Argh anyone watch Survivor? If so who is your favorite survivor mine is Ethan, he won for me last time guess he can\'t this time :( Now all my hopes are on Big Rupert!! YOUR MY BOY RUPERT!!
-
tom, rupert and rudy are my fav survivors. rudy is gone, tom is getting in the dog house and rupert isnt the same. as far as im concerned they are all dead to me... :P
-
Rupert was my favorite in Pearl Islands, but he just plain sucks in All-Stars. The \"bunker\" comes to mind, as does the boat; he\'s failed other times, but I\'m too tired to remember (I actually fell asleep during the log roll challenge, good thing I have it TiVo\'d).
All-Stars, despite having some good challenges, is quite a letdown.
-
Agreed Rupert was awesome in Pearl Islands, he could be a real pirate if he wanted to be :D
Rudy is god just because when he got voted out he said something about those people that voted me out better watch out I have a lot of friends :D
All-Stars is a let down, Two people leave without being voted out already! I hate rob he thinks hes tough stuff mcgruff when he aint S$#%! But you know I\'ll keep watching because other than family guy this is my favorite show :D

what is survivor?
-
Survivor: A television game show in which 16 contestants are stranded in exotic locales. The object is to be the Survivor by maiming and mutilating the competition, usually with pointy sticks and heavy stones, but bare-hands are encouraged. Survivor very often ends in a cannibalistic showdown for the $1,000,000 prize.
Or at least that\'s how I wish the show worked...
In reality, Survivor takes 16 contestants and strands them in some exotic locale, where they must brave the unique challlenges of living in the middle of nowhere. For 42 days, they have 2 challenges every 3 days, and a \"tribal council\" where a player is eliminated, until only 2 remain, in which case those eliminated in the past decide the victor. Its really quite a boring program, actually... Although it has its moments.
-
yeah like the time 2 women got naked for peanut butter and cookies.... and the time ethan got knocked by boston rob in a challenge. and every time richard hatch was on screen... and every time rudy yelled at \"young ins\" for moaning and whining... yeah lots of funny moments on taht show...

i thought the name of the show is survivor ?(
-
Well, in Europe (Holland and Sweden anyway) it is called expedition Robinson (add Cruse if you like). Stupid program, but that doesn\'t matter. ;)
-
Who watches that kind of crap anyway ;)
-
if there are those hot looking ladies with barelly clothes, i\'ll watch it :P
-
Oh man I really hate reality TV, now there is way to much of it I can\'t go a day without seeing it.
-
I agree reality t.v blows but i can\'t help but watch survivor love that show oh and Playing it Straight is a good one to.
Playing it straight is like there is one girl (very good looking may I add) She is looking for true love! (lol)
There are like mmm 12 or so guys that are trying to win over her heart in the end...but the twist is a certain number of these guys are gay and have been set up to try and win over her heart. If she picks a gay guy in the end she doesnt find her true love and the gay guy gets 1 million dollars, but if she picks a straight guy in the end she finds her love and they split a million. Its funny because they have comments every once in awhile from each of the guys, each claiming a different guy is gay :D
-
i just saw survivor at my friends place, crappy show thats all i have to say,
and by the by i live in Europe (Iceland to be precise) and its not called Robinson here, just Survivor
-
The best part of reality shows is when people start hating eachother.. it\'s incredible how stupid and ignorant people can be :P
-
yep gotta love the spreading of hate on these shows, they turn on each other so easily and so quickly!
-
the best thing I\'ve experienced concerning these shows, is that in Denmark the most hated of all the contestants in the show \"Robinson\" won, and subsequently all major magazines have been writing hateful articles against him :D
(almost makes the magazines worth reading  )
not much competes with people getting angry with eachother live, entertainment wise :P
-
I feel bad for those people who get a bad article put under their name, having so many people hate you over such a little event :(
-
They signed up for the stuff, they have to live with the consequences.. Although you could argue the sanity of the people that actually start hating them because they won or because of something they did in the show.. as I\'ve said countless times before, people are morons
-
Do you ever think some of these people are desperate for cash, I think that was why Rupert joined Survivor : Pearl Islands initially. When he started he said something about the money will help his family imensely and when he got voted out close to the end he was almost going to go back and kill the rest of the survivors because he needed the cashbad.

Well If he\'d done that, that would have been all the more fun :P
excuse my morbid sense of humor.. the more idiotic and lame they get, the more fun it gets to watch, and threats are at the top of my list :P
And if they were indeed desperate of cash, they should get a job instead of joining something as stupid as a gameshow like survivor.. the ones joining are selfserving media-whores looking for their 15 minutes of fame, I say let them so I can have my cheap laugh :P

I\'m rather conflicted on this whole reality TV thing... It very rarely ever resembles anything close to \"reality\", and very rarely is unpredictable or interesting... Two reality programs I enjoyed recently are Todd TV and My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance; these are \"reality\" TV done right, I think...
Todd TV took a man by the name of Todd Santos, a waiter by occupation and a bit of a bum, and turns his life around (although for good or bad was entirely by the audience\'s decision). The slogan was something to the effect of \"You can help build a better Todd!\", and this was actually quite true, as the show actually gave him big breaks in the music industry as well as many life-changing experiences (facing the fact that he was an alcholic, for example, or confronting his long-time girlfriend).
My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance was, by far, the most brillant thing to ever air on television. The whole point of the show is one finely crafted lie built on top of another, poorly crafted one. They take a woman by the name of Randi and make her convience her family that she is marrying the most slobbingly man ever to have lived (who she thinks is another contestant, but is actually a paid actor meant to make her life a living hell). The whole point of the show is torturing Randi and her family, often to the point of tears or heated arguments.
The beauty in these two shows is that it is much more unpredictable and improvisational than other \"reality\" efforts (i.e. Survivor or Big Brother, both of which is heavily scripted). I certainly hope we see more of these types of programs in years to come and less of Survivor and the like...
-
The true beauty of shows like survivor, which I think you fail to specify, is the hatred or dislike that more often than not arises between the contestants.. And that is the \"reality\" part of the show. Depicting human behavior in situations which aren\'t \"everyday\". And in my oppinion, these are what makes the shows worth watching.
The fact that such situations only occur in 5% of the total length of the show is a completely different matter :P
-
how do you know that Survivor/Robinson Cruse is
heavily scripted
?
-
(Hm...Why\'d you have to go and scrounge this old thing up?)

Well, for one, they have a writing staff...
Humans are very predictable things, and when in put in particular cirumstances it can often be deduced what course of action the participants will take. For example, last week on Survivor All-Stars, the two tribes were \"randomly reshuffled\"; although actually, the tribes remained the same save of one person who happened to be in a serious relashionship with a tribemate. Obviously, the shuffle was stacked against this poor girl in order to strain their relashionship, and to make some interesting drama for the episode. Interesting, it was; as her boyfriend made an offhand remark to her tribe\'s leader (\"protect her, and I\'ll protect you\", or something to that effect). Anticipating an alliance come merge, the leader followed the boyfriend\'s advice and mobilized the vote against one of his own as opposed to the girlfriend. All of this on the count of that one event... Any event or challenge in a reality show is intended to do the same; to poke and prod the contestants into some pre-defined roles or objectives. Much of this \"scripting\" is also done in editing, as the producers only reveal as much as they wish the viewing audience to see.
But this brings me to another point, this time related to \"The Apprentice\". I found it interesting that on two seperate occasions during the course of tonight\'s episode, the show was edited; and poorly, I might add. Firstly, as Donald Trump was explaining the objectives, it was obviously voiced over at a later point, as opposed to using his original briefing he gave in-person. Secondly, when one contestant was giving a monologue to the camera, his comment was entirely butchered; it sounded something to the effect of \" (I) (would) (not hire) (Omarosa) \" (the parentheses indicate four differant sound sample spliced together in editing).
Perhaps \"heavily scripted\" is a bit of an exageration, I\'m not sure what I was thinking when I wrote that...

Yes, you\'re right there; must have completely slipped my mind in that post. [edit] Ah, now that I reread my old post, I meant the beauty of those two shows in particular that I mentioned. But backstabbing is good, too ;) [/edit]

This was the best episode yet, in my opinion. Lex was throughly screwed from all angles following the merge, both from Boston Rob/Amber and from his own alliance-mate, Kathy. At least he got on the jury, I suppose.
-
Yah I just finished watching it on tape!! I hate Boston Rob he can go to hell, Lex is awesome and if Rob gets to the final two he definately won\'t get that vote lol Hey tell me this when it came to the vote Kathy said she was going to give Lex the immunity then she just goes no and Lex\'s face went like wtf is going on lol :D
-
Ok HAD to post this because the all star survivors just concluded and the winner of season 9!!
AMBERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!! (Boo)
Truly one of the best survivors I ever saw, can\'t wait for the 10th season!
-
Eh they only made reality tv cause the writers threatened togo on strike a while back.
