Title: New run_me_first.bat
Post by: Androgos on March 17, 2004, 02:43:43 pm
I had a day where I couldn\'t think of anything to do, so I made this program:
http://command.no-ip.com/PlaneShift_Assembler.exe

It downloads/checks/assembles and launches the updater

This time, WITH A GUI!

-------------------------------------------------------
Old \"new run_me_first.bat\"
As the people discovers PlaneShift, more fails downloading it.
So, I made this automatic MD5 checking script.

Features:
- Automaticly checks MD5 signature of the downloaded files
- Automaticly launches the installer upon success
- If the files fails the MD5 test, the user gets a message telling him personly to download it again

\"Screen\"dumps:

Failed screen:
Quote

Creating MD5 checksum file...
PSV0.2.010.Part1 : OK
PSV0.2.010.Part2 : FAILED
PSV0.2.010.Part3 : FAILED
PSV0.2.010.Part4 : OK
PSV0.2.010.Part5 : OK
md5sum: WARNING: 2 of 5 computed checksums did NOT match

======WARNING======
Some PlaneShift MB files didn\'t pass MD5 file testing.
See the log for information about which file(s) didn\'t pass
Please redownload faulty files

Press any key to continue . . .

Success:

PSV0.2.010.Part3 : OK
PSV0.2.010.Part4 : OK
PSV0.2.010.Part5 : OK
MD5 check passed

Please standby while reassembling the installer program...
PSV0.2.010.Part1
PSV0.2.010.Part2
PSV0.2.010.Part3
PSV0.2.010.Part4
PSV0.2.010.Part5
        1 file(s) copied.

Running the installer...

The new file is ready for download at the following address:
http://command.no-ip.com/filestorage/anon/run_me_first.bat
You will also need the md5 check utility:
http://www.planeshift.it/download/md5sum.exe

Happy installing!

P.S I\'m not saying this is n00b proof, I bet that those things will still ask questions, but maybe not as many? D.S

And what if it says:

Creating md5 checksum file...
\'md5sum\' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

And yes, I did download the md5 check utility.
Title: Still got a problem!
Post by: Das Elend on April 24, 2004, 04:55:53 pm
Hi.

Have downloaded both files. Now it says:

PSV0.2.010.Part1 : No such file or directory
--PSV0.2.010.Part1 : FAILED open or read

And that is for every part, after multiple downloads from the second downloadserver!

Also the first downloadserver does not work at the moment. Might there be any other solution than trying to download it again and again?

Thanks in advance.

Check that the file is in the same directory and has the right filename (md5sum.exe)

Ok, so I remember coming to this game about a year..probaly longer ago and downloading and getting and talking on the forums...etc...etc..

anyway it was too good of a game for my computer back then (an onboard VGA) I just got a new vidoe card and though...\"Hey what about planeshift\"

So thats my story. Anyway I came and redownloaded the 5 part and the assembler, but when i double click the run me first it goes to this error.

See my screenshot to see the error.

Title: Failed
Post by: gandalf13 on July 24, 2004, 08:45:36 pm
All five of my parts failed. I tried to re-install, and the same thing happened. Any suggestions?
(I dont know if this is the same thing, but i had trouble with corrupt files installing java, and was only able to solve it by downloading it on another computer and uploading it up onto mine)

Also, when i try to initiate the game it says
\"Installer corrupted or incomplete. This could be the result of a failed download or corruption from a virus. If desperate, try the /NCRC command line switch. (NOT recommended).\" WHat should i do?

Yes, it is possible to have all of the five MD5 tags not check out.  Only way you will get it to run is to redownload all of them.  Download one file at a time and don\'t use a download accelerator program, they are notorious for messing up downloaded files.
Or if you don\'t mind downloading the game in one piece, you can get it here (http://www.fragnetics.com/download.php?file=planeshift)

It always makes me laugh when someone shows their error message, which happens to contain a sentence starting with \"To fix this,...\" and then say they don\'t know what to do. :)

Ryguy, as yours is a system error and appears not to be related to the game, I would suggest doing what it says. The run_me_first.bat file is simply a group of DOS commands which are ran when the file is double clicked. Thus, if there was something wrong with the .bat file itself, simply nothing would happen.

You appear to be using an old Windows version, so I can\'t really help you any further (it\'s been years since I touched anything older than XP). I can guess that something is wrong with your drivers, or a part of your OS isn\'t functioning as it should be (possibly due to viruses or corruptions).
