Interesting read from /.

http://www.acmqueue.com/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=118&page=1 (http://www.acmqueue.com/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=118&page=1)

Appologies if the wrong forum, but i thought it was of developer interest and not really general interest.

Sounds like a great article.  I read the first page and I\'ll read the rest later.

You can tell it was written by an Intel guy :)  Most of it seems to be concerned with procedural/fractal generation of geometry, which is a reasonable technique for doing a lot of \"detail\" without a lot of work.  Also it concerns itself with performance-adaptive techniques, which are somewhat present in the CrystalSpace New Renderer (which is designed to optionally, but not necessarily, use cool things like pixel shaders).
