PlaneShift is Open Source.

That means, everybody has access to the source.
So, yes, you can test the CVS version, but you need to compile it yourself.

Explaination: CVS holds the current version of PlaneShift

Look here for instructions:

Have fun! I never tried to compile the cvs, I like to play with blender more, but maybe you succeed. :)

I assume it\'s possible to log on to the alpha(?) server used for testing ... ?

Also, I think I have read somewhere that the source was moved from sourceForge to another cvs-server. In that case - which... ? [edit] bleh - Thardin beat me to it...[/edit]

anyways..

/me fires up his linux box and rips the source  :D

AFAIK, there is no server for testing.  The compiled server software would be outdated pretty quickly and then someone would need to recompile it again and again.  Too much of a hassle, I think.

BUT the server source is included in the CVS download, so you can set up a server on your local machine and use that for testing :)

No alpha server
No move from sourceforge. Although all programming devs use SSH.
The public CVS is 6 hrs behind
