi, unless it is in self-defence.
6. Follow the duties of your rank and respect your elders (higher-ranking members).
Ignorance of these laws will result in fair consequences.

This is a roleplay guild centered around a new deity in the Planeshift world. We\'ll become fully active in Crystal Blue and versions beyond. We\'re looking for some preliminary Council members and followers to start us off. I\'d like to point out (just in case Mogura didn\'t mention it):
Although we do not allow members of the Aliathi Church to worship several gods, we do acknowledge Talad and Laanx and their beliefs. We can not always agree with them, but that is a whole other story.

Amazing work, Moogie; this looks to be a wonderful idea behind an equally wonderful guild.
If I were good and a healer (and the beliefs didn\'t contradict my own character), this is precisely the kind of guild I would join. Nevertheless, best of luck to you, Grono, and whoever else joins up or worships along side you. May you mend many wounds and souls.
Are you planning on holding any ceremonies or services dedicated to your goddess? I\'d be very interested in attending one, sometime.

So, there will be three player-recognized gods roleplayed in planeshift. (atm)
It\'s well written, so I wonder if the devs will add this in some way, shape, or form...
Anywho, a guild run by Moogie and Gronomist can\'t be anything but good! :) (and popular ;))
I would most likely be attending any services, although my character won\'t be able to obey that first law. :-P

Also, if anybody who is currently in a guild wishes to join Alaithi\'s religion, you should gain permission from your guild leader first. This isn\'t a law however... just common sense. :)

Just to make it clear: the Followers of Aliathi is a PS religion, moreso than a guild. So we arn\'t in the same boat as other guilds here- we arn\'t fighting for members, because anybody of any guild can join us if they fit with the laws of Aliathi. :) Our \'organisation\' won\'t create competition for members in the community.

If Kada, Illyria (even if she has a beard and is a man:P) and the princess join you then you\'ll move to the top of my \"Guilds to Aquire\" list. Heh! Heh! Think of all the beautiful female slaves *Drooooool.......*:P.
Besides that I think you will perish before long. I said it to FL when they were going strong and I say it to you as you start. Not everything is designed for permanence as you are not. If you can realise what you have done seriously wrong in the formation of this guild then you will exist and if not then dissappear. Its not my business to point out the mistakes of others especially when they might prove beneficial;). Nevertheless, I will tell you that it is the most common mistake guilds commit, out of goodwill that i am forced to feel for Chick Guilds. (Aren\'t I offensive:P I love meself:D)

so basicaly this is a kind of a group that belives in some sort of saint or Ascendant ? any way itll be nice additon to PS to have Ascendants (good saints) and Scions (not so good ones)
if this idea is accepted we can have a speical saint called Scion Remus Patron of gamblers, treasure seekers and avdentures

Aliathi shall protect us, as always she has. Her light shines on all who have the faith and courage to follow her divine path. :)
Auran, you still believe this is a guild? :) That\'s where you make your mistake, friend. We cannot fall, because our strength comes from Aliathi herself, and she is everpresent. We as a group exist to keep her alive and help the suffering in this world. We also exist to keep the forces of evil at bay, using the blessings of our Goddess as our tool to defend the righteous.
OOC: As I say, we\'re pretty much inactive untill CB arrives. I have ideas of making the FoA more battle-focused in the future, so especially people who are interested in becoming Battlepriests should sign up. :) Remember, you\'re bound by no multiguild rules with us, but to avoid complication, always get permission from your current guild leader first.

Ah madam! Alas no, I don\'t believe this is a guild. And that is what concerns me.;)
As to combating evil, to fight you\'ll first need to stand up on your legs and thats a tall order from what I percieve. And even if you , as I hope, against all odds manage to keep from falling apart there\'s still the nagging little issue of finding evil;). I must remind you that all evil, unlike the assorted fools of DE, doesn\'t walk around proclaiming evilness by hanging dayglow placards saying \"Look at me ! I am evil!\" around their necks.
And before I take your leave I would also like to assert that nothing save darkness is omnipresent. Gods cease to exist when their believers cease to exist. Darkness is the only undeniable truth. Forever, beyond your feeble circle of light, it lurks waiting patiently for the time when the light goes out.

adopt Xalthar as your god and you\'ll have my whole hearted support;). You can have semierotic rituals where all preistesses wear skimpy outfits->0(read as \"outfits tend to zero\");). I am sure that would be a religious group I can admire and love:D. Hell I\'d even join:P.

We\'re not asking for your support, Auran, so you can stop trying. ;) We would have nothing to do with you less than cleansing evil like yours from the world.
Aside that, I\'d like to welcome Dameon under Aliathi\'s protective wings. :) He joins us as a Cleric.
Once we have a third Cleric with us, all three will be bumped up to Council members. :)

The tradgedy of the goddess has opened my eyes to the importance of the great Azure Crystal. I will still serve my duties as a Legend of the Circle of Legends, as worshipping Aliathi is not a duty, but an honor. It will not affect CoL in any way.

There is no honour in worshipping false gods. True Honour comes from living life to its fullest. Honour not the worshiping of false gods as they do not offer protection & redemption in times of ultmost need.

Honour is in being semi naked:P. You are bound to think a religion is great if the preisteses wear skimpy outfits:D. I cannot stress enough the importance of skimpy outfits. In every movie about cults, whenever one sees seminaked female cultists, one\'s fervour rises tenfold. Therefore the wisdom of the great TV dictates that you take my suggestion in order to be successful;):D.

I am not looking for honor. I have found truth with Aliathi. No, there is no honor in worshipping false gods. Thank goodness I am not doing that.

A little ooc note: Lots of people are having trouble with our forums... me and Grono included! We\'ll see what we can do to fix them... if we can ever log in. I think we\'re going to have to switch to something else. =/

I play mmorpgs, and am often the \"helpful healer\" such as being a tao in Legend of Mir, or an acolyte in Ro, or a paladin in Diablo 2 etc. it\'s nice to see an entire guild created around these morals and i would like to join if i can! i certainally could do with some roleplaying, havent done any in years since AD&D 2nd edition (though i did play a chaotic evil character, i have been a cleric, paladin and a druid.)
i\'ll be downloading the game after i finish my 2nd year computing coursework, and be playing lots.

look at it this way when the countless hoard of n00bs arrive they will create High lvl ( if there is such a thing maby by cash ) invite only guilds and they will go around Pking every 1 and shouting SuXX0rs and L33t and stuff
also they are spys around but i dout they wont give this guild trouble AS you\'ve just sweeten the prize by makeing it hard

Of course Mogs can do whatever she wants with the organisation. And if she wants it to be friendly community then she has to watch out who she \"recruits\"
It\'s the fault of community, not the religion and as for the rp part.
In the darkest hours only the chosen shall be defended by the light of Aliathi. Only the most worthy worshippers shall be destined to dwell in her goodness :P

I\'ve changed my mind about making Aliathi invite-only... what can I say, people were still asking to join us, and I\'m not one to turn a friend down. :) So in light of this, I\'d like to welcome a new member- Altharion.
Also, Nakomi, I\'ve sent you a PM. You may also join if you still want to. :) That goes for everyone else too.
Gronomist, please, please, PLEASE, do something! I\'m relying on you to get us a working forum, I can\'t keep bugging you like this... ><
And btw, the Members page on the Aliathi website will be updated as soon as I can get access to the ftp server again. Something\'s gone wrong. :P

You should change the text color from white to something darker when I was checking out the member page you couldn\'t even see the members, I thought maybe there was none lol :) Other wise it is all good, although Xperto doesn\'t look to any god we will be glad to stand by a guild with good intentions in life!

Okay, our temp forums should now be up. You don\'t need to register in order to post, if you just wanna visit and drop in a \"hello\". :) But I ask all Aliathi followers to sign up so we have some means of contacting you\'s, and just generally another way to keep track of who\'s in.

It\'s only a little free thing... if we ever find some proper forums and a host, we\'ll use that instead. That\'s how these are temp. :)
I didn\'t see any way to change the banner... maybe Grono knows... she knows more about this forum mumbo-jumbo than I do. :P

argh that has to be the worst forum I have ever seen no offence i know its temporary but its missing so many essentials your better off using Phpbb or whatever it is called I think the blitzers...yah thats what they use! I want to get mine made with phpbb but Meolae is already busy with our new site and I am not exactly captain intelligence with that kind of stuff!

Oh, and the word \"Aliathi\" is just a completely random jumble of letters. :) I heard recently about a similar name which apparently comes from the book \"Dune\"... never read it myself, though. :)

Yes, we\'d prefer everyone to be of a Good alignment, although Aliathi has no qualms with Neutral ones, just as long as they are faithful to Her. :)
