Now I\'m a Newb to this game so if this has already been suggested then just dismiss it
Sneaking around would have it\'s own skill\\level
and that\'s it\'s skill\\level would go up during night (of course).
Now all sneak does is just make you invisible, so no stealing here.
The way to spot someone sneaking would be to: Another skill called awareness (which I suggest going up automatically when you go up a level and nobody can choose it to go up). Awareness would go against the sneak ability.
If an attack is made while in using the sneak ability then you will become visible again and you won\'t be able to use the ability for about thirty seconds. If someone attacks the one using the sneak ability then the sneaker becomes visible to all and again the sneaker can\'t use his ability for about thirty seconds
Example: I have a lower awareness level than the monster using the sneak ability so he is invisible to me, then he comes up and attacks me which makes him visible then we continue our battle until we find the victor.
make sense?

Yes it makes sense, and yes this has been discussed many times before. Personally I agree with you, that is how I would like the sneaking ability to be.
-
then why not become a game? use a invisability spell and you can do the same, tough with the magic-side you would also be able to cast spells as well.
-
Maybe there won\'t be an invisibilty spell, they haven\'t actually put the spells in the game just yet.
-
I think that there would be a sneaking and awarness skill, but not in the way you describe them. If you are in a shadow, but have almost no sneaking skills, then you will be less visible, but if you have higher sneaking skills, then youd become fully invisible, awarness counters this, and you can see the sneaking person if yoiu get close enough.
-
are you literally saying \"In shadow\"?
-
I mean trha you are standing under the shadow that a building casts.
-
I\'m fond of this idea:
For every X amount of skill in stealth you become X% transparent. This is countered by awareness, which you naturally subtract from said X%.
That way if a player has a good eye he might get lucky and spot the assassin standing 2 feet in front of him in that thicket.
Then again, maybe they won\'t.

Shadowing is usually a client side feature that can be turned on or off. They are not something you can hide in. Invisibilty is usually on off thing as well. Even 10% visible would mean you can bee seen with a computer with the settings adjusted to show maximum contrast.
The skill system for hiding can work well. Other P2P games have a skill level for hiding and detecting.
