its a custom spell system bouncing in my head 4 a while:
bassicly u make yr own spells from \"spell parts\"
and this is how you make a spell using this system:
1st u select a/some element(s): the number of elements depends on your magic level and you get new elements as you level up
then you select the \"spell body\": thats how the element is supoosed to flow to the target, like forinstance: if you select the fire element and the \"fire ball\" spell body, you get a fireball, but if you select the ICE element and the \"fire ball\" spell body: you get a iceball
and (if you want) as you level up: you can select more thatn 1 spell body to make combos & sutch
now the 3rd part is the \"extras\", now these extras act like acsessories in the fact that they are just there to provide things like \"extra damage\" and \"steal health\" and sutch
and the 4th part is the name, and do I really have to tell you about the name???
& thats it: like it?

The magic system is pretty much done now. But from the notes on the CVS list it seems like it will involve some sort of system where you build spells from components.

i guess they could add it as a seperate magic for people who want to customize spells and then memorize them but i cant see how it works what if you find a spell you really like to use
plus then do you lose the spell components?

pffffff thats allmost exsactly how the morrowind
spell system works
1-chose an effeckt
(but you have to have it from an other spell you bought)
2-set strength of effeckt
3-maybe choose other effeckt
(and maybe more)
4-choose tranfer way(touch, target, self)
(touch-the spell range is touch, target-you get the -ball magic, self- on ur self)
5-name
(duh)
and ready
exsample:
you have an open door spell 50 pts
that means you can magicly open door that are locked with an lock lvl 50.
you want an opendoor 100pts spell
with witch you can open lvl100 doors
you go to a spellmaker
choose the openlock effect.
set it to 100pts to a 100pts (minimum, maximum)
set ok, select range (touch, or target, whatever)
choose name (Satyr\'s locksplitter, idunno)
and ur ready your own spell
and in that way you can make firefrostballs
or health and magic sapping touch spells
and ready
you dig?

1st off: this is a pre morrowind idea ( i have played morrowind) and the main difrence for this system allows 4 u 2 use more \"flashy\" graphix: like have the element swirl the target then crash on then

first of all morrowind spells creation s*cks bad!! i made an uber spell there, costed 1/10 of my mana when casted, but min. dmg was 500 (most monsters dont even come near 500hp there)
2nd, i think that the components of what spells will be casted will be something like runescape\'s runestones, or some sort of magic words, and then for a certain spell it would req. you to have the needed words/runes in your spellbook/backpack and enough MP.

Make your own spells is cool, but please, if you hava to have runes, books and MP to cast something.... I think I prefer to be a fighter and leave the brainbreaker away.

Im found of Magick Users so i dun care im anxios(sp?) to see PSes magick sys.... the only game i have never had a magic user is Runescape *COUGHRUNECRAPCOUGH* lol This Creata-a-spell system is neat but bad... like what that guy did.. created a Uber Spell that is powerful out da Yin-Yang.... now having a Spell Components type system, say like EQs system where you carry lil nick nacks and long as you have tose and Mana you can cast the spell that i like... or for instance a system like what Sorcerers, Druids, and Clerics have ta use on D&D specificly NeverWinter Nights (love dat game) where you have so many Spells you can memorize and you can stack em up as well.... thats a neat one... like i said, Create-a-spell system is to easyish.. you could easily create a Uber spell for your level and creature levels around you.. and prolly be able to kill higher level creatures gaining uber EXP... good idea.... to unbalanced... now with proper arranging and such to limit the power of a spell and balancing out things then maybe it could work...

Why not just balance the uber spells with uber monsters and better fighting skills

in this spell system u get new elements & sutch as yr magic skill lvls up so u cant make a uber spell at lvl 1

Yah why dont we wait to see the system before trying to make a new one... focus on stuff that isnt completely thought threw or better yet thought of

yeah, the nwn spell system was awesome.
but i dont really care how it will be made, i just hope there is a good way for keybinding, so that you dont have to look up your spell etc, but that you can cast them fast. else you are attacked by a warrior that runs towards you-> you go look in your book/inventory or whatever for your spell. you selec..... to late, your head has been cut off. no fun in that, now is there? (well, maybe fun for warriors:P but not for my mage)

yah how is a mage supposed to kill anything unless he can master his spells.... cant just keep looking down and up.... waht if you get it wrong.... up down SLAP
