Title: Making Buildings

time for me to contribute my talents to the fanart section of the forums

im going to take requests on building you want. try to be descriptive
dont tell me to make something that will take ages or you will have to wait till the weekend :P

heres a little demo of something i whipped up in 5 minutes

description:
a basic guard tower of the dark thrid level of yliakum. the roof is made of a green crystal. when there is incoming danger a guard will light a flame under the crystal making a strong green glow across the city. this will alert everyone in the city while the guards take up arms and the citizens flee for the safety of their homes

im also gonna need a good file uploader :rolleyes:

get those requests rolling in!

yay buildings these look hard lol.

a really tall tower lol.

ok um 4 sides to it.

like sandy coloured bricks.

oh and those um... square windows here and there..about 8 lol.

diametres would be three times higher than wider.

flat top with like those um.. crennelations? i dont know lol the things that people on the roof hide behind to avoid arrows.

and fires on the four corners on the roof of course =P

ill try and make a tower too =P


Did you use intersecting faces to make this?

If you know a bit how to model , you could try to post in laanx wheel of wishes,  there s some basic guidelines about modeling in the site.

Ewwwwww, UnrealEd.  Oh well, I gotta learn that SOB next quarter anyway.  That can\'t export to .map format though, can it?  Coz\' there is a map2cs exporter for getting stuff into Crytsal Space.

I really like the tower, its all groovy,the textures are all nice and the windows are subtracted nicely plus the lights are placed nicely too, and unrealED rocks, ( I\'m doing a big lot O work in it atm) oh and btw 3dbuzz.com has heaps of free video tutes on unrealed and matine and all the make yourself bits of unreal, they helped me a big fat monkeyload with my project and its a free resource so yeah, GO TEAM & etc

heh thats just the edge of the box i subtracted to put the tower in :P  the tower looked pretty boring all on its own so i thought i would build it next to the wall. couldnt be bothered adding detail to the \'castle\' cause i was focusing more on the tower.
i love how when you add the right lighting you can make something look completely different :)

ok a castle. yes a castle. i got all my names right so i can explain this better.

ok im talking about a castle not a keep.

so this is the outer wall, inner wall and keep, with gates moats and everyhting =P.

it dosnt have to have houses in it. Just nice big walls.

ok um 2 walls. Both hexagons. Farely thick. Coal black stones maybe or sandstoneish white whatever you can do.

of course they each wall has to have one of those mini towers on each corner =)

same thing with crennelations and machellations.

arrow slits along the walls.

keep can just be a box with windows and a arch door at bottom.

so lets see basic shape from birds eye view would be a box in a hexagon in a hexagon

kinda like that where & is outer wall * is inner wall and @ is keep. The inner wall is meant to be hexagonal not sqaure but you will be able to do that better in unrealEd.

Heheheh I\'m not very busy, I got a whole week off to work on... stuff.

I\'m sure you can do a better job with this, but I wanted to make a large building for my own project, and I\'m not really good at making up my own blueprints... so I kinda hijacked Monketh\'s.  

I got the layout for the 1st floor done.  It\'s not final textures (although I am confused about what you were trying to say some of the textures should be) and there isn\'t a lot of extra detail objects, since I probably want to model those elsewhere and place them in.  But um, I\'m using QuArK and porting into Realm Wars, both of which are free =).

Anyway the blueprints are kinda confusing in some spots, is there anything I messed up so far?  And what is that \"Lock-up\" supposed to look like, and do you mean there to be a bridge on the second floor to it?

Overall lookin\' good.
The roof on above the main entrance is higher up.
And there\'s a door under the (missing) stairs to floor 2.
I can\'t see anything wrong with it asides that and the textures.  I\'ll find some textures and clarify on that later.

The Lock-up is a fancy barn. :P
...and yes, there\'s a bridge on the second floor to it. :D

You\'ll just have to trust me I added a door below the stairs.  Honestly I\'m really confused about what to do from here.  Aside from the lounge area itself, I don\'t really know what the area around it is supposed to be, or the rest of the roof area for that matter.  And I didn\'t do the lock-up thing coz\' uh... well I\'m just a mimic, not an architect, so if you want it to come out right I need a better reference than a rectangle with two doorways.

Well, really, the open balkony looksnice, a view from above to down I mean with that.

They the walls are a bit out of my taste(could be me though)

And maybe the windows could be a bit bigger, we do need light :P

I finished this a while ago with a third floor and barn and roofs.  Those areas are a little weird though, since there wasn\'t much reference for them.  Textures haven\'t changed much, and most of the areas don\'t have a lot of detail still though.  I\'ve mostly been using the building as a base for programming doors (for my game, that is).

CrystalSpace is bsp based and there is a map2cs converter.  I can\'t find any documentation on how to use the thing, but theoretically yes.
