Title: The New Planeshift
Post by: Zene on April 01, 2004, 10:41:21 pm: Does anyone else like the idea of Planeshift becoming a First Person Action Game?
Opinions on whether or not it should change are welcome, although personally I\'m not very fond of the idea. The first or third person fantasy adventure appealed to me more than this.

(Well, actually, I *am* a sucker for a good opensource Elite-style game, anyone here checked out Vegastrike at vegastrike.sourceforge.net? Seems to be fairly well-developed, but the user interface is a little dodgy and it\'s not really multiplayer)

Can I have a show of hands for a psionic DJ class which uses a combination of the Force and techno to control legions of brainwashed ravers?

Combat suits for players would be cool too, so you could have a jetpack, or rocketboots to speed over the ground. Heheheh laser-sword fight with jetpack and rocketboots, that would rule.

While the meaning of the various release stages differs from person to person, a pre-alpha tech demo, such as the MB psclient, is meant to test and demonstrate the engine itself. The quests and content are mainly for our entertainment. So, if the devs can go in any direction from this point as we have barely been introduced to the setting as it is. Not saying I believe this, but you have no reason to complain if it is indeed true.

By the way, the encoding on that video was very bad... +2MB for 2 seconds? Entertaining though...

heh, probably because they switched on such short notice, you know, it\'s important to update the community as fast as possible in their opinion. :baby:

And 3rd person may not be as immersive, but YOU try driving a vehicle around or swinging a sword from 1st person view. In a game that is. It\'s not very fun.

It could include guns, \'lightsabers\', and other high tech weapons with magic and such. As for races, it can have both real and fantasy races. If the devs aren\'t gonna have a fantasy type game, I\'m gonna go for a hybrid.
